For the money Goldson was a brilliant buy, I wish him all the best. Time to find his replacement and it won’t be easy.

Martin Boyd

Nice from Goldson a good servant overall. No doubt the angry wee Men of social media will be still calling him stupid names I don’t have David’s confidence in Rangers fans.

John leitch

We got our moneys worth out of Goldson Time was up however Players playing 50/60 games a season over a group of seasons has a knock on effect We need to space our selections Goldson will be difficult to replace as will Tav

Heart and Hand

I think on social media there’s a subset of people who feel they prove their staunchness by how vitriolic they can be. Best ignored.

Charlie Nicolson

I honestly thought there would be a signing "squirrel" announced half an hour before the JB statement was released.

Jim McCutcheon

Good player Connor for the club wish him well for the remainder of his career and thank him , cheers David

Brian Rae

Connor Goldson goes with my best wishes and he has shown great professionalism and attitude. I agree that his time was up and arguably, he shouldn't have been re signed 2 years ago. It's some laugh that A 36 yr old Balogun is now our best CB when 5 years ago we had a peak Goldson and Helander and have never improved on either of them. IMO It shows how bad our recruitment has been in this time. Good luck Connor.

John Smith

🍻 Big Connor. One of the heroes of 55. That makes him a legend in my eyes

Ryan Stewart

Always liked Goldson. First 4 seasons he was excellent and an absolute Ironman in terms of availability barely missing a game. Injury against Liverpool definitely set him back and I’m not sure he’s ever really recovered from it. Right time to move on but similar to Tavernier he has become a lighting rod for fans criticism, some deserved but most that should be directed towards the decision makers above them who have failed so badly post 55, not individual players

Iaian

Such a classic tune mate.

Angus Mackay

Spot on assessment of Bennett’s interview, Davie. I thought the most important point he made was that the rebuild is much bigger than Clement thought it was from the outside looking in. I suspect when the team threw in the spring he realised that the game was a bogey as far that group was concerned. All the best to big Connor, a very commendable servant to the club.

Jamie

Thank god the David and Todd’s shows is on tonight something to cheer me up . Currently lying in hospital bed not doing good so this will put a smile on my face .

John leitch

Good analogy time on the clock We can’t expect players to play 50/60 games a season for 3/4 seasons Rotation

Ryan Stewart

Was rushed back by Beale for the Aberdeen game about a month before he was due back. Pretty sure he picked up another injury at the end of that season which led to him missing some of last pre season and he never seemed to recover

John leitch

Transfer speculation shows the reality of our situation English clubs can pay millions for 16 year olds on good wages Utd signed a young defender recently who played against us recently for a lot of money and was injured in the last few days There are no certainties in football

David adams

Been a great servant and I wish him all the best .

Iaian

Goldson was a great servant. Wish him well. It’s concerning that I feel we still need a spine to our team. We need a leader at the back. We need a number 6. We need another 10, if he insists on playing 1 and cantwell is gone. We could do with another striker. But that probably depends on Dessers leaving. Cause I can’t see us putting a 4th on the books. To be honest. It might not be the most glamorous. But if it could be done without going down the road of crazy money contracts and after moving on Cantwell and Dessers. Would McKenna, McLean, Lennon Miller and Shankland provide the spine we are looking for? And does going Scottish start to give us a semblance of identity back? Feel like we don’t have one at all now.

Angus Mackay

Yeah, that’s what I did when I got locked out for the third time. Never give it a thought now.

Graham Roy

Give it a couple of years and then they will be calling him a legend if he comes out and slags Celtic!

Derek Robertson

Goldson is our best centre half, if people think that Goldson and Tav were the problems over the last couple of years then they are miles out

Stephen

I fear we are a fanbase who are starting to judge everything by what happened in the 90’s. Bit like the Aberdeen fans who still think it’s the 80’s. It’s sad to see us becoming like them.

Elaine Campbell

The new reminder function of a new Murty episode about to drop? Is that to allow us time to put some suitable trauma counselling in place before we listen? 😂😇

William Hughes

You only see what Goldson brought to our defense when he's not there. He marshaled at the back. Big boots to fill.

Robert White

Great message from Connor, all the best to him. Right time for both parties, time to find the new Connor.

Spoon

Classy exit from Goldson, not as big a fan of him as others are but wouldn’t deny he has been a solid reliable defender for most of his time here. Too many guys overhyped from being decent to a level beyond but have to give the big guy credit for his fitness, availability and resilience. Had my say on the interview which was exactly what I would expect the guy to say. Where I totallly agree David is in terms of expectations, the fans (in my own humble opinion) are unrealistic about where we are as a business, where we sit in the food chain and where we can realistically get to as our ‘peak level’. Is I don’t blame the majority as the club mantra for years has been about getting back so they are the ones driving this but it would be refreshing to be treated like adults by them with realism in terms of squad, signings and budgets etc as the reality is we are never going to be the force in football we once were unless something changes on a biblical scale. I personally could live with structure, stability and a real drive to develop talent and youth here even if it meant every year wasn’t a treble but I get others think differently. You only have to look at where we are on and off the field however to get a bit of sobering reality as to where we really sit in football, our appeal to potential signings or our ability to use the market. Problem is the board think they need to trade on making Rangers great again or the interest dwindles, I personally would welcome the truth.

Andrew Hind

Bennett's interview sounding like we could be away from Ibrox for a long time

Hendi

Agree it was best for all that he left. He'd become synonymous with a failing leadership group. Connor and Tav became the default outlets for fan frustrations. However, as said above, we won't realise how good he was until we try to replace him. There are few centre halves since the Gough era who have been on his level. Class message as well.

Russ

Love Solsbury Hill. Right in the feels every time.

NataliaWalters

Just discovered these daily updates, enjoying listening to them! 👏

Russ

The only thing I recall about Hannibal is him coming on when Utd were getting humped and booting the Liverpool players. If that happens in an OF the lad would never recover.

Allan

I'm fine with Tav and Goldson moving on if that is how it ends up. Sometimes a fresh start is the way to go. However, I'm not sure they are such a problem some make out. As things. stand now, no Goldson and possibly no Tav we are worse off.

Billy Forrester

The Instagram and Facebook loyal are in the majority a disgrace who couldn’t find their way to Ibrox if being guided by a police escort. Absolute zoomers on there who call themselves rangers fans but yet the vast majority neither frequent Ibrox or pay towards our club. They are clowns who don’t represent the real fans we do have, if they did they would not hound every player from Glasgow after a bad 45 mins. I no longer even look at comments on the club Facebook or instagram, the other rangers pages made up by some clown in a bedroom are horrendous also.

Billy Forrester

Very heartfelt and classy statement from Conor. Wish the big man nothing but the very best, he has been superb for us and gave me some wonderful times and memories. A very very good defender who will be missed but I do think the time is right as he is the brunt of our supports frustrations along with Tav due to being here the longest and suffering the most with us and I feel this season would have been even worse for him. Tav will get the brunt of it now if he stays and I think maybe he should now do the same sadly All the best Conor Goldson 💪💙

Craig Lamont

The David Brent reference subconsciously summed up the Bennett interview. 😂😂😂😂

Baz

Never any question on Goldsons desire towards Rangers and the best of luck to him in his new venture. Players come and go it’s the nature of the game. Unfortunately his injuries and pace have been a factor in Rangers decision to let him go.

David Innes

Goldson has been a great servant to the club - until last season he was indispensable. Looking back his double in the win at Parkhead was definitely his peak. If we are going to have any chance of being successful he needs replaced by someone who is already as good as he was that season.

Tamus

Glad Goldson is gone I'll never forgive him for Seville

Jim Milne

Maybe I'm in the minority but I believe Goldson was worth one more season. If we are to believe Clement regarding preseason preparation under Michael Beale then surely we must recognize that Goldson started last season against Kilmarnock with ZERO preseason. It was no shock to me he tanked towards the end of the season. I'm not saying he would be a colossal defender this season but I believe his performances were skewed by terrible fitness and stamina preparation due to Beale.

Stace1ofthePeople

I would agree as much as we need a clear out, getting rid of every single experienced player especially a leader like godson is a massive turnaround. Every single player will need to gel and hit the ground running which is unrealistic. Due to lack of fund we are buying projects and not every player we bring in is the finished article ready to jump straight it. Takes time to know the system etc Hopefully with a wee bit fortune we can turn out some positive results and go into the tims game with a stronger squad. I would also keep godson before Tav as I feel our defence is stronger with CG than it is JT.

Gregg

Agree however to get a fee and £37k off the wage bill is the counter argument. Only a good deal if he is adequately replaced

maccalsa

I think that's the main thing, his wages were huge, you have to balance up value for money sometime. If he was in 10-15K that would have been different
