“We weren’t warned about it - not Saturday evening, during the night. I hear now that people started to work on the pitch at five o’clock in the morning. So, in that way they did their best.

“But we were only told there was an issue because our kitman was at the stadium early, at around 9.15am. He warned us about the situation and for me that’s a really strange thing.

“This will be the only pitch in all the leagues in Scotland where a game was postponed. That tells me that it has nothing to do with the weather. Yes, it rained, but it rained all over Scotland and there were pitches in other lower leagues where they could play football.‘’

Bigticket

The anti-Celtic conspiracy continues 🤣

Alan Thomson

This is supposed to be top flight football, it’s embarrassing!!! No wonder we get such a shite deal from sky with tin pot clubs like Dundee!!!!

Paul Williamson

Jim White tried to argue with Simon Jordan and his comment about the Sunday pub league standard up here, O/F aside, things like this don’t help…

Iain Stirling

They probably tried to send another email

Ally Mair

Only pitch in Scotland that’s unplayable, I can’t wait for the day we actually win this league and get it round everyone of them

Garry kirkwood

Game probably wedged inbetween hibs n Celtic I guess 😂

Jon McNeill

I interpret the manager's comment as suggesting something akin to the St. Johnstone game the other week, that clubs are not looking after their pitch deliberately before Rangers (and Celtic in all likelihood) arrive, as a means of trying to neutralise our advantage. Consequently, it doesn't take much for the game to be called off due to how close the pitches are to being unplayable prior to rain.

Heart and Hand

Apparently it only rained heavily in Dundee Thursday night then this morning. Let’s face it, they left the pitch a shambles hoping to make it a shitty game then realised they had let it get too bad.

Jon McNeill

Agreed. That's it in a nutshell. Maybe a difficult thing to prove, but the truth.

Dougie

Am I right in thinking whoever’s top at the split plays at home in the last game of the season? IF that’s correct, I’m sure the powers that be will rearrange a new date ASAP under the banner of sporting integrity right? 🤔

George Higgins

Nothing will change until the governance at the top of Scottish football changes and proper rules are put in place to deal with situations like this. Clubs like Dundee must face sanctions for neglecting their pitch. Unfortunately Dundee and others didn’t take the opportunity to change things when we gave the chance.

David Clapperton

If only there was a pitch nearby that could be used.

Stuart McNiven

Wait and see the pile-on onto Big Phil. No employee of Rangers should have any opinion which in the teensiest way, expresses doubt or hints at incompetence over the running of our game. I'm sure they've written it into statute.

Latimer

Yes and it's obviously not been covered for that exact reason

Rona Bluebell

I’m seething on behalf of the fans who travelled, treated abysmally again. On the upside, I’d listen to a Carpod from Colin on a day out in Dundee sightseeing. Actually, maybe not 🤔

The problem I have with Dundee , is the obvious conflicted interest of Gordon strachan between his dual employers. We now need to prepare for the tims with less time than them , or ask to play the Dundee match the following week. This would protect them from the dreaded five pointer conundrum of losing at Ibrox. It may sound a tad conspicuous, between dundee and celtic, this has been a perfect storm. I’m glad Phil has spoken out about the deliberate lack of foresight engineered to prevent this game being played.

Tom

I like our manager, keep talking Phil.

Scott Tolmie

Tragic, Scottish football is a shambles, from plastic pitches to coo fields, better parks in the championship

John Palmer

Rangers should force an immediate replay but at Ibrox where the pitch is in perfect condition, oh wait, that's got too much sense attached to it. Never mind.

Graham Jones

It’s the fact that Dundee will get away with this that’s really embarrassing. They were at this when Souness was manager and they’re still at it. I guarantee if you cross the road to Tannadice it will be playable, that’s all I’m saying.

Russ

Clement probably can't believe some of the pitches he's seen since coming to Scotland. We have every right to complain btw because the turf at Ibrox is Premier League standard these days, the best in Scotland by a distance. At least we practice what we preach. Tinpot man.

Russ

Like, let's be honest, the park at Ibrox is probably the only one in Scotland that can take a deluge during or prior to a game and still be playable (Benfica on Thursday for example).

Douglas Innes

Let's not forget under Gerrard our pitch wasn't the best ..... in saying that that's 25% of dundees home games called off in SPFL

Douglas Innes

Not sure I've heard of that ?? Not saying it isn't so though , I think when the leagues been a procession the title winners get last home game

James Muir

CAN THE GAME NOT BE RESCHEDULED FOR TUESDAY OR WEDNESDAY NIGHT?

Douglas Innes

Livingston but that's not the point , Dundee are being run on a shoestring and they want to move to a new stadium ( highly doubtful as where is the money coming from ) Ibrox has a groundstaff of 7 I'm guessing Dundee have 1 full time 1 part time and a few that help on matchdays , my mate is an ex SPFL assistant groundsman not all pitches get the money spent on them like Ibrox
