John Smith

Andy what are your thoughts on John Halsted ? I think he’d make a brilliant chairman ?

John Smith

The fact he’s from Wyoming makes me like him immediately. Cowboy country. But it seems he’s been the only board member to question a lot of the decisions being made. There was an article a while ago that said he was looking for more control over the running of the club. He’s got a great record of managing investments in the states and seems like someone that would be a solid leader. Just thought maybe you’d have some insider info given his trade.

Tom Martin

Andy, i am so in tune with your balance of views re the Board/ supporter. As a shareholder and also via 1872, seasons tickets etc i see a lot of things from the business side. Hate it but the hoops have been well run since we got plundered,,, and also our failure to push ahead when we got 55, then let Gio make the changes. It was me who asked Wilson at the AGM why in 2 transfer windows we had not signed a single Dutch boy!! Big mistakes have been made by John B and the Board indeed but we do not have a queue of investors waiting to help us with 10/20mil. Why give PC a deal to 2028 seemed extraordinary at this stage. So we are again trapped needlesly in a contractual sense. Still the new guys He has signed look pretty good so i hope empty the dressing room of a few this week and let him get another one or two.

Alan Cowan

I think we have to have a reality check with Tavernier. Stop trying to we could do this or that to help because we're just covering reality He was ripped a new one v Kiev, and v Hearts he was way off it. Lets call it as it is, he isn't the same player for at least a year, he's of the age where it's a decline. So what's the solution? Keep him to play infrequently and play Devine or if not Devine, then it's Sterling Or another RB Tavernier is a very high earner, probably a lot more than Cantwell Hagi Dowell Matondo, so maybe it's time to move him on to free up funds to help with end of transfer window purchases ? Your thoughts Gentlemen

John Smith

I remember that question Tom. Well said sir. Have you got any views on the likes of Halsted, Taylor, Wolhardt etc. ?

Paul

That was excellent lads.

Heart and Hand

Undoubtedly true. I’ve said since end of last season I think it’s best he goes. But if he doesn’t, and his form doesn’t pick up, he’ll be exposed more and more.

Alan Cowan

Yes, But why to you think PC has selective blindness or loyalty to him when he's made his mind up regarding others. I just don't get it. It's Scott Wright syndrome

william Irvine

Good to hear Andy the voice or reason😁

John Smith

I would like to see more Americans personally. Executives as well. Guys and Gals that know how to get stuff done.

Graham Jones

From the things I’ve heard we need to look elsewhere for CEO. This isn’t;t from St Mirren supporters, but from people who had dealings at St Mirren from within the club. We need a CEO who can run a club the size of Rangers and operate at a level higher than domestic football. I agree that we do need someone on the board with experience of how to deal with the politics in Scottish football, but I just don’t think we’re there yet with the right CEO.

Rona Bluebell

In uncertain and often disappointing times, it’s reassuring to have big Andy around. As Tom Ford would say, fucking fabulous.

Stephen

Love Andy on the pod 👏👏

William Alston

Andy we are all thankful for the money from the investors but just because they have put it up doesn't mean they can't be criticised for how they run the club. Bennetts chairmanship has been a disaster, maybe that role just isn't for him.

Paul Kerr

I don't know anywhere near enough about CEOs to make a call on the St Mirren guy's credentials. I think perception from supporters is that we need somebody with experience at a club similar in size, I suppose the trouble with that is those clubs operate in much stronger markets than we do and can pay ridiculous salaries. Dowell is the footballing equivalent of biege, pretty quickly we all got sick of looking at him. He doesn't get enough flak when i's being dished out because he's so forgettable. The stadium getting back on track can only help the mood.

Tom Martin

John, Andy the Sage may be better placed to comment. The collective Non Execs have had a poor few years in terms of the outcomes across the club. My feeling is they are very genuine but too many choices they have made have not been great. From the

Tom Martin

outside looking in, we need a couple of fresh faces as soon as poss. A J is blue thru & thru but his days of influence left a while ago, but i am sure John B has needed him in the past 8 wks or so. In the manager we trust,,,,no alternative. Crash helmets on and support the Rangers as best we can as the real enemy is still the mob in the east.

Michael

Great words Andy, putting a sane perspective about the board.

DITA

Superb show!! Love when David and Andy get together.

Glyn Davies

The Tav conundrum continues.....I am definitely in the camp that he should of left/go before more damage is done. That being said, I have a sneaking suspicion he will play every game, take every penalty & almost every free kick yet again. Ahead of the game at the Chamber of secrets we must be prepared for Tav to play therfore we must pray PC is aware of Tav's limitations & sets the team up accordingly to give Tav some cover....that will hopefuly mean no Tom Lawrence & a MF of Sterling, Barron & Diomande & if he is fit perhaps Balogun for his recovery pace at CB.....maybe the game vs County on Saturday will be a dress rehearsal

Roderick Boyle

Always good to hear Andy and yourself David , a good mix of views , except when you two kept agreeing 😂

Iain Graham

Word of caution on the Hibs game at end Sep. It might still be the Saturday as EL games the previous week are on the Weds as well as Thursday.

William Alston

Fair enough, suppose it comes across like that sometimes when folk have a go at them, maybe that's just me though. I get that asking for them to go is crazy but I suppose that's the first thought people have when they are annoyed with the current situation.

jamey Carruthers

Wait and see regarding the CEO is a mental shout lads? We’ve just had Bisgrove spending ridiculous money on wages and now we’re in a terrible position. We can’t afford to wait and see. CEO with track record in football is required.

Hendi

If we got someone at a club of a comparable size them it would be someone taking a sideways career move. I'd rather take someone that's moving upwards, not reached the limit of their abilities.

Steven63

Would I be correct in saying there was no flagship show last week? Great pod as always.

8luenose1872

I honestly think hes playing like his hearts not in it. The amount of stick he got u can maybe understand but if that was the case he should just hand in a transfer request. I find it hard to believe a player can fall off a cliff as much as he has but maybe im wrong.

Gregg McKee

‘Continuity CEO’ I bloody well hope now lads. Things have to change

Rose Mcloughlin

How I wish this could be put through the tanoyd to our rangers fans....get fresh blood...start having patience to know we will have ups and quite a few downs but dont treat each as a disaster...stability..then the good times might come roaring back.

Heart and Hand

And frankly unless someone is a CEO who knows a) the job spec at Rangers and b) exactly what he does currently how can they judge? People want the illusion of control over their football club when the truth is we have very little. So yes, we will have to wait and see. He may be good, bad or indifferent.

Martin Sutherland

Great pod lads. The Tav issue is a growing concern, and one the manager is clearly blind to. The midfield of Sterling, Barron and Diomande was when we looked our strongest on Saturday. If Lawrence comes straight back in the manager has lost the plot. Agree on Souttar and would include the midweek game as well. He looks better with Propper

jamey Carruthers

I’m sorry but working at Stmirren doesnt equate to working at Rangers and when I say we can’t afford to wait and see I mean the club. Track record of CEO of a club our size we should be paying accordingly and getting the right man for the job.

Heart and Hand

I don’t disagree - I’d like a bit more ambition. But if this is the guy then all we can do is hope he does a good job. If he doesn’t the criticism will be on those who appointed him.

Paul Kerr

I think it's the comfort of a safe pair of hands who know what they are doing that appeals after all the clusterfucks we've endured. I like the idea of talent on the way up myself, if we can get it. Yeah, they will move on quickly, but only if they are successful.

Paul Holst

I’m peeved too Andy. Peeved at Tav and it’s not Tav bashing. It’s time for him to move on - that’s without the lack of output up front and the defensive ‘challenges’

chris smith

Tav absolutely cannot play at Parkhead
