Chapter One- That One Spunky Ninja Girl (Mai Shiranui)

Somewhere out in one of the more peaceful regions of the Mistral mountain range, there was a large acre-wide farm located between the basins of two of the continent's largest mountains. Running a longtime farming business down there was the family of nine known simply as the Arc Family. They have been selling produce as a business for generations, providing food to many low-income village settlements for cheap and always delivering in surplus amounts to stave off hunger in some of the other more remote impoverished regions. The flow of income had been kept fairly consistent and sustainable throughout the many years gone by and nearly every family member contributed. Each Arc family, which had all originated from a now-forgotten lineage of legendary warriors, had owned the farm and passed it down to the next as a tradition that came with the special benefit of protection provided by a pair of Rival Ninja Clans which happen to be their best customers. Unfortunately for the current holders of the farm, the family household had suffered a tragic death recently.

The father of the household, Johnathan Arc, had passed away due to a rare and fatal illness that caught him by surprise by coming out of nowhere. His son Jaune was left to take up the responsibility of his late father's position as a delivery boy in his place, leaving his mother and seven sisters to continue managing the business end of things as they always have. Jaune would handle the rest of the physical labor on his own as he had always done, determined to keep his father's prized farm going after deciding that he would stay with the family rather than leave for combat school. He did this with reluctance though since it had always been his dream to become a renowned hero in the eyes of his ancestors after training to be a Huntsman. Jaune wanted to earn the admiration of his peers and maybe even meet many beautiful girls in the process, but he had to forgo his lifelong goals to uphold the family business. Jaune loved his father dearly and knew that the farm had meant everything to him when growing up. Thus, he would not turn his back on it nor the family when they needed him so very much, still, part of him yearned for excitement in some way or another.

The world of Remnant was a dangerous place no matter where you lived, so Jaune decided to train himself in the way of a sword and shield whenever he had time to spare. He eventually made himself adequate in combat and self-defense after enough training with those weapons and he would always bring his family Heirloom 'Crocea Mors' with him in case he needed to fight off monsters like the Grimm or every day Bandits looking to rob him during his deliveries. Fortunately for the Arc family farm, the two rival Ninja clans that had lived at the top of each of the twin mountains always protected them for as long as the farm business existed. Each had been a long-standing group of seasoned warriors who were often at odds with each other yet, ironically enough, they would come to defend the farm in secret from any danger since they've been their most frequent customers for generations.

Both of these groups were known respectively as the Shiranui Ninja Clan and the Mugen Tenshin Ninja clan. They were more or less considered the Arc Family's 'Neighbors' that didn't get along well with each other. They got along perfectly well with the Arc family though and they would always order grandiose amounts of rice that were typically carried up the mountain by Johnathan until his passing. Now that task fell to his son Jaune and today he would make his very first delivery up the mountain to the Shiranui Clan Village up top.

That was where his life truly began as one of romance filled with adventure and excitement which started with him meeting a girl that he fell in love with. A spirited, big-breasted Kunoichi who always wore a skimpy outfit to distract her enemies yet was excellent in combat ability and had the biggest heart one could have.

At the basin of one of the Mountains and walking up the nearly endless path of stone steps leading to the Shiranui Clan's village at the top was a young blonde-haired lad carrying a large parcel over his back.

"Of all the ideas I had for exercising my body so I can get fit for this job, why did I think carrying a five-hundred-pound bag of rice over my shoulders and up these stairs was a good idea!?" He growled comically to himself as he tugged the bloated carrying pack up while straining his pectoral muscles in the process. He was a tall, blonde, well-built teenage boy with fair skin and piercing blue eyes.

Aside from carrying the large, overly-stuffed delivery backpack, he had worn a white tank top with a simple pair of jeans and a set of regular brown hiking boots. The latter of which was making him regret his choices since it was actually making it harder for him to climb the steps than he thought. Fortunately for him, it wasn't too much of a hassle since he was already in peak physical condition after having grown up on a farm. Resting at the right side of his hips were his Sword and Shield ensemble 'Crocea Mors' compacted into its sheathed state. The boy felt he needed to have that on him for self-defense at all times when out here in the wilderness.

The lad just happened to be a seventeen-year-old son named Jaune Arc. He was fairly tall for his age and rather handsome in the eyes of many village girls he comes across when visiting a village settlement to make a delivery. Unfortunately for him, he was lacking confidence when meeting women and trying to hit things off with a cheesy pick-up line. All of his bumbling mistakes in the past led to Jaune having no experience in the field of romance and it has stayed that way to this day. He figured he could always settle with one of the cuter village girls back in one of the towns they frequent, but Jaune personally wanted somebody unique and interesting who would make his life an exciting adventure. Wiping a bead of sweat from his brow, he looked up at the top of the steps and sighed quietly to himself.

"How did Dad manage to do this every week for these guys without dying from exhaustion?" He questioned as he continued up the steps some more, eventually reaching the horizon of the village entrance. The Shrine archway peeked into view over the final few steps and Jaune felt grandiose relief knowing that he had finally made it. 'You know, now that I think about it. If the Shiranui and the Mugen Tenshin hated each other so much, how come they always just remained bitter neighbors for years rather than trying to wipe each other out? Not that I want that or anything, but still it's something I've always wondered. Is it a ninja thing?'

Making his way closer, Jaune pondered on one of his father's many lame jokes. He was told once that the Arc family rice was so good and cherished by both clans that it was the only thing keeping them from waging all-out war with each other. Remembering him laughing about such a thing made Jaune smile fondly at the memory of his late father.

'He was probably just being silly, but I can't help thinking there may be some small grain of truth in all that nonsense, pun intended.' He thought as he finally arrived at the top of the stairs, greeted by the head of the Shiranui Clan himself; Grandmaster Hanzo Shiranui.

Hanzo had slightly tanned skin and wore a black and violet-colored gi. He sported a bushy, somewhat wily beard of white with matching hair and an often intense look on his face. From what little Jaune knew about him, Hanzo was a strict but fair teacher to all of his students inside of the village and funnily enough, he was also a fan of his father's many terrible knock-knock jokes. Upon seeing him arrive with the delivery backpack carried over his shoulders, Hanzo smiled brightly at Jaune as though he was a child looking forward to receiving some delicious candy.

"Ah, you finally made it. Welcome to the Shiranui Clan Village, Jaune. I've heard a lot about you from your father and am very glad you will be taking up his mantle as our Delivery boy.~" The old man greeted when Jaune arrived, flashing him a friendly smile nodding his head with respect.

"It's a pleasure to finally meet you too, Grandmaster Hanzo. That's me alright. Jaune Arc; short, sweet, and rolls off the tongue, ladies love it." Jaune quipped with a wink, earning a rather unamused look from the old man before he continued with his introduction. "I probably should've opened with a knock-knock joke instead, anyway, I'll be your new delivery boy starting today," Jaune explained with a somewhat saddened look on his face when remembering his father. This was not lost on Hanzo.

"My condolences to you and your family regarding Johnathan Arc's passing, he was a great man who had served us diligently for a very long time without complaint. I'll admit that I have also enjoyed his many knock-knock jokes throughout the years, their cheesiness and delivery often made me laugh." Hanzo said, making Jaune chuckle softly at the fond memory of his father. Hanzo waved Jaune in and gestured for him to follow as they started heading into the village. "Come on inside, I'll show you where you'll be making the drop-offs for deliveries from here on out. Since you're new here It may also be a good opportunity for you to stay awhile and become familiar with the village."

"Sounds peachy. Lead the way, Grandmaster." Jaune grunted with a smile as he followed Hanzo through the village, taking in the many wonderful sights of the cultural buildings everywhere he looked.

Much of their architecture was ornate yet practical and simplistic in artistic design. The village was vastly different from his humble region back down the mountain around the Anima countryside. While following Hanzo to the large temple, Jaune noticed that many pairs of eyes were looking his way in curiosity and wonder.  When they arrived inside the temple, Hanzo ushered Jaune over into the kitchen all the way in the back of the building.

'Wow, this is someplace they got here. It's like I'm looking at a totally different world entirely. It kinda makes me want to travel the world and see more sights just like it, preferably with a beautiful girlfriend.' Jaune thought to himself with an excitable smile on his face until he arrived inside the kitchen.

Undoing the latches of the backpack straps and removing them from his shoulders, Jaune placed it on top of a kitchen table and let out a sigh of relief. It was nearly five hundred pounds and it almost immediately murdered his spine carrying it all the way here. Hanzo eagerly opened it up and pulled out a round brick of white rice sealed fresh from within a plastic wrap package. He whiffed it with a smile and shuddered blissfully before putting it back on the table.

"Splendid, absolutely splendid. I can smell the very freshness coming off of it. Here is your pay, lad. Take note that earlier arrivals are greatly appreciated here, do plenty of that and you'll be graciously rewarded for the effort. The Shiranui Clan have adored Arc Family Rice for generations, it has served as both our meals as well making for Rice Balls to be taken on faraway missions. I won't say more than that though, but let's just say it is a cornerstone in keeping our people well-fed at all times." Hanzo explained as he took out a small envelope filled with a hefty amount of Mistral currency from inside of his robe and handed it over to Jaune.

The boy took it with gratitude and shook it a little, noticing it felt much heavier than he was expecting. He looked at Hanzo for answers and saw a friendly smile on his bearded face.

"That right there is a bonus in there for all your trouble, I imagine carrying a surplus amount up the mountain steps to our village is no easy task. We did order two weeks worth in advance after all, so this is my way of saying Thank you for your hard work in delivering it promptly." He explained, seeing Jaune smile gratefully and nod back at Hanzo in appreciation before shaking his hand.

"T-Thank you very much, Master Hanzo! That'll help with finances big time, I'll be sure to keep early arrivals going as much as possible." Jaune thanked and pocketed the money into one of his back pockets. "Heh, stairs aside, I think I'll like coming to your village anyway. It's such a beautiful place and seeing it honestly kinda makes me wanna travel the world. Well, I'd better be going. I've probably got a few more deliveries waiting for me back home."

"Don't mention it, Jaune. Have a safe trip down the mountain steps and always....always be careful of what you might find. This region far away from the Mistral Kingdom isn't exactly safe these days, the Grimm are acting up more than usual lately and we worry for your family down there." Hanzo cautioned and Jaune nodded in understanding. Thanking him again, he bade the Old Master goodbye for now and picked up the backpack before making his way out of the temple.

Feeling happy that his very first delivery went so smoothly, Jaune was ready to head back home and take a break before going out on yet another delivery, but just as soon as he left the temple doors he heard the faint sounds of wood being chopped into pieces nearby.

"Yah! Ha! Hee ya!"

Jaune thought he heard a female voice, one that sounded like she was apparently fighting something nearby and it drew his attention away from the Village exit south of the temple. He had the distinct urge to go see where it was coming from, not fully understanding why. Making his way down the side of the temple building and following the sounds of combat, he arrived in front of a spacious training zone somewhere closer to the gathering of bamboo trees just further to the side of the temple. He found what he was looking for.

In the distance, and with his mouth falling open,  he saw what was perhaps the most beautiful woman in the world fighting by herself in a training field full of wooden dummies. In one of her hands, she held what looked to be a bladed metal folding fan with another held in the second one. She expertly threw them with the force of a fast-moving shuriken into the heads of two wooden dummies facing her. With a swift movement of shining metal gleaming by, she had split each dummy's head down the middle with amazing precision. They flew away into the wall behind them and embedded themselves into the surface. He let his eyes wander all over her incredibly voluptuous body wearing an outfit far too skimpy for any regular woman to be in lest she wanted danger coming her way.

The girl had very little in the way of clothing covering that incredibly curvaceous body of hers, but she was also incredibly fit and apparently very deadly with her weapons. Jaune let his eyes stare at her as she gracefully backflipped over to her original position. This woman had an impossibly large pair of tits that were nearly bigger than her own head and they wriggled around salaciously like a pair of beach-balls from inside of her tight-fitting red top. They swerved with every single motion she made, hypnotizing Jaune to the point he was almost drooling.

"Wow. Just wow! Who is she? And why is her outfit so revealing? I'm guessing she's one of the ninjas of the clan, one that probably uses her sex appeal to get the drop on her male enemies. Oh man, I really hope she doesn't already have a boyfriend. Or worse; A psycho Ex-boyfriend who also happens to a Ninja." Jaune thought to himself as he continued to stare in awe at her.

She performed another vertical backflip into the air, making her breasts jiggle even more to where they threatened to slide out of her top once she landed again. Getting a closer look, he saw that she had cream-colored skin with no flaws or blemishes whatsoever. Additionally, her long brown hair had been tied back into an overlength ponytail, leaving a pair of elegant bladed bangs dripping down the sides of her face.

Over the rest of her body, she wore a small red vest worn over a tight-fitting red top that basically left her cleavage exposed to the naked eye. Jaune was still having trouble looking away from her chest the more she moved around like an elegant dancer. She also had a tight-fitting black waistband around her waist and at the bottom of it, there was very little covering her nearly-naked groin from sight with that loose-fitting loincloth she was wearing. Her pubic region was almost completely visible since he could see her hip bones and inner thighs so easily, but then his attention shifted to her long full-bodied legs after she delivered a high-kick to the air. She had it done in a standing-split fashion, showing just how flexible she can be with a body that was as toned as it was voluptuous.

Seeing her do all that was making Jaune begin to pitch a tent in his pants as he remained standing there in his hiding spot looking at her with an awestruck smile on his face. Apart from the flimsy red loincloth worn around her hips, the girl also wore a pair of Shinobi sandal shoes around her feet with a pair of black bands over each of her wrists. On her backside and located down the midsection of her waist she also sported a large white tassel accessory made out of rope hanging out from behind her back. Her outfit was so revealing yet remained both practical and sexy.

As soon as she stopped performing her high kicks she walked over to the wall where she embedded her fans into earlier and pulled them out. She turned her attention back to more dummies over at her far-right and readied herself by getting into an attack posture again. This time she clutched her fans tightly and kept each one folded between her fingertips, channeling her innate Chakra energies into each one by using the traditional Shiranui Ninja Clan methods taught to her at an early age. This spectacle utterly amazed Jaune and he watched her encase one of them in a blaze before throwing it at the dummy to her left. It destroyed the mannequin entirely in a blast of fiery energy and burning wood before the fan flew back into her hand like it was a boomerang.

Cupping his cheeks in comical surprise he wondered what kind of Ninja Art that could be since he had never seen anything like it before at all. Jaune assumed it must be her Semblance. After dispersing the fire energy around one fan, she lit the other one up the same way but with crackling lightning energy this time around. Once more, she threw it at the other dummy to her right and caused another small explosion to occur as a result. The dummy exploded into smoldering chunks of wood that were rolling onto the ground as she got her fan back via boomerang momentum again. The girl breathed out a sigh of relief while standing in a provocative pose, her chest was hanging low and making those luscious melons of hers jiggle salaciously as a result.

"Hmmm, not too shabby.~" The girl said to herself, smiling adorably as she fanned her face using one of her fans. Watching the performance and seeing her boobs hanging low left Jaune utterly speechless. He was so drawn to what he had just seen that he mistakenly uttered his awe loud enough for her to hear.

"Wow.....!" He yelped loudly, causing the girl to turn her head in his direction with a curious look on her face. Jaune immediately flinched in panic and covered up his mouth, feeling utterly ashamed of himself for having stared at her like he was a creep and thinking he may have torpedoed any chances he had at a good first impression. 'Crap, crap, crap! I-I was so geeked out by everything she was doing that I accidentally gave myself away! I need to go now, otherwise, she'll see me and think I'm a total creeper for spying on her like that!'

He was about to run away and make a dash for the village exit until he saw the girl suddenly bow her head respectively out of nowhere to him, causing her cleavage to jiggle a little bit more from within her loose top. Trying not to get distracted by her vivacious body again, Jaune stayed where he was and looked at the girl with an apologetic smile on his face.

"I apologize, I didn't see you there. I should've held back my attack in case you got caught up in the explosion of my Chakra energy. It can be dangerous to anyone who might be passing by at the wrong time." She began with a soft and girly voice. She raised her head and smiled at Jaune in a bright and flirtatious manner that made his heart start skipping a beat. The girl then tilted her head to the side and placed a finger at her lips when looking at Jaune directly, giggling to herself a little and never letting her eyes wander away from him. "So, did you enjoy the show? Hehehehe."

Jaune nodded dumbly, making her giggle once again as she walked right up to him.

"I've never seen you here before, are you our new delivery man for the rice?" She asked, making him hear the voice of a pure yet seductive angel call out to him. The girl's voice was so soft and wholesome that he almost couldn't stand it. She just oozes charm and femininity with a healthy abundance of innocence sprinkled in.

Gathering the courage to talk to her and moving closer so that he didn't appear rude, Jaune nodded back to her with a friendly smile on his face and spoke up. He was honestly happy that he didn't scare her away with his spying just now.

"I....feel like I should be the one who should be apologizing. I mean I did watch your training practice without permission. Hope I didn't give off the wrong impression or anything like that, I was just so wowed by what you did. B-but anyway, yeah, I'm the new Delivery guy here to bring you our family's freshly-farmed rice to the village at your convenience, promptly and diligently or your money back, heh. My name's Jaune Arc, it's short, sweet, rolls off the tongue. Ladies love it." He introduced and winked after saying the last part, mentally kicking himself for saying that lame pick-up line in the first place. 'Crap! I did it again! That catchphrase never won me popularity with women before and now she's going to think I'm totally lame!'

"Hehe hehe. Do they now....? Well, I certainly do." She giggled, making his heart sing even more for it was the cutest giggle he had ever heard in his life. Deciding to play things cool and feeling relieved she didn't dismiss him for making such a bad pick-up line introduction, Jaune cleared his throat and tried staying composed when he spoke up again.

"They will....or at least I hope they will...someday. Anyway, I gotta say I'm really loving the way your village looks. It's certainly something my father never told me enough about when making deliveries here.~" He replied, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly with a nervous smile. The girl was rather intrigued by him and didn't seem off-put by his goofiness at all, if anything, she was invested in him even more because of it.

"I am very sorry for your loss, I know the Delivery man was your father and he passed away recently due to illness. My condolences, no one should have to lose a parent so early in their life." She said in a somber and respectful tone that Jaune very much appreciated in honor of his late father.

"Thank you, I appreciate hearing you say that, really, it means a lot to me. Dad was a good man and a great father, but he was a terrible comedian that apparently made your Village Leader laugh with some of his 'Funny' knock-knock jokes." Jaune said back to her, lightening the mood a bit and making the girl giggle once again. He was feeling a natural chemistry brewing between them already, giving him hope that maybe....just maybe, she would see him in some kind of attractive light. Jaune wasn't getting his hopes up though, this girl was a certified one-hundred out of ten and impossibly out of his league.

"My name is Mai Shiranui, I'm a Kunoichi here that serves my Village as a defense Ninja and the occasional representative in a fighting tournament held between our clans. It's a pleasure to meet you, Ladies Man Jaune Arc.~" She greeted playfully and saw a goofy smile on his face when she tapped his nose with a finger.

"Wait, Shiranui.....? Does that mean that you're related to Grandmaster Hanzo by chance? Oh boy. I'm not in trouble for hitting on his granddaughter or something, am I?" Jaune let out in a somewhat fearful tone, making a comical face of morbid horror that Mai found incredibly hilarious. She calmed him down and immediately shook her head side-to-side with a smile.

"No, no, relax. Grandfather knows that I can take care of myself. He never has to worry about me nor does he concern himself with any guy that tries flirting with me.~" Mai reassured him, seeing him clutch his chest as he let out a sigh of relief.

Jaune still felt nervous though, he had never gone this far with a beautiful girl before and worried he was going to screw it up somehow. Knowing she was Hanzo's granddaughter certainly didn't help, but even so, he was a friendly and understanding patron to his family's farm. The man certainly seemed kind enough not to wanna toss Jaune out of the village for flirting with his granddaughter.

'He is very cute and funny, you hardly see men like him around here in the village.' Mai thought to herself, keeping a coy smile on her face she brought up the topic of her grandfather again.

"Is that a fact? Well, that's peachy to hear. Heh, I should probably get going now though before it gets dark. This Delivery boy is positive more orders are waiting for him back home at the farm. It was a pleasure to meet you, Mai." Jaune stammered, making Mai embrace her decision to tease Jaune a little more and amuse herself with him.

She walked up to him and placed a warm kiss directly on his right cheek, making steam come out of his ears and his face redden immediately while he stiffened up like a wooden plank.

"*Giggles* The pleasure's all mine. I hope I can see you again real soon, Jaune.~" She cooed seductively and stepped back, seeing him shakily attempt to walk away after nodding back to her with a goofy red-faced smile. Mai gave him a wink and started waving at him as he gradually made his way toward the exit of the village, eventually started to walk his way downstairs while looking back at her and waving back.

Mair was feeling the most excited she's been in a long time now and felt her heart stir with an unfamiliar need to see him again right away. While Jaune started making his way down the hundreds of stone steps, he was positively gushing over what he had just experienced and wanted to tell his family the good news as soon as he got home.

'I....I...I actually flirted with a girl and it went great!' Jaune thought to himself with excitement as he rushed down the steps, thinking about Mai constantly the entire time. Eventually, he made his way down to the very bottom without realizing it, still finding himself lost in thought with his mind focused on this beautiful girl with such a friendly personality.

He looked back at the top of the mountain again, smiling fondly at the memory he just shared with that one spunky ninja girl. Jaune touched the spot on his cheek where she had kissed him and felt it remain surprisingly warm as though there was a magic trick she used to make it do that.

'Did she really channel her Ninja Fire Magic or whatever into that kiss? Cuz I'm totally feeling it stay warm right now. She is so awesome...! Though that does kinda beg the question of Ninja magic even is in the first place. Maybe they just have a way of channeling Aura that makes it look like magic. Oh, who cares! I managed to flirt with a girl for a change and I didn't screw it! This is the best First Delivery ever!' Jaune thought to himself, giddy with excitement and happiness as he continued making his way down the mountain path on his way home.

He eventually made out of the mountain's basin and looked out into the distance of the fields where his farm stood about a mile and a half away. Pacing down the path leading to it, Jaune's thoughts were still on Mai, feeling he had developed a crush on her. The first crush he's had in a long time, but he had been so distracted by his thoughts that he failed to notice the distant growling noises just a few paces behind him.

They growled even louder and became more in number until they were close enough for Jaune to finally hear them and freeze mid-step. He heard a collection of feral noises coming from behind him close by. His right hand slowly crept down his waist to where his compacted sword/shield Crocea Mors remained waiting for him to draw it out.

'Crap, just when things were finally going my way for once too. Well, I guess it's a good thing I bring my shield and sword with me for just such an occasion.' Jaune thought to himself with clenched teeth and quickly pulled out the sword from the hilt of its compacted sheathe, letting it transition into a moderate-length kite shield that slid over his left arm.

He turned around to face off against a pack of Beowolves and Ursa prowling closer to him as they came out of the greenery of the mountain basin. There were six of them in total and they deftly large in mass and Bone-armor growth which indicated adulthood. Each one of these dark, hulking beasts was riddled with black tar-like fur and bone-white masks with fangs snarling ferally with hunger at him. They were ready to rend the flesh from Jaune's body as soon as possible as they started their assault and did so by charging him all at once!

"Shit, shit, shit, shit, shit! Don't all come at me at once! Let's do this tournament-style!" Jaune let out, feeling nervous about fighting them at all since he knew Beowolves always traveled in packs of six or more at any given time. He shifted his footing and brought his shield up to his chest, keeping his sword at an even angle so that he could swing through them with full strength and defend himself properly at the same time.

He had no armor and no means of getting back to the farm without risking evisceration from behind. Plus, there was no guarantee he could outrun them before he could reach it, but worst of all was that Jaune was already exhausted from having gone up and come down the stone steps earlier upon completing his delivery. Traversing all those steps really left him winded and made him regret attempting an exercise of that magnitude out in the open like this.

"Well, I guess it's a good time to put all my self-taught skills to the test. Let's just hope I'm not in over my head on this." He said to himself and gripped his blade tightly as the first Beowolf lunged at him with claws outstretched.

In a mad rush of speed and panic, Jaune swung his sword hard and sliced the monster's face deftly, making it tumble back, but not having hit it hard enough to actually kill it. He quickly jabbed his blade point-wise to the side at another one that attempted to flank him, making its skull become impaled by the sword before he quickly flung it in the direction of the others in hopes of slowing them down!
