Greg

Jeez Louise, stephen be happy we got the goal given to us. So negative

George Harrison

There was NO first whistle, and the players did NOT ALL stop … yes, the ref pointed, and he was wrong to do so, but the players who could influence play did NOT stop …

Stigger

Move on!

Suzy

Sorry Steven , you're wrong . The whistle was after the ball was in the net. Yes he raised his hand and yes some players stopped because they thought it was a foul, not because they heard anything, but it's the old addage - play to the whistle and we certainly did .

Russ

Is this what they call the Mandela effect?

JimGLW

Lot of emotion on all sides about a whistle/non whistle 🤣 What's this about Jefte having to play at left back? That's his position. Big worries about this team going to Parkhead. Lethargic and weak all over the pitch vs a pish St.Johnstone.

Jim McCutcheon

Thanks guys interesting stuff as usual, enjoying the show 👍

JimGLW

Some Rangers legends found the over the top celebrations embarrassing, it isn't just people who hate us who found it really weird.

Gregg McKee

St. Johnstone appear to have accepted the whistle didn’t go before the ball was in. The TV pictures proved the same.

Kyle Fitzpatrick

Release the audio! Only one whistle, it was the refs body language and that of the St J defenders which meant there was no celebration. Just presumed it wasn't a goal, but we a correct decision, for once.

Robert White

Let's reduce the negativity. We are where we are. The team needs our support and big Phil clearly has a longterm plan. I just want a bag a cans and back to Ibrox

James Macleod

Steven mate, just look at the data, 1 whistle after the ball hit the back of the net. No cover up on this one the ref waited as he should for the end of the attacking play. then blew the whistle. He put his hand up then down not ideal but not wrong.

Graeme Homer

Gave up after Stevie’s continued rant about a whistle that didn’t happen. Jesus Christ the amount of negativity surrounding us is a joke, didn’t see this when King and Gerrard were spending money and failing.

David Millar

Referees often point at something to indicate they have noted an incident but allow play to continue while there is in the referee’s opinion a possible advantage to the attacking team. Not unusual and not wrong. It’s the whistle that is played to not the referee’s body movements.

Stegz

More or less what I was going to say. I suggest folk picked up on the body language indicating that he may blow for a foul then incorrectly recall when the whistle was actually blown. In fact it is objectively the case that the whistle went after the ball was put in the net. Plus if you thought the St Johnstone players stopped you were watching a different game. That keeper did not think play had stopped, not a chance. Sorry Steven but you were wrong on this and I don’t think you should be doubling down and pouring fuel on our enemies fires. This controversy is all about trying to say things even themselves out. Just wait for the 1st of September when we get another dodgy VAR call against us. That’ll be the evening up they talk about.

JimGLW

I think they are just passing comment rather than getting worked up?

JimGLW

Gerrard was improving us from a mess very clearly. There is negativity just now because there's plenty to be negative about. Not just because.

David A

More to the point, referee MacDermid is one to watch,he also had to go to VAR to award both penalties against St Johnstone in the league last season

John Davidson

Love you Steven but you have had a nightmare here mate with Whistlegate.

Angus Mackay

Good show, lads, thanks. Although the first part was more murder mystery than football analysis. “I definitely heard the whistle BEFORE the shot was fired” 😀

gordon naughton

Yeah strange premier sports showed the video with audio, zero controversy other than the refs body shape 🤔

Stuart Sheils

Isn’t Ricky foster an example of players who came in on loan then signed later 🤣 🙈

Greg Cameron

Stevie, what's yer order when ye go to Indian Scene ?

Steven Miller

If you don't like it, don't listen Jamie....if you don't agree with what you hear, but insist on commenting, have a wee bit of decorum when doing so. The lads commit their own time to bring us these shows. Also, it would appear you're a bit of a grass 👍🏻

Craig

Always good to hear different opinions from the podders and not singing from a script. Keep up the good work 👍

Steven Harrigan

Not been in a while, quite like a jalfrezi or a tikka kebab from around tye corner at the East End Tandorri. What's yours?

Douglas Innes

Loan players especially quality loan players will be essential to Rangers going forward , we may afford a certain transfer fee and wages for a certain standard of player but we will probably struggle to get that " next level " player on a permanent deal as the transfer fee & wages are out of reach for us but that " next level " players wages is something we can afford for 1 player a season depending on what position we need that level of player to play........ after the sale of O'Riley I wouldn't be surprised if that mob do similar as it's Less long term risk

Bradley johnson

Can see sima being the new Weiss, continually linked. Can only see sima returning if he fails in his next move

Ranger1972

Strange hill to die on Harrigan. Miles off it 😂

Spoon

Can see Sima being injured again myself. Bullet dodged with him for me, epitome of how we over hype guys who show up in flashes. Need to stop signing guys, even loans, who are out more than available.

David Anderson

So many times our players go in for a 50 50 or similar and stop as they automatically think a fouls coming. A real peeve of mine, so it was good to see dessers play on as there was no whistle. And there was no whistle, look at their players. Arms up claiming for a foul, you don't do that 5 seconds after the ref blows.

Bob MacCallum

Sorry, Stevie, you are so wrong. The defensive St J players who could have stopped Dessers DIDN'T stop. The guy tried to tackle Dessers who chopped back on him then the keeper closed him down, making himself bigger. You're spouting the Levein nonsense. Ref was outside the box with all the players having their back to him so his "gesturing" couldn't be seen by the defenders around Dressers.

Angela Frater

On "whistlegate" - when the SFA/St Johnstone (or whoever) discuss "reviewing the audio" of an inciddent, I might be wrong but I don't really think they are listening to the TV/Media audio - surely they are listening to the audio from the linked mike system between the Ref/Assistants/VAR team? And since that's pretty close to the Ref's mouth (and therefore whistle) I'm sure that's somewhat more accurate than "I heard in the stadium" or "on premier sports I heard..."

Douglas Innes

In regards to the whistle , old high school physics demonstration that sight ( seeing something ) travels quicker than sound so I don't think the SFA have got this wrong and possibly Steven heard another whistle or possibly a " shriek " in crowd ...... Physics teacher took a shot gun out onto playing fields ( about 4 football pitches away ) and fired it into sky we saw the smoke then heard the bang

Doug Maclean

Sorry guys look back and listening to the audio through headphones The referee gestured but did NOT blow the whistle. The St Johnstone players did NOT stop. Look at the video. None of their players were looking at the referee. The defender tried to tackle and the goalkeeper definitely played on until the ball was in the net The audio that the SFA are talking about is their own audio between the ref and linesmen. It absolutely heard when the whistle was blown after the ball was in the net Why did the ref allow VAR. listen to Clemente’s explanation. Other than gesturing the referee got the rules 100% correct and VAR was used correctly

Scott Watson

Yeah absolutely - nobody at his age is coming back to Scotland if they are performing well in France

Scott Watson

Thank you gentlemen, thoroughly enjoyable show as usual Stevie, I've said it before but it's no less true for repetition - the attention to detail of your preparation and analysis is first class and we are spoiled to have it. We are so used to it we probably don't notice it as much as we should Dare I say, we might even be so used to your consistent excellence we might pay far more attention to far less important topics than is deserved

Douglas Innes

I think the confusion is because the ref half turns and indicates with his hand that he's going to give the foul but then blows as the ball hits the net , I think because St Johnstone players see the ref actions that's where their complaint comes from...... VAR actually saves the ref from a howler
