We talked a lot and didn't get through many listeners voices so we recorded a second part that will be with you next week.

Andrew

First song I played was Toy Town in my Fiat Punto and was on a tape 😁

Simon

Feeling left out for not submitting, obviously missed the memo. So here are my 3 current favourite bands (and albums). I know you don't care. Godspeed You Black Emperor (F♯ A♯ ∞) Pye Corner Audio (Sleep Games) Sault (Untitled (Black Is))

Graham McCallum

Oh well Colin at this rate you will get at least a years worth of content

Mark wood

Was listening to the cropod on my way to work and I hear Andy wears woman's tights to the football, wild

Fraser Ritchie

Whatever riff was a based on how sweet to be an idiot I’m sure

Jordan McKay

I didn’t expect David to hate Queen. They’re the most overrated band of all time

Jack Shaw

I love them. They are fucked up though. Have you read the stuff their adopted son has spoke about recently? The wee guy in a lot of their videos?

Colin

Robert miles - children, runaway intro by Kanye and Carl Douglas - kung fu fighting.

stevan castrissios

A good few artists/bands mentioned by the listeners. The The, Tom Waits, Liz Frazer being a beautiful singer, The Cure and others. I’m a snob. Tongue in cheek, a lot of it, Eastenders, Crossroads and Emmerdale. Rather than Dallas, Dynasty and The Bold and the Beautiful. We all love music. Great Listen.

Gary Staff

I remember buying Anthrax “Among The Living” out of Woolworths in Shawlands Fucking strange place to find an Anthrax album😀

Leslie Hibbert

Oasis are so intertwined to my own life that I can't say they're not my favourite band. The inspiration they gave me was life changing. I know they're metrically not better than the Beatles or whoever else, but they/Noel have had the biggest impact and influence on my life outside of Rangers. That does not mean music starts and ends at Oasis, for me anyway, just they're the most significant in my life.

Rona Bluebell

I’m amazed any man talking about bands or vinyl has ever had a date let alone secured a marriage.

Heart and Hand

Total myth. In my experience women absolutely love when you play them the perfect song. Well, the cool ones anyway 😀

Heart and Hand

My current wife for example is incredibly cool - loves Nick Cave, The Jam, Joy Division, the Mary Chain etc.

Paul Black

Would recommend Ren for a listen, kind of suits the discussion. Some of his stuff is very powerful as it is brilliant. Very hip hop orientated with his other music. Been a couple of threads on FF about him.

Rona Bluebell

Oh I’d listen to your wife. She sounds amazing. Just men droning on about their music tastes and how this piece is taken from this album blah blah is just awful. Strumming a guitar at you is even worse.

Seumais Simpson

"put it in yer mooth Margaret" need to do a Limmy episode.

Graeme Dempster

Oasis would have been much better if they had a decent drummer!

Alan Ryder

I've always thought I was alone in hating Queen. Fucking despise them. See that shite about riding a bicycle. Fucking awful

Alan Ryder

Memories of buying an album after having liked one song! Youngsters don’t know they’re born! Lol

Heart and Hand

The excitement of waiting till the album was released, getting it home, single was the first track then…the crushing disappointment as the rest of it was rubbish 😂

Iain Shaw

Same for me. David, give us a few of your "if you like Oasis, listen to this" suggestions. I hesitated to include them on my three because there are bands I like and know are better musicians and songwriters, but I'd be lying if they weren't in my list. I think for a lot of us who were teenagers in the 90s, the first two Oasis albums (and the singles and B-sides) had the same kind of impact as some of the goals of that era - Hateley in the 1991 title decider or Super Ally in the 1992 Scottish Cup semi - they're just stamped on you forever.

Heart and Hand

Other bands to check out - Bright Eyes, The Hold Steady, Big Star, the Byrds, Mercury Rev, Wilco, The Beat, Cold War Kids. List is endless!

Forsyth Henderson

See back in the 70's, when Queen first came out, they were basically called 'poofs'. (Little did we know!). Not heavy metal, just poncing about.

Forsyth Henderson

Current favourite (for nostalgic reasons and also for the Bangkok connection) is Car Jamming, by the Clash. Please listen, while reading the lyrics, if you don't know it kids.

Heart and Hand

Modest Mouse, Auteurs, Whiskeytown, Television, Spacemen 3, Okkervil River, House of Love, Replacements, Cribs, Richard Thompson, Velvets, Teenage Fanclub, Bottle Rockets.

Leslie Hibbert

Not every band listed I've heard of there, but I've heard at least 1 song I like from 2/3 of them. Upon discovery , I would go to see if they have more that grabs me, and generally they don't, the odd occasion there's a new found love. The update has given me lots of songs to check out that I've ended up loving, and remember being delighted at Martha getting picked one day after being a fan for years. The glory of Spotify discovery! What I do find as well though, is that sometimes I will like a bands lesser known song, go their most played on Spotify and just not like any of it. Example being the Front Bottoms. Heard the song Summer Shandy and couldn't stop listening. Checked the rest, barely even average, almost annoying...

Heart and Hand

Martha are great. So funny! Front Bottoms I saw at a festival in 2014 and thought they were very promising but ten years later only really a couple good songs. Unfulfilled promise!

Leslie Hibbert

Radiator Hospital? I don't want to ask David Edgar "have you heard this band?"... Their song Blue Gown...I can only describe as ethereal. I don't know why I love it, but it's just incredible, to me Indulgent of me, but I made this playlist yesterday of songs that make me feel...I don't know, as if memories from a different life. "Movies of my dreams" is definitely close to what I can't articulate... https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5kUP6uzZ308p3sm6p6VnHp?si=K6yVRscARkmhLkQ2WM4jhQ&pi=e-_XixKco8TraW

Stephen

Agree about St Anger by Metallica being a terrible album. I actually think the third Oasis is my favourite one. It’s not the best one but for some reason it’s the one I listen to the most.

Stephen

Yeah. Lars said at the time that everyone will be doing that in 20 years. Thankfully no one did. The documentary Some Kind of Monster about the making of the album is amazing though.

Steven L

Lasgos most popular song was something

Andy McGowan

Did Chas & Dave get a mention on this show?

Hendi

Oasis my favourite band of all time. If you're no a total music wank then they give you what you're after. It's equivalent to being a casual boxing fan who loves watching aggression and KOs from Mike Tyson etc and doesn't have the depth of understanding to appreciate the technical brilliance of people like Mayweather, Bernard Hopkins or Pernell Whittaker and finding them boring to watch. First non Rangers podcast I've ever listened to of H&H BTW and it was decent 😃

Samuel Campbell

I missed the call for comments for this episode but maybe for the best although I don't think mine are that bad but here they are anyway Ash Pixies Brand New Friend Was almost going to put Foo Fighters 3rd as Everlong is my favourite song of all time but since their 3rd album they have been quite patchy

Brian Fisher

A great quote from the OG heart and hand was " anyone who listens to Bell and Sebastian has never came on a bird's face"

Jack Shaw

We covered about two listeners’ suggestions. But, no is the short answer.

Neil Wilson

Always respected Metallica due to that documentary. That documentary did not make James and Lars look good and they still released it. I saw the premiere at Edinburgh Film Festival that year with the director. Very interesting. St. Anger was Metallica's attempt at nu metal.

Lynsey Roddy

Paramore are over here in the summer as they’re the support for Taylor Swift. I’m currently listening to The Black Crowes, Zach Bryan & Chris Stapleton, who I’m seeing live in October & cannot wait. I’m a sucker for a slide guitar!

Craig Guthrie

Be genuinely interested to hear David’s alternatives to Oasis

Ross Guild

Foo Fighters Rival Sons Feeder

Pedro

Really enjoyed this as always guys. Can't believe Andy didn't show 😕 Technically a greatest hits isn't an album 😉 David's description of Queen could have been used to describe Blur 😂
