Chapter Five- Taking Care of the Nurse, Cripple, and Assistant

While they made their way out Rivalz couldn’t help but stare at the wheelchair Nunnally was in and wonder how she feels always needing somebody else’s help to get around. The thought of it honestly saddened him, seeing such a perfect kind-natured girl like her so helpless like that in spite of always smiling. He could tell that she was secretly sad on the inside when she isn’t around Lelouch. To him and the rest of their group of friends she was like family and it made him wonder what he could do with the Geass power to make her walk again.

‘With all it’s awesome power I know I can’t just magically un-cripple that poor girl. Really wish I could though, then maybe ...she'd be living life happily like a normal girl her age.” He thought to himself imagining Nunnally to be heading back into her bedroom no doubt waiting for Lelouch’s return.

“We get to be touchy-feely with him too when no one else is around, you know.” Shirley protested cutely keeping her arms wrapped tight around his left while Kallen had his right.

Milly and the girls smiled in appreciation secretly admiring their Master’s nobility in caring about Nunnally’s well being. If anyone could create a means for walking for the disabled it would be him. He does design many of the newer generation Knightmare Frames after all, even more unique custom-made ones used by the Royal Knights.” She concluded making Rivalz’s eyes light up with excitement.

He quickly turned around her cupped her cheeks into his hands pulling her down onto his lips for an intense kiss that made her melt right on the spot.

“Mmhhmmm!~” Viletta moaned back wrapping her arms around his neck returning it while ignoring Shirley and Kallen’s heated glares.

I’m just saying I don't really see him helping us out of the goodness of his heart.”

“Yes,but  he’s the chief scientist for a reason. A sociopath, and a rather creepy one, he may be but his scientific knowledge is practically unrivaled. If anything he’s probably invented strange technological wonders that supersedes Knightmare frames.” Villetta explained making Rivalz take out his Geass device and look at it with wonder. 

The more he thought about it the more it made sense, this kind of strange thing could only come from a scientist as capable as him to begin with. All the more reason to go to him and offer something in exchange for Nunally’s legs. Rivalz honestly had no idea what was driving him to do this for Lelouch’s sister other than altruism, maybe he didn’t want her life confined to a wheelchair or maybe ...he just wanted to bed her and have such an angel love him unconditionally. Such thoughts bothered him until he heard Milly speak out again. 

“Hmmph, before Rivalz and I became an item I was arranged to be married to a guy at my mother’s request. It was all just so we could get back into Britannian royalty, which honestly doesn’t matter to me anymore, but after meeting him and realizing that he only wanted Ganymede’s test data more than a wife I ducked out the first chance I got.” Milly explained  with her arms crossed looking very annoyed at the memory of the scientist in question. “But I dodged a bullet there for another reason; Rivalz. In the end I got a way better man who knows how to please a woman, isn’t that right, honey?” She gushed getting up off the table to wrap her arms around Rivalz’ shorter body with a smile. 

“That’s right, and I wouldn’t trade you for the world, Milly. “Hmmm, the idea is sound, but making a deal with him might be difficult. He’s rarely interested in old ideas and often gets picky unless whatever science involved  interests him greatly. I’m sure his assistant Cecile would agree that he’s hard to work with.” Villetta added making Rivalz perked an eyebrow at her in wonder.

‘An assistant huh? Sounds like a woman going from the name, I hope she’s hot because I still plan to collect even when I’m doing this for Nunnally.’ Rivalz thought to himself and looked around at his girls when clearing his throat to speak. “Alright, here’s how we do this. First, we need our good friend and fellow girlfriend Euphemia to arrange a meeting between us and Lloyd.. I want me and Milly to go ahead and meet him in person so we can bargain, if Marriage was a price he was willing to pay for this data then a simple technological wonder being done as a favor shouldn’t bother him too much. It’s not like we’re asking for a high price anyway. ”

‘The overall goal of this endeavour is to make Nunnally walk again, I’ll do for her what Lelouch never did and then some. Maybe I can even make her mine too. Rivalz and Milly didn’t have a response to that and simply heard Lloyd chuckling in amusement.

“I’m obviously joking, even I have a sense of humor, you know. But, back to the matter at hand. You say you wanted to exchange data for ...what was it again?” Lloyd asked clearly interested and Rivalz laid  out his entire proposal to Lloyd.

“Simply put, I want to build some kind of support frame device to allow paraplegics to walk like normal people again. I was thinking of something kinda like how a Knightmare’s exoskeleton frame works, but smaller. I hope that’s possible,because I really want to give this girl named Nunally the ability to walk again.” Rivalz revealed making the assistant look to the side at her boss with growing enthusiasm. 

Lloyd then rested his chin on his hands Gendo Ikari style and cracked a wide visible  smile on his face before doubling back in his chair laughing outrageously. 

“Hahahahaha hahahah, that’s it? That's all that you ask for? I was expecting something much more complex given that Ganymede’s data is invaluable to me. I assumed you wanted more school funding from Britannia or at least a custom-model Knightmare Frame to act as your new mascot. Not that I’m mocking you or anything,I was merely taken by surprise at your request.”

“So….? Will you do it? Remember, you won’t get this data until she starts walking upright for good. I really am focused on this and will give you the data as promised if all goes well.” Rivalz stated seriously and to his great relief both Cecile and Lloyd nodded with certainty at their request. He felt his heart leap up into his chest until he heard the mad scientist speak up again.

“First, you should know that it is not as simple as simply constructing a bi-pedal apparatus for a human to move on their own, Rivalz Cardemonde. It’s far more intricate than you believe, if your idea was to help her walk with visible mechanical crutches attached to her legs I would have to drill literal holes into her flesh,bone, and internal skeletal structure to accentuate actual movement. I doubt you had that in mind, correct?” He guessed making both Rivalz and Milly shake their heads almost immediately. They shuddered at the thought of screwing things like that into Nunally’s gentle body.  

“Good,the more ‘complex’ design I mentioned earlier is thankfully a little simpler to put into practice. All I require are a few Sakuradite fragments, my genius intellect, and this girl’s cooperation for when it is completed. Walking will depend entirely on her after all. I have an idea in my head for how we used this concept to make the Lancelot so agile, the fragments of Sakuradite would have to be embedded into her body, but do not despair they are microscopic and harmless to human physiology. Nunally would not even know they are there nor would she feel the, their job would be to stimulate her leg muscles and transmit electrical impulses to them whereas they couldn't before. It’s next generation humanitarian science at its finest, granted I don't care for the humanitarian part, but I do like to be credited for this invention. Does that sound fair?”

“Of course, makes no difference to me, all I care about is helping her walk again.  YOu have the credit, but how long will this take?” Rivalz asked feeling relieved that the man’s idea was much more safe and practical for Nunally’s impending miracle. He has to admit Villetta was right when she said he was a genius.

“About that, depending on my schedule and my level of focus should nothing distract me from my work, I’d say at least two months tops. The only real drawback from this is that a ‘project’ of this design may take a month or two to actually complete. Understand that I’m a busy man employed by Britannia and often overseeing developments among other things in the  lab. Nevertheless I shall focus much of my efforts  into this. For the  sake of the data  of course, you  can have the feel good feelings of knowing you helped a crippled girl walk.” Lloyd finished standing up with right hand out and ready to be shaken to seal the deal.

Rivalz stood up and took it firmly into his own with a smile as they all got to work. His eyes had drifted to Cecile’s lovely face the entire time, when she had blushed during eye contact Rivalz knew he wanted her.

As for the car...well...how long will it take you to work your magic with her?” Euphie asked subtly  pointing at Cecile who patiently took a seat on a couch nearby with face composed in patience.

Rivalz growled when he eyed then looked back to Euphemia with a smirk.

“Not long at all, it’s how long the part comes after that varies. Thirty minutes, forty-five tops.” He answered receiving a nod.

“Well, call me whenever you’re done, me and Milly are going to catch up on what’s going on at the Academy until then.” She beamed radiantly with a loving smile then quickly leaned in to place another chaste  kiss on Rivalz’s lips before departing. 

With the door closed Rivalz turned around with face staring ahead of him at Cecile with a smile on his face. He had one hand behind his back clutching the Geass device he was so fond of and smirked when he dialed in the usual function. 

‘Power of the King’
