Hi everyone,

Starting with our next release, BLFX Animation Editor will no longer receive new content for Foundry v13. All new Auto Rec entries, automations, and editor improvements will be made for Foundry v14 and D&D 5e v6.

We want to explain a little more about why we are making this change.

Both the Foundry and D&D teams have done a great job improving their systems, and we are excited to start taking advantage of those improvements.

We also want to go back and improve almost all the spells, monster abilities, and magic items we have already created. With the new automation tools in D&D v6, we can make them easier to use and reduce the amount of manual work needed during gameplay. This cannot be done maintaining compatibility with older version.

Another reason is that we do not want to fall too far behind on Foundry updates. The longer we wait, the harder it becomes to catch up.

We know that not everyone is ready to move to Foundry v14 yet, but we believe this is the best direction for BLFX in the long run.

What's changing with BLFX Assets?

With the next release, we are introducing BLFX Assets Pack 02.

Pack 01 is getting very close to Foundry's module size limit, so all new animated assets will go into Pack 02. This also means you will no longer need to update Pack 01 regularly.

The good news is that both asset packs will continue to work with Foundry v12 and newer versions. So even if you are not upgrading yet, you can still use these assets to create your own animations.

What about BLFX Animation Editor?

Starting with the next release, new BLFX Animation Editor updates and Auto Recognition content will only support Foundry v14 and D&D v6.

The latest version of BLFX Animation Editor compatible with Foundry v13 will remain available through a JSON installation link on our Patreon.

And Boss Loot Collection?

Boss Loot Collection will also move to Foundry v14 and D&D v6. We plan to improve our existing monsters, abilities, and magic items with the new automation tools, so more things can happen automatically during gameplay.

The latest version of Boss Loot Collection compatible with Foundry v13 will remain available through a JSON installation link on our Patreon.

Thanks everyone and see you soon! 😊

Thank you for waiting on the v13 users so long! You’ve picked a good time to switch. Many of us have been waiting for Cauldron of Plentiful Resources to be updated to v14, and they’ve now done all the spells and 80% of class features, so for me I’m starting to think that’s probably enough for me to switch over. They do have plenty of other things to re-automate, but I think I can live without those for a while

Just curious, CPR does not use predefine animations? I thought BLFX were not compatible with it in the way that CPR uses another animation assets.

I’m really not the expert… some of CPR’s automations come with in-built animations, but I think they can all be manually switched off. If you don’t switch them off (and potentially any other animation system) then you can get multiple animations playing. I try to change settings whenever I spot multiple animations playing so that it’s just my favourite (usually Boss Loot), but there are probably a couple where I just assumed the pre-set was more complicated than either of the animations playing!

Having now updated… I can see the new version of CPR they’ve made for v14 has a setting to turn off all of its own animations if it detects either Automated Animations or BLFX doing the same.
