Hoggy is back from coaching in the South of France, with sorry tales of mosquito bites, infected legs and hospital visits......

So we thought we'd poke fun and look at avoidable, yet mad injuries from the world of football; look back at the season now the dust has settled and look forward to the transfer silly season; and of course, give a nod to the Euros.

If you want to come on the Hamper, especially over the summer, email hoggy@heartandhand.co.uk

Injury stories not for the squeamish on a Saturday morning!

That Euro 92 stat is pretty amazing Hoggy Given only an 8 team tournament and 20 man squads that means 11.25% of the entire tournament played for Rangers

Bobby volted a 3 foot wall with a 12 foot drop the otheside 🤦

David Baillie

I seem to remember Ronald de Boer having a lengthy spell out with a knee injury having kicked out in frustration at an advertising hoarding. Possibly at Tannadice?

Hope you’re feeling better soon Hoggy! Had a stupid injury of my own last month. I have weak ankles and suffer from tendonitis periodically (cry me a river). I’m a teacher but part of my role is training other teachers. So I’m there observing a PE lesson, taking notes and not looking where I’m going… which is into the world smallest divot (like it wouldn’t cause a puddle) causing me to roll my ankle. Not one student got injured in that lesson, but my ankle blew up and I couldn’t walk for a week as it triggered my ankle issues. Not my finest moment!

Talking about youths,And young players,I know for a fact there’s players that are signed pro youth not to do with talent but to do with mum and dad’s input with the club,The jobs they have and how much money they have,Young boys that are there and you can tell there not good enough,That’s the truth,I’ve witnessed it myself,

Re. injuries, Mickey Thomas (Wales, Man Utd, Brighton, Stoke, Wrexham) was stabbed in the arse with a screwdriver, allegedly by the husband of the woman he was pleasuring at the time, on the back seat of his car outside a pub.

Hope you're feeling better hoggy? Listening you talking about the profile of the player we should be targeting & I think it's essential we target the best young Scottish players. That will of course mean we pay over the odds for them, not sure there's a rangers tax but certainly a domestic tax but I think it's vital we retain that Scottish identity in the squad and also for our ongoing European escapades and that domestic allowance

Willie Henderson missed most of 1964/65 through a bunion of all things. And then there was Marco Negri's injury playing squash (I think?).
