This month has flown by so fast. Faster than I wanted. Which is unfortunately not good news, because I didn't make as much progress with the chapter as I had hoped at the beginning of the month. One of the reasons for this is that I have been travelling a lot, basically not spending a weekend at home. The other is that I had to substitute a lot in my full-time job because of the summer holidays. And on top of that, unfortunately, I had to take on more work, because everything is getting more expensive, but my salary is not increasing at the same time.

And, as if that wasn't enough, the heat this week hasn't allowed me to use the computer as much as I should have. Because my computer is in a small room, which can turn into hell very quickly. But since it's also my office, I have to stay in there somehow. Although the advantage of the home office is that I can be almost naked, I can't stand the hellfire for long.  Of course work hasn't stopped, I set up the images during the day and render at night.

As a result of all this, I am once again unable to say anything encouraging about the releasing. It will be ready when it is ready. Sorry. I really try to get it done as quickly as possible.

And now the good news. The chapter is already playable, but the end is missing pictures and animations. This is good news, because I will start the translation work on 1 July, which means that by the time the rest of the pictures are ready, I will have finished the translation. Previously, I finished the coding at about the same time as I finished the rendering, so it took me a couple of extra weeks to finish the translation. This will not be the case now.

The other good news is that I quit my full-time job. From August onwards, I'll be working for the company as an outsourcer, which means I can spend as much time as I think it's worth for the money they pay me. That means I can devote much more time to the game (and my other creative projects), which I'd much rather do. It was not an easy decision to make in this economic climate, it took me two years to come to a decision, but I had to take it. The pay was too low, the expectations too high and the work became too much.  We're a third as many as we should be, yet management expects us to outperform the competition, which employs four times as many people as we do, while our pay is below minimum wage.  Plus, I'd been working there for ten years, so I was already burnt out. Maybe I did something stupid, maybe I made the best decision of my life. Time will tell what will happen.

My goal now is definitely to spend much more time on the RotCL development. Which is already fulfilled by the fact that I don't have to work on-call, and there will be no unexpected calls to fill in for a colleague who has gone on a day off.
