Dhaka Yeena

These pages fuel my mondays, I’m always looking forward to that notification. Another great page here. I feel like we might get flashback here? Maybe we’ll see what happened to Red

Kairo

Swift is going to lunge isnt she....rambling to get them distracted so she can take out the leader.

Adelaide

I’m getting the feeling Swift is ready to pounce….

Sarah

Oh she’s gonna GO FOR Oren

Dhaka Yeena

How crazy would it be if Swift bit the dust in the next page. Which I highly doubt it but still, if she went for Oren she’d most likely pounce ito spears and quills

JeffMakesGames

She has to know that attacking would put Red and her pups in danger. Outright attacking puts her family in danger, so I don't think she will.

Morpheus

Bow CHicca.. wait no...

Demoriel

Uh oh! Count me in as thinking Swift may be getting ready to pounce!

Grey

She might pounce! Or she might be surprised that the people here willingly follow an old, disabled hare, after the torment she's gone through in her own family.

Tori Sol

If Swift does pounce, I can see Rask taking the hit for Oren. It'd be shocking and ballsy for one of our MCs to get killed at this point, and it would pretty much solidify Oren's opinion that wolves can never be trusted.

Same, this comic has single handedly made Monday my favorite day of the week, which conversely also stopped the late Sunday dread of the weekend coming to an end

Gale Tazzin

heh, I hadn't considered that angle before, that a rabbit with a spear is no more dangerous than a bison, which Swift has already learned how to kill

A Mills

Dude if Rask sacrifices himself I might not recover but honestly this is Teagan’s world so I accept her decision but goddamn, I kinda despise Swift

Chasey

It does look she's about to lunge, I agree, but I hope she doesn't... I feel like the story is trying to head in the direction of eventually having Swift on board, and if she attacks now it's a big setback.

North

That was my thought too, that we're about to learn just what happened to Red and how hard Swift's had to fight for him to be allowed to live - the possibility of safety for him and the pups seems like the main reason Swift's even considering all of this.

Dhaka Yeena

Part of me really hoped Swift and Rask make some kinda deal something like “if you keep my mate and pups safe, I’ll help you”

Krzysztof K

I feel like Swift has forgotten why she ran away and is now hiding in the forest. She probably knows full well that this other pack will come to the forest, and if the Hollow animals don't harm her, the Zenith wolves will surely do something to her and her family. Scree helped her the first time, and let's not forget Hemlock, who protected the pups from Seral and took pity on them, leaving them alone (P.S. Yes, I know Hemlock might not have realized what Seral wanted to do to the pups), but now she's alone, and Singer and Pivot certainly haven't forgotten what she did to Keen. I honestly don't understand why she doesn't run away and stays in the forest. Maybe she thinks the bear story will stop the Zenith pack, but even she didn't believe it.

"As me for a small wolf with big hopes, and I know right where to find one" - Red Swift talking about how brutal and hopeless the grasslands are is really interesting here, because so many of her actions were based on the hope of a better world. A world where nobody has to be left behind. She's talking about her life and experience in the grasslands in the past tense, and is clearly separating the two worlds. As if she were trying to leave that world behind. The forest has always been a source of hope for her, even if that hope is ever changing. From a source of food, to a source of safety, and now -- after learning about Orens physical state -- A budding hope of a world that wouldn't leave Red behind. I feel like her bringing up how scary the bison really are is just a lead in to how Red was injured. That her body language shift is more from her thinking about and trying to communicate just how terrifying bison can be, rather than any true aggression towards Rask or Oren. So I'm firmly on team no-pounce

Microgrampup

She also explained that there are possibly big cats where they need to travel through, and if so, she likely won’t be able to defend her mate and pups.

Microgrampup

Rask clearly didn’t understand what kind of hunters he was talking to when he tried warning them that the Hollow could kill the wolves if they force them to defend themselves. But the possibility of dying goes with virtually every routine hunt for a wolf, it would be like Rask trying to warn Yarrow that he can’t hunt the animals of the Hollow because they run away instead of rolling over to become a meal. Swift is talking about regular, old world bison though. The risk is only for the hunter, bison don’t track down wolf packs and hunt them down back, with the intent to target the young and the weak if available. Armed animal communities however, she might as well believe she can just treat a large wolf pack like a herd of bison.

Gale Tazzin

he may have a giant spear but she's off the market

Krzysztof K

Do you remember which page this is mentioned on?

Krzysztof K

Thank you, it slipped my mind after such a long break. It's been a while since Teagan published this page.

Wyn Bird

I like that Rask and Swift are both predators but have SUCH different worldviews/priorities/cultures/what have you. He's thinking they have something in common and trying to connect and bring her into the fold, but he doesn't really understand where she's coming from or how to reach her. I feel just like Oren not really "getting" Rask, Rask doesn't "get" Swift either. There's a gap there and I'm so invested in seeing how this plays out! Absolutely love the depth of everything happening in this story and with these interesting, unique characters who each have their own motivations and ideas about how the world could/should be!

Krzysztof K

True, but we saw how it ended for Yarrow who underestimated the simple "sharp stick

Gale Tazzin

Yarrow would lose to a bison too

JeffMakesGames

Well, Swift and Red obviously don't believe the bear story now, because Rask TOLD Red that Oren killed the bear. So Swift and Red now know there is no bear there. When the Zenith enter the woods, it's unclear if Hemlock and others have been keeping up any kind of evidence that a bear might be present, but not sure if they would be deterred from searching.

Julian Seguin

But it’s not like she can kill a bison on her own.

Gale Tazzin

true, she needs to create generations of ritual and acquire a ceremonial outfit to do that
