Really, Red? The man just gave your kids fish! Honestly, I'm wondering if the pups will be the deciding factor here. They already were saved by Hawthorn, after all, and Rask did just feed them, so they may have opinions on this now that they've eaten and are focused. The fact that Swift isn't just killing him is good, I hope...

I feel that though this is a story in which almost anyone can die, Rask has to have plot armor as the central charactor. But Sybil's line about building for others what you will not be able to experience yourself does circle around again in my mind. I think this story could continue with other characters inspired by Rask's choices, even if he were not to survive it himself...

Ugh Rask dying would really gut me but I could understand, hopefully we’d get other marten characters though, I like those lil guys, would be sad to have zero marts

I don’t *love* this scenario per say, but I could imagine: Swift hastily and without warning taking Rask’s life to prove a point, while Red tepidly intervenes to no avail (similar to Rask and Sprig), Red is haunted by this, later sacrificing himself when given the chance, forcing Swift to reconcile with all this.

Great, now I'm even more scared. Realistically I see either the pups 'stepping in' and being confused about why the adults want to kill their friend, OR someone was following Rask to make sure he didn't get into a situation like this... but still...

I sure hope Red grabbed Rask so he could retell the whole story with his influence without vanishing into the forest. I would hope that Rask sparing Swift, feeding the pups TWICE, and Hemlock sparing the pups would start adding up and invoke some kind of wolf-honor.. I hope (Prey wishful thinking)
