Why do you make their hair black? I’m just curious😊 does it help you somehow in the process? Or is it just convenient for you to see what their hair looks like (i mean if it’s large enough or something)?

It’s a technique I saw another artist friend using when she worked on lineart. When I paint hair I like to leave it kind of free flowing and not lined in because I feel like it looks more natural. Usually when I am working on lineart I fill in the hair completely with black to get the shape of it correct, and I do this on a layer completely separate from the rest of my lines. When I start coloring I usually clip a layer over the black hair and paint bucket fill it in with the color I actually want for their hair 😂 it might seem like I over complicate things but I guess I just like to have the correct shape of the hair figured out before I start coloring the drawing. I will usually come in later and add more details and shapes or loose strands if I feel like I didn’t get the shape correct in the beginning!
