Either y'all are bad at understanding people's emotions and motives behind actions, or y'all are just devoid of empathy. He wants to destroy all technology because in his mind technology is the enemy, technology killed his entire family. He doesn't know that there's a difference and that not all tech is bad. He also didn't know that the tech he destroyed was their only chance of survival. He's not in the loop. They spared him because he's not overtly a threat and because Kane understands that shit CAN'T be as rigid and black and white as "he did this thing we don't like he deserves to die". Humans are complex, situations are nuanced, and we can't pretend they aren't when it's everyone that's not us
