Hi everyone,

If you’ve been following our releases this month, you probably noticed that we mentioned we were planning to switch to Foundry v14 and D&D v6 only starting next month.

Some of you have asked if we could delay this a little longer, so we wanted to make a quick poll to see what your plans are for Foundry v14 and D&D v6. This will help us decide how to handle development in the near future.

We also wanted to explain why we’re excited to move development toward the new versions.

With Foundry v14, and especially D&D v6, we can now do a lot more directly with the core system. For example, we can create difficult terrain that actually slows token movement, and effects that expire at the beginning or end of a turn can now expire correctly.

These are things we’ve been waiting years to have available directly in the core system.

We can also make darkness and light work properly on spell templates and regions, without needing custom tokens or other workarounds.

Our plan is to add automation to our spell animations where needed, and update our magic items and monster compendiums as soon as possible to take advantage of all these new features. We think this will improve gameplay a lot, and as players ourselves, we’re really excited to start using them.

Once we start updating everything around the new systems, maintaining compatibility with two major Foundry and D&D versions at the same time would be impossible while also continuing to create new content and features.

So before we move further in that direction, we’d really like to hear what your plans are. 😊

The upgrade from v12 to v14 was too fast. I've delayed my upgrade to v14 because it was going to be too disruptive in my current campaign.

The support is not fully there yet for alot of supportive intagrate moduals once they are ready then i will upgrade

I’m waiting for Cauldron of Plentiful Resources to update, but that’s taking them a long time. They’ve still given no estimate of when they’ll finish… they’ve rebuilt the main mod, but still have to re-do hundreds of automations before it’s ready.

Web Dove

I am also waiting for CPR and midi to be converted to v14

Bill Wilder

Waiting for cauldron and gambits premades to be foundry 14 and DnD v6 compatible. Hopefully that's within the next two months bc that's what I picked...

Snow

I'm also waiting for Cauldron of Plentiful Resources and other supporting modules to update to work with both v14 and D&D v6.

Atomics

Not updating to v6 until CPR and Midi are updated for it.

Marshal Schoener

I was only upgrading because of this module. I wouldn't mind an extra few months. All these comments about CPR. I have to check out what that is :)

Ontario

No CPR no update - its too convenient

Darshyne Izumi

I switched to v14 and v6 and do my own automation suite. Iam fine

Philip Brown

Hoping Midi and CPR will update soon - they are making progress but they aren't ready yet. Posney of Midi said he's working on it and hopes to have something out in the next week or so but it likely will just be a beta for testing since there's a lot to do with D&Dv6.

Flaig

V14 and D&D 6 brought a lot of options and convenience. All the troubleshooting for saving 1 or 2 clicks with MIDI isn't worth the waiting and sticking to old versions for me. Beeing stuck mid campaign is a thing. I wouldn't change the version then too, but I wouldn't expect new features to be developed for old versions too, because in the long run it hurts the development of new content, and when I would finally switch I would prefer more things to be available.

David Casey

I switched to v14, but dam, when I did it was horribly disruptive, and I had to wait a long time before my preferred mods were available for it. My real question is: When did D&D v6 become available? First time I'm hearing that it's been released. I thought that was a 2027 thing...

Anomanderis

Cauldron of Plentiful Resources is what is keeping me from updating. The whole point of putting up with Foundry is the automation suite and for D&D that is CPR. Otherwise there are other VTTs that offer what Foundry does out-of-the-box. So without CPR being updated to V14, I cannot imagine myself upgrading.

Vaykor

I honestly stopped caring about CPR and started doing my own automations, however I am still waiting for MIDI to update to v6 which according to the devs of CPR will also mean that CPR will follow them soon..

Not happy that v14 doesn't use Regions as well as Wall Heights, and D&D v6 has issues still.

BossLoot

Foundry v14 does have Regions. Walls don’t have height settings, but v14 has native Levels integration, so you can still create walls on different levels.

Max

Sadly V14 not worth it for DM that truly focus on automation and functions. Without CPR i wont switch to v14 hopefully in a year v14 be great onto then see you later boss loot.
