Good chat, especially covering the tedium of “controversial” decisions. I listened to the match on the radio returning down south from Ayr and interestingly the commentator (Barnes maybe) and two pundits (I think Dodds and Collins) all called a red card 10 mins before the first one. And for the penalty the statement was made that Dujon tried to stay on his feet but couldn’t and that was noticeable as being unusual these days! The rest of the season is bite sized chunks eh! Exciting stuff!

The biggest thing along with the intent that pisses me off is the question of a second yellow. Ffs a yellow card offence is a yellow card offence no matter if it’s the players first or second

Do you think Phil wants Souttar to have best chance to play in the Euros, which should help his progression, so is tending to play him over Balogun?

I love Europe but of the 3 that's the one I'd prefer going out of at this point this year. And tbh it seems like it would be beneficial but then again the players just keep marching on and come Thursday I will be desperate to go through as usual 😂

Great pod , the moonhowling online is reaching new levels you could be forgiven that there is a possible 3 old firms to be played in the next 6/7 weeks where no team especially the current trophy winning club is favorite

Rod

If we go through on Thursday we need to make sure Dundee doesn't become another Motherwell after focusing so much on the other 2 games.

Scott Henry

No way, if I absolutely had to sacrifice a leg of the Prodruple then it would be the Scottish Cup.

We have a great chance to win the Scottish Cup and if we are honest a slim chance in the europa

8luenose1872

For sure!! I would be angry if he was doing that but there is not a chance in hell he would give scotland a thought

We hear a lot of mention of this team and 55 - there are actually very few players left from that season. Most of this squad haven't been over course & distance.

Martin Boyd

I don’t think Yilmaz would have been the one to go if we had secured another left back. Like you boys I’m so tired of the pantomime around referees we all want consistency that’s all, even when the guy got decisions correct there is manufactured controversy. It’s boring. I was wondering where Martyn was, I thought maybe sleep deprivation had caught up with him , don’t worry only a few more years to go🤣

Thanks for the flagship pod David, Martyn & Ross. Lots of great well considered viewpoints, well delivered. The officiating is beyond repair. Yes there are genuine mistakes, different interpretations, etc but in our wee insular part of the planet there is bias, bred into the soul and unconscious bias bred into consciousness purely for self preservation - inTIMidation works! Ridvan has always been the player he is showing us now, finally getting a chance to show us. Silva is a modern forward player. Multi facetted, multi positional. Not really very many actual 'strikers' in the game anymore, even Mbappe and Kane aren't despite their goal return. Silva did well on loan in Belgium & Holland, fully confident he'll get even better here as he's showing more class with getting more gametime. The Portuguese consider him a big talent, potentially a generational talent. They develop a lot of superb players, key components in many of the most successful teams. Personally, I just love the way Fabio celebrates his team mates goals more than he does his own. Thursday will be what it'll be. Try our best. Progress would be amazing. Realistically & pragmatically this Round of 16 stage is about the limit of what the club is capable of given financial and player levels. But our manager doesn't believe in impossible - and I wouldn't argue with him 😆😉

Gary Brown

Absolutely, unequivocally correct Graham. Bookable offence is a bookable offence. 1st min or last min. I remember WC86 Uruguayan getting a red in 1st min vs Scotland.

Great pod guys. Just a quick comment on Fabio Silva. Agree he’s done really well off the left this week and he is linking up with Ridvan well. But I’d also say judging him as a striker with the wingers we have missing is hard. I think you’d see a really different Silva as a 9 of he had Cortes and Sima running in behind as opposed to McCausland and Sterling at times. Really hard for strikers to find rhythm when the number 10 and two wingers change every game. Same can apply to Dessers also.

I wish I could transfer David and Martyn's articulate and calculated brain into my own when trying to deal with the absurdity of some of the "I hate Rangers" rage that permeates scottish football and society. I find myself ready to incoherently rage back which I guess is what they are after. 😫

Heart and Hand

I just don’t care what they think. Rangers are all that matters, I find their hatred enervating. I don’t want them to like us 😀

Alastair McGeoch

Stupid people don’t know they’re stupid and that is absolutely the case with Michael Stewart. He seems to think he is some sort intellectual who sees the game from an enlightened perspective when in actual fact he is a biased cretin. Anyhoo, we are Rangers, super Rangers, no one likes us, we don’t care 😀
