James McConnachie

Do think we’ll ever sign a striker or are we going to try and disprove the universal theory that winning teams need goalscorers?

C. J

No thanks on Brekalo. Everyone Anyone.

Barry Drysdale

Baltic you say.. here in Rhodes it’s a mild 32 degrees 🇬🇷🔴⚪️🔵

Alan Weir

I will always be eternally grateful to the Buzzcocks for having the greatest ever support band at the Glasgow Apollo: Joy Division.

Andy McG

Central heating on here in cold North Ayrshire.

James Cameron

Dessers was a super sub at Feyenoord.. so he can do that job. He's come in with a full pre season, might actually be really good with some rotation this season!

Heart and Hand

I think having ability to not have to play him every minute would help yes. Look at kyiv game. He wasn’t playing well, which happens, and in most teams would have been subbed after an hour. But we couldn’t so he stays on another 30 minutes with fans getting more and more frustrated with him.

James Cameron

Fully agree, a fit Danilo is a player who can press and press, while Dessers off the ball movement is the best in the league. It would be nice if Hamza turns out to have a bit of the Alfie's about him, certainly has the build. That gives us a rounded forward line, whether they can stay fit and be supplied is then the issue.

James McSween

Dessers should have been told to go to Atlanta Utd. No ifs or buts. Replacement in before window closes. Danilo or Lovelace up front against Ross County. You’d think we would have a list of replacements ready to go. Clement/Koppen have been planing this window since December.

John Palmer

We're a Shambolic mess, even in the 90's when we were running riot, the manky mob never looked this Shambolic on the field, they still had good team's. How has our Club come to this???

Heart and Hand

We are a mess but your memory is playing tricks if you don’t think Celtic were a disaster early 90s. Not that it’s much consolation.

James McSween

I get that but you’d expect every player would be advised at end of season that if a club meets their valuation then they would be sold. Especially with this player trading model that everyone bangs on about.

Graeme McLeod

I think Celtic running us close in 95-96 and 96-97 and their signings of Di Canio, Cadete and van Hooijdonk has something to do with that. Towards the end of our 9IAR they had a decent team, but after 98 they were a shambles on the pitch again until O'Neill came in. Off the pitch though, we're approaching 90s Celtic level ombishambles.

Graeme McLeod

But a club can't tell a player they'll be sold. That worked 30 years ago, but not now. If a player doesn't want to go, a club can't really force it. Look at last summer. Saklala didn't initially want to leave and it took being banned from the training ground and his career being put in limbo to force it. And plenty of players will shrug that off as the club have a contractual obligation to pay them.

KennyY

Surprised big Cyriel didn’t want to move given the treatment he’s had from day 1 from sections of our support. He’s the best goalscorer we have in our squad at this moment in time and will be leagues top goalscorer this season imo.

KennyY

Does Jeftes red card against Kiev mean a ban in the Europa league group games. Sorry off topic completely but just wondered

Nobody knows what Danilo is as he hasn’t played anywhere near enough to judge. People seem to have blanked out he wasn’t any more prolific or dynamic than Dessers before he got injured. Dessers pace might not be electric but he clearly has an engine and can press, can the rest of the team is the wider isssue? Danilo was also a super sub and not a starter in Holland and was never prolific in his career. Danilo might be amazing for us but that’s based on speculation and hope not any sample size of note. Think David’s argument is the most relevant around age and recovering value but I disagree with the proposal than Danilo has been considerable better than Dessers who suffers from the Beale taint early on and his being ever present in a team folk don’t like and hasn’t delivered success. I like Dessers I think he is vastly under appreciated and I would take him before any of the other options at the club at this point, mainly on attitude, work ethic and availability which he showed over a season. He looks more comfortable and better this season. Even if we brought in a replacement we then take a punt and speculate instead of going with a known commodity. For me until Danilo shows much more and that he is past the injury Dessers is the striker not just the stand in. High hopes for Lovelace though and let’s hope the equally mythical youth development academy model is actually put into practice and one of the Uk talents we hoovered up actually get some game time. Our youth model is about as productive as our transfer model.

Russ

Think you've answered your own question there mate. By the looks of it the club think Cerny and another winger will cover the goals we lack up front. Even then I'd suggest Dessers is a 'goalscorer'..slightly tounge in cheek though.

Colin Mathie

I've had my heating on for ages in my house, its been freezin all summer, well whatever summer we've had.

James McSween

Hopefully he does, just a pity Danilo and Igamane aren’t 100% as I would have expected Dessers to have been sold already.

Ryan Stewart

The Matondo to Leeds stuff was rubbished pretty much instantly unfortunately. Links came from Football Insider who tend to just throw 💩 at the wall constantly in the hope something sticks. Would be a good one to get shot of

Heart and Hand

Yeah they were last week (which is why I didn't mention it) but they reemerged at weekend. Could of course be his agent trying to smoke clubs out!

Graham Jones

I admire Camry’s optimism, but I’m not sure it will be as simple as laying new turf because that pitch we have is open of those expensive hybrid pitches that EPL use. We have a very good ground staff though, so maybe they will be able to make it as painless as possible to play on for the players. I’m sure the UV light rigs will be working overtime. My guess is that it’ll be after the second international break before it’s back to its best, because then they will get to have no traffic on it for two weeks. It’s good to know we’re still looking to deal with, but I’m never confident when these names leak out so soon in the process. I don’t see Dessers leaving this season unless we bring in a direct replacement first, and I can’t see us affording a striker that fits the bill. I’m not fussed if he stays because he’s scoring goals. Ally McCoist wasn’t the finished article early in his career, and Hateley struggled early doors as well. It can take some players time to settle, especially in a position like striker if you don’t get a few early goals. What can’t be denied is his attitude, because the flak he has taken would’ve made others crumble and he’s still going.

Bob MacCallum

If this guy starts most games, we will win NOTHING. You only need to remember fans saying that in January if we relied on him and didn't bring in a proper striker we were done for. Most fans know more than most managers!

Bob MacCallum

Danilo could have played for 20 minutes but, hey, apparently not fit enough. And this is us with a new Director of Performance ( fitness) brought in by Phil.

Tommy

Dessers is frustrating but can't deny his contribution. Cammy said he doesn't believe he's the player to come off the bench but he's done it in the past and done it against St Johnstone with a goal and assist

Billy Forrester

Aye let’s sell the only goals in our team at moment. Least of our worries at moment 🤦‍♂️ plus the guy obviously wants to be here and fight, more than can be said for some of the other wage thief’s

Billy Forrester

Too much money Andy, central heating won’t be on here in Stepps until at least Oct 1st. They will get blankets and puffer jackets

Dougie

Any ideas as to why we haven't managed to get Sima on loan when he's now signed for Brest on loan? We were told we couldn't bring him back because of the transfer fee Brighton were looking for. Is he not out of contract next summer anyway, which would mean Brighton have basically released him for whatever the loan fee was?

Ewan Christie

He’s still Brighton’s asset, and they’ll want him playing CL football and in a better league I think..

Graham Roy

I heard someone say they had a 1 year option they can trigger. No idea if true though

Graham Roy

Yes he is the best goalscorer in our squad which shows how bad we currently are. He was given plenty of support last season until we saw how awful he can be. I also wouldn’t put money on him being top goalscorer in the league!
