I figured it's time for a dragon, so here she is :3 She has crystalline cracks on her body and horns, and a general liking for crystal-adorned items. And probably quite the bratty personality...In order to participate, you must answer the prompt:

If she had a special magical ability, what would it be?

Rules:

•  Try to keep it within a couple sentences•  Post your entry as a comment to this post•  There is no correct answer! Just come up with something you think would fit.•  Only one entry per person•  My TOS contest prize section applies to this design

Submit your entry in the comments before it turns February (in -12UTC, the last timezone in the world). The winner will receive the character design pictured, including transparent background versions.

I'll pick the winner based on how creative/fitting/funny or otherwise interesting I think the entry is!

I think shed probably be able to summon large Crystal growths everywhere around them and be able to control them- either able to form stuff like magical golems or create fancy art projects like forests and sculptures and stuff :3

mazinja

The crystals in her body are a hint: she can make crystals grow from the ground like they were plants. She can use this ability to trap or corral people if she wants... but mostly she uses it to snack on the crystals themselves. They taste different depending on the ground!

Kolo

I'd give her lightning and magnetic powers. The crystals on her body conduct static from the environment at will and she can unleash a pulse of electricty, or draw in metals or an EMP. Lastly I would suggest she can eat crystals and gain traits and powers based on the type of crystal it was and maybe refuse to eat certain kinds she dislikes to be in line with a somewhat bratty personality.

Tonkatsu Shunittseru

Something about her speaks "lightning magic" to me. Maybe when she gets angry, the blue highlights on her body start sparking and her twin tails raise from the static.

Detocroix

Her power is dimensional gate, she can easily at any time step through a crystalline gate that only shows when she opens it, and reappear in any other place that she can see. The downside is, that each time she steps through a gate, a random part of her is mirrored on anyone around both when she disappeared and where she reappeared. E.g. she might step through a gate, people around her might get duplicate of her tail, and anyone near the emergence gate might get duplicate of her breasts and horns.

friskeyacoon

her special magical ability is making friends. because friendship is magic! :3

MasterXdoof

Her lightning is different. It scatters in branching bursts, yet instead of burning, it leaves crystalline ice where it lands, freezing whatever it touches. Her blue crystal ornaments glow a lighter blue when she uses her magical ability

CosmicServalLeo

Ok so.. sent a post earlier but deleted it for a better idea: Crystal Memory Crystal Memory is a unique ability where she can tap into the ancient memories stored within crystals and use them to gather knowledge, communicate with the past, or even relive events. Crystals, with their ability to absorb energy and information, hold traces of history and emotions that she can access. By touching a crystal, she can see, hear, and feel past events that the crystal has absorbed. For instance, touching a crystal might let her witness the moment it was formed or experience the emotions and actions of those who interacted with it. She can also use crystals as a medium to communicate with those long gone, whether through their voice or as visions. This could allow her to consult ancient sages, or even call upon the consciousness of a forgotten being.

Small_Lo

She has the ability to turn other things into crystals as well. But she can freely choose whether she wants to turn it into a movable or immovable crystal. This ability is irreversible, but since turning into a crystal is basically a form of immortality, some people try to ask her to turn themselves into crystals by giving her gift.

LunaFrost

Her magical ability is the creation of crystals an inate connection to the eart has given her the ability to create crystals out of even the most simple of ricks when she creates them her body glows bright with mana which then transfers to her target which glow and crack in the sane way

Noob Mania

Playing into the blue coloring and her liking for crystals. Her body naturally produces mana. The mana radiates off her body, giving her crystalline cracks a soft glow. She can utilize her crystalline ornaments as a base to grow mana crystals. She can utilize the mana for typical magic uses as well.

Jarvis

I think an interesting magical ability she could have is something relating to magnetism. With the copper hoops in her hair and how it relates to the crystals and minerals. But she could be able to float rocks and it would be almost like electricity if visualized.

Nukepone

Kiss magic. The magic of kissing me. And also maybe hugging.

Der Burger

You know how in a fantasy world nobody has a way to communicate over long distances? Hah. You thought.. but you're wrong. Sylvia (that's her name) can infuse crystals of a nearby mine with magic so that voice can be send between two of them. These always work as a pair. Like a fantasy walkie talkie. To start the call you shake one of them and the other starts ringing. When the other person picks up the crystal the call starts. Being a dragon Sylvia has also the advantage to deliver the crystal to both clients herself via flight.

Kaross Kaross

Simply put: summoning magic. The reason why she collection those crystals is because her magic is linked to them: she can summon from any crystal that isn't one of her natural body or horn crack a Crystalian, spirit living in said crystal. Each type of crystal has it own crystalian, and... Like some with pokemons... She want to complete her collection and brag about it.

digitdeer

I think her special magical ability would be similar kintsugi, the art of fixing broken pottery with gold. The cracks in her body design represent this, as she would have the extraordinary ability to instantly repair anything broken, by sealing them together with a special blue gold she naturally produces from her body that flows off of her fingertips into the cracks.

nightstar6

Kintsugi is always fun. Ive got an elemental type character who's body heals and makes scars like gold cracks through their body.

Laggyb0i

Her magical ability is called crystal resonance. She can use her powers to find any and all crystal/gems filled mana within a 2.5 km radius. The more mana crystal/gem has the more her horns glow and crystals on her glow. If you have any she will try her best to steal them.(Aka she is a crystal radar.)

Nurgle

Her talent is dowsing, or locating things. She can 'feel' the path to whatever she's seeking through both the crystals on her body and the ones on her rings, locating anything from lost house keys to ancient and lost relics with great precision. These abilities are always in demand, with both adventurers on great quests and villagers in the town around her lair seeking her aid. Unfortunately, her personality isn't quite as nice as her skills- she's a totally lazy brat, often demanding outlandish payments, belly rubs, entertainment- or even adding a few stops the path she gives to adventurers so they'll stumble across some other things she wants on their journey and bring them back. Despite it all, she is a respected figure in her region, seen as both a guardian and a sage.

Orb Juggler

She can absorb the magic of elder dragons into her crystal. Being a descendant of these elder dragons is something she's very proud and smug about. Her lifelong quest is to find the resting places of all the elder dragons so she may learn to channel all their magics.

Night Star

Her magical ability to to concentrate different kinds of magic into crystals of different sizes which effect how powerful the magic in the crystal is. For instance, she concentrates healing magic into a crystal that can be used to heal woulds, or concentrate ice magic into a crystal capable of freezing lakes and whole areas of land. Not that she shares these crystals often though, often keeping them to herself, after all, she made them, no one else should have them but her, according to her~

Ryan Vilbrandt

She can detect others' emotions around her, and those emotions light up the crystalline sections of her body from within like an RGB mood ring. It's affected by proximity (so, like, if she has a melancholy person on her left and a happy person on her right, she'd have a blue-ish fade on her left and an orange/yellow on her right). She can use her magic to soothe erratic emotions back to a baseline.

Nuwa Nightstone

If she had a magical ability it would be the Midas touch (gem edition) where she can use her magical power to fuel gem transformation. Living things remain alive but become animated creatures. Non living things become a random gemstone type.

Runo_Copper

Her special magical ability is the creation of dimensional Rifts wich allow her to travel betweem space and time. She can visit every place at any time she wamts to visit. That commes in handy since she has an interest into historical evebts but also is corious about the future

nightstar6

Her magic is focused on light. She can produce bright light from herself. For example her hands or feat. Normally this wouldnt be able to be used offensively beyond just blinding someone. She uses the crystals on her outfit to magnify and direct the light into more direct beams, that can produce heat and such

Edgar Crass

I think her special magical ability would be matter manipulation. She'd be able to essentially violate the laws of thermodynamics and be able to create anything from nothing, destroy anything, or to transmute objects/things into other objects/things without conserving matter or energy. It's essentially the fancy version of alchemy... so long as we forget about the dog and girl...

Blank Screen

Her magical ability is culinary perception. After eating food, she can peer into the past and see its creation unfold. From just smallest crumb, she could learn how to perfectly recreate any dish, leading her to a humble yet successful life as a chef… …but one day, she discovered her powers were not limited to food. Her body was a vessel that could peer back in time to watch the creation of anything. She could see the forest sprout and civilizations rise. She could watch the birth of its people… the story of their lives and how they came to be… And of her own… A witness to creation itself… with the most awkward way ever to channel it.

Obsidian the Dragon

Crystal dragons are traditionally psychic! Thus, I think her powers will probably be telepathy and telekinesis. However they affect her in cute ways, she can feel the emotions of those around her, particularly about her, and she flusters easily, getting bashful and bratty, with pebbles and other small things being lifted by TK like an aura. Her crystal bits also brighten and change colors like a mood-ring.

Regis Manatur

The crystal dragon is a mystical creature that performs a number of miracles for beings that deign to meet them. So it's not unprecedented that the one before us is a doctor of a sorts, her cracked horns allow her magics to escape her to help with the healing process. She loves showing the glowing to small children who need help getting over a cold and to the elderly who wish to be eased and cured of the pains of aging. She goes from town to town helping cure those who need it all the while studying new ways to use the magics of healing to help others. She is happy to help with her healing magics... but don't be fooled, she is not to be trifled with.

Zollo Magi

It takes some "eating" on her part - the crystals need fuel to generate matter, but each of her crystal accessories can consume minerals to grow and expand. The quality of the material determines how brittle or tough the growths are, letting her use them as crafting material for additional accessories or even, if push comes to shove, as makeshift shields and weapons in combat, given she can coax them into specific shapes and sizes.

WickedFox

Whenever she is targeted with magic, she can absorb the magic via the gems on her body which causes them to fall off (they grow back over time). She can then throw the fallen gem to cause that same magic to happen wherever the thrown gem shatters.

kriojnes

Her general appearance gives a mystical yet naturally inclined linage: As the apex of the life cycle of an ecosystem her and her family's powers align with the balance of nature, manifesting in small but rippling effects such as healing and restoring fauna. Additionally for this character specifically a quirk to her specific power is the health of geology; restoring water springs, limiting rock face degradation and so on. (Whether of not she lives up to these duties or just uses them for her own convenience however is up for debate :3)

Zzyriphian

I think her magical ability would be lightning based. Summoning it, controlling it, directing it and so on. Her jewelry is as much about keeping that power in check when she loses a bit of control over it as it is about looking good. That being said, I think she would try to avoid using her magic very often- The static makes her hair poof out!

Foxtrot

Her magical ability is to take things and store them in a hammer space. Even though this sounds simple she can store anything she thinks she can fit in it. From a blanket to pure sunlight anything she thinks she can fit in it will go right in.

feedmepaperr

I think it'd be cool if she had like, a transformation type thing? Like, she'd be able to turn into a full size dragon, and back into her human size form, and maybe a cute chibi form too? I could see some cute plot potential with that :3

Brady Lonson

Her magic focuses around gems! She is attuned to the earth's precious stones and can attune to their magical properties and carve them perfectly into her desired shape.

Hexin

Oh! How about an enchanting ability? She can enchant items and sell them for big bucks to get more crystals for her collection / hoard

Tylor the Tygor

The crystal and jagged lightning-ish vibe gives me the thought of her manipulating and creating crystal that can be charged to channel lightning through. She gains control of the area as she grows and manipulates more crystal, charging and using it to cast more of her magic

Andy

She can store corruption in her crystals, using it for purification or power. But overuse warps her form and mind. She uses her accessories as extra crystals that aren't directly tied to her. Stored energy gives her a slight glow.

SqueakyKitty

Her crystals are rock-candy that she can grow at will. Very Avatar the Last Airbender. Well, some of them are, anyways. He likes to make people guess, and will even play jokes by handing out real crystals while promising they're candy.

NekoMimiMizu

How about magic related to mental manipulation. A subtle spell that compels others to follow her will without realizing they're under her influence. Those affected by her spell would aid in her in collecting crystals to grow her hoard and magical trinkets to increase her power.

Mike

When she rests or meditates, she slows time and solidifies it into crystals on the rings around her. The sizes of the crystals represent how much temporal power she has stored. When she feels the need to warp time around herself the crystals and her markings that match their color begin to glow. This gives her the ability to move through spacetime causing her to seem to move very rapidly, or slow others to a stop. I would know. I gazed upon her and froze until just now, time warped. Thankfully she freed me from my time prison before the month became February.
