The Boss is back with Jack and Colin to discuss, rate, praise and annihilate your favourite music.

We talked a lot last week and didn't get through many listeners voices so we recorded a second part covering a lot more of you. Enjoy!

Dean Anderson

I've never actually listened to this show although like the idiot that I am, It just clicked after listening to Wrong Term Memory last night that your the same Jack. It all makes sense now. Will listen to this tonight!

Andrew

Send in us in the music / artist you like while David roasts you part 2 😁😆

John McMillan

😂 brilliant, two minutes in and you got me a kick in the balls. I wasn't the one you gave dating advice to. Just trying to explain that to my missus who heard that comment.

Stephen

Agree about Belle and Sebastian. First album is decent though. Twee is a perfect description for them. The sort of people who ride a bike with a basket on the front of it.

Graham McCallum

Good laugh as usual fellas. Was a bit sad though that we didn’t get David’s view on one of my choices Devo. Keep up the great work fellas my Friday morning RBR sets me up for the weekend

Seumais Simpson

Story about Nick Cave. My mum went to get an album signed in Glasgow in the early 90s and took me along. I would have been around 2/3. Got to the front of the queue and I was being a typical little shit toddler stressing my mum out. Nick Cave started chatting to me to give my mum some peace and let me scribble all over his albums. Seen them a few times including that year at TITP and also Grinderman at Hydro Connect. Brilliant guy.

KMS

And in that basket is a picnic they bought out a Deli on Byers road with 12 different cheeses in it!!

KMS

Talking of disappointing gigs, I remember going to two gigs, first one was Van Morrison & Bob Dylan, I wasn't fussed about Dylan I was there to see VM and he was on 1st, long story short he was shit, unengaging and just mumbling and meandering through his set, I was so pissed off that I was ready to walk out, decided to stay and watch Dylan and he was absolutely outstanding!!, totally blew me away. The other one was The The who I had been waiting yeeeeeaaaars to finally see, this was on the naked self tour, the sound was awful that night, the engineer clearly had no idea what the concept of bass was, it just sounded so harsh and empty, then some arsehole launched a pint of beer at Matt Johnson and it absolute soaked him, he was a recovering alcoholic and had just passed a milestone in his revovery, and here he was dripping in his nemesis, to say he was fucking raging is an understatement, the whole atmosphere of the gig just descended further after that. Why go to a gig and launch something like that at the very person you paid to see? Will never understand these pricks

Lewis Wardrope

I seen Paul Weller at TITP. He came out and played a new album that he’d released a few days earlier from start to finish, then walked off. No Jam songs, no Style Council songs. I was fucking raging😂

Jordan McKay

I’m amazed that I didn’t get roasted to be honest. Sleep Token has a very acquired taste.

John Smith

This is a show idea that might sound a bit mental. Serial killer rankings. If anyone can understand this it’s you guys

Graham McCallum

I finally got the chance to see them in London last year after about 40 years of thinking I never would. They were absolutely incredible live 😊

Moody Marco

I would class “twee” in this sense as contrived or deliberately stereotypical. And maybe also a bit “safe”

Seumais Simpson

Yeah definitely. Artistically he is a titan, but having to deal with the death of two children is unimaginable. On a slightly more petty level, the absolute frothing from some circles about his attendance to the King's coronation was enjoyable.

Jack Shaw

I’m sure we’ve done something like that. Dahmer is my number one. We might revisit 👍🏼

John Smith

Of course you have. I like Dahmer but I’ve got a lot of love for Ed Kemper

Gary Staff

“Writing frightening verse to a Bucktoothed girl from Luxembourg “ That’s one of the best lines ever written. Morrisey is up there as one of the best lyricists of all time.

Heart and Hand

I identified strongly with that. I get it a fair bit when I’m not absolutely irate about some minor Rangers news. ‘Oh you’d have been raging about this when you were younger’. Well yes, but since then I’ve been through addiction, divorce, bereavement, health problems and it changes your perspective a bit 😂

Seumais Simpson

Exactly. Sometimes folk just need to take a breather and realise some things are not worth getting so raging about 🤣

Douglas Innes

Was going to message last week on the Queen reference and novelty records and was going to actually reference David Bowies " The Laughing Gnome " as a 6/7 yr old in 1973 I loved it ( due to older brothers 16 & 17 ) and is described as such " novelty record " ..... I'd actually looked it up and didn't realise it was originally released in 1967

Graeme Price

Got my Russ Abbott mention in so am happy. No seriously though I think there should be more music content on here especially if it can be linked to Rangers. Has a show about Tina Turner been done ending in the show that made her famous song sung by the Famous fans?

Graeme Price

Twee is the ancestor of Normcore which has unfortunately ended all cores I believe.

Corpse Reviver

Im pleased you guys discussed THE CORPSE'S choices. FYI. New Swans album was released 2023. There was also a 2019 release. Michael Gira is the brains behind Swans. It can be dark, but it is wholly rewarding. Show Me The Body - listen to songs "Camp Orchestra" and "we came to play". One of the most progressive acts in music. The work the band does through the CORPUS label is incredible. A true New York hardcore band for the modern day, with the most diverse fan base out there. Enjoy

Niall MacKay

Thanks for reading out mine and good to hear your thoughts. Ryan Adams was half cancelled but still out playing his tunes and releasing far too many albums to keep up with. I just find his songwriting incredible for a guy that releases so many records. Here is Nick Cave's thoughts on separating the artist from the art, specifically around Morrissey. He answers a lot of fans questions: https://www.theredhandfiles.com/views-on-morrissey/

Gary Mackie

‘I can name 50 better rappers’ ‘Eminem just says things for the shock factor’ From Kanye West’s biggest fan 😂

DAVID PARK

The Hootie singer is now a big country star, not very interesting I know :) , saw him a few years ago in Glasgow, and he was great

Gary Brown

Enjoyed these 2 music shows lads. Really interesting to hear your views Never submitted my 3 favourites as they change constantly.

Jock Paterson

Strokes in the Barras that night I think the support were (French?) duo who got drenched in pish/beer and booed off. Julian strolled on the stage and said “ tough crowd, huh?” And laughed. And played a storming set 😎

Gregor McNeish

I think REM is a nostalgia thing, although I love them. It’s a bit like the Smashing Pumpkins their first two albums are in my top 10 (maybe 20) but everything else no thanks.

DAVID PARK

Nope, not sure who you are thinking of. He is black though, which makes him unusual in the country scene.

Jack

Sometimes I understand the changing of the speed etc when live if it’s an older performer and it helps the performance, I mean for example Liam Gallagher now ( I know David I know ) has to do it or he sounds like Kermit the frog with a sore throat for some of the old oasis hits 🤣

Gary Staff

REM was never aband I loved but I did like them. I remember listening to Automatic For the People when it first came out and thinking it was good, if a little depressing. Now I can’t stop listening to it, I think it’s up there with some of my favourite albums. For some reason right now I’m comparing it to Northern Soul by the Verve. A bleak if strangely uplifting album. Anyway I’m six cans deep and dancing in the kitchen😀

Grace Graham

Great show as usual boys. A special thanks to Colin for giving me a shout out on yesterday’s Daily Update, it was much appreciated.

Stephen

Added respect for Jack with his Pantera story. The story is even more bizarre, since the guy who shot Dimebag was rumored to be angry that the band was breaking up due to conflict between Phil Anselmo and Dime, based on an interview Phil gave.
