Is there a list of players with one year left?

Richard McLuckie

Time for them to go but I'll just say thanks for being here & helping us to finals & trophies (sadly not enough of either)

Declan Cairns

Needed to happen for a lot of these players. Sad to see a few of their careers with us end the way it did. But can’t be carrying anymore passengers

Craig

Long overdue but got emotional watching all the videos. All five players involved in some of my happiest moments in football.

Craig

Also I guess this confirms Balogun has signed again.

Andrew Whiteside

Good players that had some great spells and part of amazing moments. All the best to them.

Neil Wilson

Thanks for your service. Time for us to move on to a new chapter with a younger, more athletic core of players.

Ronald Fraser

Probably about £5m in wages freed up

KennyY

Any idea what the wage budget saving from that group is

Ross Hauser

Not quite, they're probably waiting to see if they can get their targets first.

Angus Mackay

Some of these guys gave us some of our best memories in football, it’s just a shame that mismanagement kept them here too long. Jack and especially Roofe ruined by injury. Most of them I say a fairly fond goodbye to, but it’ll take me a long time to forget Lundstram’s shameful fall off this season when it became clear the club couldn’t meet his wage demands. The guy seems like a fraud who probably played up to his level in 15-20% of his games for us. Good riddance to him.

Brian Rae

A sigh of relief as I had fears that "Lunny" would somehow get a new deal. He did score one of my favourite ever goals in Europe (v Dortmund) and was responsible for one of the best ever moments as a supporter but... You can't turn it on for 4 months of a 3 year deal and being honest, I just never took to him after his Malmö performance, rightly or wrongly. BB, IMO was judged very harshly due to two horror shows at the piggery but overall, the positives heavily outnumbered the negatives. Ryan Jack could easily have stayed on had it not been for his injuries, likewise Roofe, who literally paid for himself and then some with that winner against Betis and scored the winner to get us into the league cup final, so I'll not be having that he was a waste of a wage as he also contributed massively during 55. They have all played a big part at times and go with my best wishes. Now we must recruit better.

Andrew Hind

Had some great moments but time to move forward, all the best for the future

Alex M

That's a fair chunk of the wage bill freed up, especially in roofes case. Let's hope we get more value from it

Ranger1972

Fair points all round mate. Has given me a different outlook on Roofe in particular here. What could have been eh.

Gary Shaw

Not sad at any of them leaving to be honest….these video highlights always make players seem better than they were…..Borna was a bottle merchant that had a decent 6 months in 6yrs,Lundstram had a good 3 months in 3 full seasons,Jack who I do think is a proper footballer but has just been absolutely ruined by injury then you have the myth that is Kemar Roofe,14 league goals in the title winning season with 4 of those coming after we skooshed the league and played under half the time he was here….good riddance to them all with a slight knot in my stomach over Jack 😂

Gary Shaw

My worry is that the players that have been freed weren’t even the core and apart from Lundstram, didn’t or weren’t guaranteed to play anyway….still loads of work to be done regarding getting rid of more deadwood

Doug

One moment worth remembering is McLaughlin’s classy decision to ask that Alan McGregor be subbed on in the final minute of the Scottish Cup Final. At the time it seemed that’d be his last season. With his last game having been the Europa League Final, McLaughlin gave up a moment for himself to let an Ibrox legend play in and win his first Scottish Cup and bow out as we’d always known him, a winner.

Stuart Sheils

McLaughlin won the league too did he not?! Amateur from the club again… BB was (bar butland) our best player 1st half of this season which seems to have been forgotten in the rush to get rid of him. 100% times up but he’s judged very harshly over his time here… Much like how people still haven’t forgiven Tav for a cup final 8 years ago…

Shevy Kapoor

They all need moved on. Few quid and wages invested in better players.

Brian Rae

Hopefully, we can find the next Roofe that's not hampered with constant injuries.

Craigieboy 1872

I'll always remember Ryan's goal at Ibrox against.... Them..... WATP.. hopefully we can build a team that makes us ALL say that...

David adams

Some great memories with a few of these players but definitely time to move on.

Rona Bluebell

As Barbie would say, bub bye 👋

Michael

All the best to all WATP

Rob Whiteford

Glad lundstram is going, good luck to them all. Ryan Jack was a personal favourite

George Higgins

Good luck to them all. They played for Rangers. Now we move on to a new future. Puts to bed the ill informed rumours that were circulating about some getting new contracts.

Maca82

I’m generally a moany bastard but all go with my best wishes. Lundstram scoring in the Europa league semi at Ibrox was the best moment I’ve had in sport with my ten year old lad. For that I will remember him fondly even if it ended more in tune with how he spent his time with us 🤦‍♂️ lots of wages freed up do things 🤣

Russ

Cheers lads and good luck. It's the right thing to do albeit 1/2 seasons too late. Hopefully we can kick on from here!

Stephen

Harsh on Roofe. His winners against Betis and Braga were huge financially for us. I am sure he didn’t want to be injured as much as he was. Not sure why Ryan Jack gets a pass when he had the exact same issues. Certainly time for them to all move on though.

John Smith

McLaughlin- never really got a fair shake in my view Roofe- that goal makes him a hall of famer for me Jack- an absolute legend who I’d love to see back in some form Barasic- never delivered on his full potential but what a song Lundstram- let’s try and just remember Leipzig

Paul Kerr

If they average 15k a wk in wages (probably more) that's £4m off the wage bill. If that's reinvested you'd expect a much better return on your money than what we got this past 2 yrs imo.

Gregg

Good luck to all of them - hope Roofe and jack somehow manage to get an Indian summer.

Graham Jones

Some of them were on really good money, especially Lundstrum because he came in on a Bosman. We’d keep Jack and Rolfe all day if they weren’t constantly injured. The real problem is replacing them with better quality, because that’s what we have to do. Don’t be surprised if our biggest asset goes to fund the rebuild, and range manager won’t like that. What gets me is that the club should’ve seen this coming and prepared for it. There needs to be a round of fresh investment in the club.the board have done it in the past under King, and they need to look at doing so again before the summer is over.

David Baillie

We should sell them Andrew but who is going to pay them the wages they will be on at Ibrox?

Billy Forrester

They all go with my very best wishes, no player sets out to let this club down. John Lundstrum gave me greatest night of my life at Ibrox v Leipzig. Lot to be thankful for 💙🇬🇧

David Innes

Correct decision on all 5 for the club and the players. Good luck to them all

stephen

Good luck to every player leaving and thank you.

Rod

Why is Ryan Jack an absolute legend exactly? No harm to the guy but he's nowhere near that level IMO.

Martin Sutherland

All contributed to some success in some way, shape or form. Sad to see Jack go as without the injuries he would have likely stayed with us until retirement. Good footballer

Gary Shaw

Didn’t give Jack a pass as I said good riddance to them all but Jack was a proper footballer when available….Roofe barely had a good, standout game in a Rangers jersey….Colak scored a financially huge goal against PSV but it doesn’t make him any less of a dumpling of a footballer….Isolating 2 separate goals doesn’t make him a good player I’m afraid

David Kiltie

This meant McGregor was restored as no 1 early in the 2022/23 season, and we witnessed an “off a cliff” decline as age caught up with him. I think this season past we have seen Jack’s absence has brought home his value to the team. For instance in the Ross County game we could have done with Jack’s presence to shore up the midfield. Apropos Roofe, the line is “if only we could have kept him fit”. In reality a player of his ability who was also robust physically would be way out of our price range. Barisic’s Ibrox career fits the rollercoaster cliche perfectly. To be fair we have spent far higher amounts on players who delivered far less, but time to move on now. There were whispers a few months ago of Lundstram being offered a new contract. The player at this stage of his career is rightly going to be looking for the maximum possible in terms of wages and length of contract so the distance between what one side wanted and the other side could offer would be way too wide, so time to move on.

David Kiltie

I don’t know if McLaughlin played enough matches to qualify for a winner’s medal 🤷🏼‍♂️
