When Seral wakes up to interact, Red and Swift turn serious and distant. Which is reasonable. But I thought Seral wouldn't even be allowed to sleep in the den...

This comic takes place in a nebulous time between Volume One/Two, so I imagine this is before Singer's pack makes contact with Seral/Gristle and tensions start to rise.

Looweezah

Oh, I was talking about how he left Red to die in the fields after the accident (since Red has his scars)

teagangavet

Ah, gotcha! It was Swift that brought Red back after being trampled, with Seral/Scree/Ramble leaving him for dead. Red and Seral never speak in the comic (until Seral finds him in the grass, anyway) so I imagine they just... pointedly ignore one another. (I've spent a fair bit of time in small rural villages in Alaska and some of the interpersonal conflicts are... let's say, /extreme/, but everyone still has to coexist in some manner for the great good of the community. That's more or less my touch-stone for wolf social life.)

I wonder if that's foreshadowing in the fourth panel? There's at least one place left now where they're grouping up..

Thomas Kubler

Agreed. And there's one raven and one wolf on their way as they speak.

Amethysmus

I just noticed that the one-eyed wolf's other eye is also a bit cloudy.

Dimitri

to see all the wolves, it is not a pack but a family.

Reseen Dalls

Logical. Sapiens creatures would naturally adapt fast to such new menace. Too bad it kinda put an end to some of their old traditions.

Maximus Coyotox

In the wild, wolf packs ARE families. The research and experiments around wolf behaviour in the 1940s is outdated, disproven by the same guy who did the experiment in the first place.

Dimitri

that's why I marked it, because it's nice.
