Thanks again David ,statue for Walter great 👏

Neil Wilson

Alice Cooper in Glam Metal mode. Hey Stoopid was after this album??

Neil Wilson

Yeah. Hey Stoopid had Hey Stoopid obviously and Feed My Frankenstein with Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Nikki Sixx and Elvira. Blast from the past.

Ally Auld

Still seems a bit surreal at times that Walter is no longer with us 😞

David Campbell

Still get emotional when I hear anyone talk about Walter or when I think about the times under him. Mr Rangers he is missed. 💙

David Baillie

I fully support the Walter statue it will be a great addition to the stadium and a well deserved tribute. I would also like to see the club have some sort of recognition for Scot Symon. He has a similar if not better record (2 European finals) than Walter. With the benefit of hindsight it’s clear that Mr Symon was treated abominably by the people who ran the club at that time. I’m sure Walter would have looked up to him and aspired to adopt his traditional Rangers values. Two giants of our club. One revered, one shunned.

Davy when you start talking about Walter I honestly can feel the lump coming You know the silly thing I never met Walter but I really miss him as this spirit and father figure like our club would always be ok as long as we had Walter a phone call away for some advice or support or just to see him at games with his family He was like you day Davy the very best of us and everything we aspire to be as a football family 👞👞

KennyY

Scotlands VAR panel once again highlighting wrong decisions made against us. This season we have the most wrong decisions of any SPFL club with 5.

Re Walter's statue, what's the club playing at? Planning permission next month? Over a month ago, I stood at the site designated for the statue. The area was nicely paved with a circle in the centre, covered over - presumably where the statue will be. Should the club not have got planning permit first? Ditto the Sports Bar. Bisgrove said the designs are done, look great, it will open this summer BUT they're awaiting planning permission! Surely that's the first thing you should do - in both cases? Who's responsible for this shambles? Not impressed.

Russ

'Preparations are under way to expand and redevelop ibrox' is what I wanted to hear. This board need to bite the bullet on that, if we've got a 10k waiting list then why wait? Cheers for the update.

Hits a nerve when we speak about Walter I am 42 in October this year and so much of the best of my supporting life Walter was part of it all From champions league on stv 92/93 at 10 years old ( that adidas strip ) him in the rugby style sweatshirts To getting dragged onto a bus after being absolutely obliterated with the drink the night before to go down to Kilmarnock to win the title He just was us God a miss this man , and I miss us being that Rangers , the winning Rangers that went to war for the club

Loved your words on Walter David, heard so many eulogies on Walter and all very good but that represented all of us and how we feel very well. Thank you.

Money, basically. We can play around at the fringes with adding limited numbers but for a proper 10-20k expansion we’re talking 10s of millions.

Russ

Surely the extra 10k ST will pay off a 50m loan within a decade though? It probably isn't as simple as securing funding against a waiting list, granted, but if the guarantee is there then funding should be plausible? Or am I being too dense?

Gregg

You are basically borrowing against future season ticket sales - which is what Craig whyte did with ticketus. You’d also have the cost of moving for a year and the revenue hit that you’d incur. Add in there wouldn’t really be a guarantee - unless some benefactor was willing to stand behind it - or the people on the waiting list signed up for 10 years in advance. It’s a huge undertaking.

Heart and Hand

Add in the interest payments, FFP, how it would affect the club’s financial security - it’s a non-starter.

Russ

Aaahh okay, cheers for the exposition. Is there any plausible way we fund an expansion?

Heart and Hand

Hmm. Short of raising it from fans or benefactors ourselves (very unlikely in current economy), I don’t think so. The issue with a loan is you are taking on enormous long-term risk for something that isn’t likely to generate a profit for a long time. And while the waiting list is there now doesn’t mean it always will be. Look at Covid, economic recession etc. So given the reward to risk, unless someone basically gives us a fortune at zero interest and isn’t interested in when they get it back, it won’t happen.

Heart and Hand

No way I can see, I should say. Some genius financier might come along and work out a way, stranger things have happened!

Colin Campbell

What’s David’s email address troops ?

Tommy

This is more a response re other pods on youth development, but I feel we’ve failed Leon King this year. He was exposed maybe a little early to a lot of football but it’ll have been great for his development. This year - nothing We’ve wasted a critical year for him (and McKinnon and Rice). We need to get smarter with loans. There’s a lot of clubs at SPL level and maybe English league 1 level struggling financially, getting these guys out the door and giving them game time (even if we fully pay the wages) should be the priority.

Gary Brown

Thanks for the update David. Lovely tribute to Walter. Never a truer word spoken, well said sir. The stadium footprint walkways should be identified on the three sides behind the stands. Instead of "behind the Copland" it should be Walter Way. With two other 'streets' named behind the Govan/SJ and Broomloan eg Struth Street, Ally Avenue, etc Plenty of scope for fan engagement in naming polls, buy a brick etc. Let's face it the footprint isn't pretty. Aye, I know, plenty other things to spend money on but what is there now does not exemplify the level of class our club should have. Oh BTW. Lammers? Me! I wanted to keep him. And I'd take him back. Know that's a non starter but given more time he would've shown his worth like Dessers has. People only concentrating on the wrongs he was doing and not seeing the rights.

Rose Mcloughlin

I love Jack Butland and am so glad he wants to stay with us....cant wait to see Walters Statue I was privileged to work in the players lounge and was there when he was made our Manager..he was so proud but very very humble even winning season after season he was still quiet...so can see his smile when the statue is uncovered and thinking we are all bonkers...but he so deserves it..his players would have played through fire for him...cant wait to see it.

John Palmer

We could've saved money and continued to develop him and not bothered with Souttar

David Kiltie

Some of the comments from Yahoos on X about this beggar belief. The findings show that Rangers have had the rough end of bad VAR calls yet they claim that it proves a refereeing conspiracy in our favour!
