What exactly are we replacing , he’s done. We aren’t winning anything this season and our squad should be good enough to finish second. Get a few more in January, bleed in. Then more again in summer

Peter Hosie

Without even listening but Sterling is the replacement so sounds like this is PR as no one wants Tav and that includes most fans.

Craig

Sterling hasn't proved he can start three games in a row never mind 60 games a season.

Chris Scott

Tav is staying? You’ve ruined my afternoon today 😜

Martin Sutherland

The James Tavernier situation will be the final episode of Clement’s reign. He isn’t good enough to start yet the manager consistently picks him. We gave two other right backs in the squad and a youth player behind them. Sell and cash in whilst we can.

chris smith

For the love of god just sell Tav. If reducing the wage bill this summer was the number 1 aim just finish the bloody job. Its not like we actually ‘need’ a 31yo jobber from EFL league 1 to come in for cover anyway … push the boat out and get a 6 …. Tune btw …;-)

CRAIG CASSELLS

I would guess I have been one of Tav's biggest fans down the years but even I have conceded it is now best for all that he goes. We already have a replacement in Sterling, who showed conclusively at Celtic Park he is never a good enough midfielder to make that position permanent.

David Campbell

Surely Hagi knows if he wants to be involved he needs to wave that clause. Any idea when the European packages will be out just over a week until the europa league starts and there has been nothing.

Vanb bryceter

Im with you David champing at the bit to see us play again. Clement has a couple of decisions to make on Tav playing or not and Lawrence which will affect my mood greatly . We need to get the Hagi conundrum sorted ive always liked his attitude and if we can agree a reduced wage he should come back into the squad until January and reevaluate then.

Gareth Williams

Good luck to St Johnstone filling 2 whole touchline stands. A fortress.....fuck me man, they have never ever ever in their whole history been able to fill those stands, I vaguely even remember we had 3 full stands (Guivarch scored) at one point. Another financial loss for an SPFL club already strapped for cash! Idiots.

Peter Hosie

I agree about Tav but sorry can’t agree we’re not winning anything especially four games into the league. Let’s not forget the supercomputer made us play last year’s 1st and 3rd place in the league away from home and squashed in between really crucial CL qualifiers. They also played us and 12th place at home and 7th and 9th away. Some coincidence that.

Derek Robertson

Lots of fans didn't want Tilman either , another example of not to take the majority of fans comments on players seriously

James

There were sections of our fanbase who said Tillman was rubbish. Makes you wonder what they see :D

Boab hanvey

Might be true about Sterling never being good enough to play midfield but can't judge him there after one game when he's not played midfield or even much at Al this season,I would like to see us find him a position and stick to it as he has the athleticism that we lack. Personally I think he would be a good centre half with his attributes.

This team aren’t equipped to beat Celtic. And I fear for us in games v Aberdeen at the minute too

Graeme Burns

Given the volume of clubs who are restricting away allocations the argument around preventing league reconstruction as clubs ‘need’ 3+ OF home games has been blown away. Time to move to a 16-team league, play each other twice then break into 4 groups of 4 teams; 1-4, 5-8, 9-12, 13-16; play a further 6 games for a total of 36 games. Top group play for the title, second group play for 5th place and Europe, third group play for 9th and home cup ties the following season, and the bottom group play where 13th stays in the league and 14, 15, 16 all get relegated.

John Smith

One of the greatest songs of all time

John Smith

Best wishes to George Burley 🙏

Ryan Stewart

If the interest is real the club need to let Tavernier go, for his own sake as much as anything else. I’d rather we held off on signing someone until January, take our time and get someone we actually want for the long term rather than rushing a short term replacement. We have Sterling and Kasanwirjo. Devine and then King who could cover beyond that. Adam Devine is 21 years old, if we don’t trust him to be 3rd choice RB until January we’d be as well closing the academy down, save the money and just put it towards the first team

Ben

Is it not the alleged extra £1m due to Genk that is holding Hagi back as opposed to a few grand extra a week? Or was that just paper talk?

Stevie Auld

Regarding the Hagi situation, why can't he at least train with the first team? The manager can get a look at him and it might even help some of the other players. just a thought.

Stephen

It’s true. We are terrible for judging players based on a few games. Remember Cardoso being slaughtered all the time. The guy ends up at Porto! It’s really not a healthy environment for young players to develop in. It’s a major problem for us.

Ricky

Some fans could see Tillman didn’t want to be at Rangers. Don’t think many thought he was rubbish.

stuart wood

Genuine question : Does anyone rate Lawrence or Dio higher than Hagi? Given that we have (allegedly) saved some wages on some of the summer sales, he should be playing, clause or not. The fact he isnt playing when our no 10 options are, to be kind, 'a bit pish' is a massive concern to me over Clement.

Derek Agnew

Has Clement not shut the door on Hagi as a 10 and he needs to find other options? Different position?

Doug Young

Are we thinking Clement is just a stubborn intransigent individual? That's where my thinking is going at the moment. Nothing necessarily wrong with that in a manager but when it seems to be arsing up the dressing room? Or is that just idle speculation going around...

Doug Young

Me too. Cutting his nose off to spite his face a wee bit. And it's going to repeat itself, this situation, every manager we change. Need stability but that looks some way off.

Graham Miller

Forget a replacement just let Tav go. I’m sure after the awful abuse he was subjected to after OF game he wants out

Colin McL.

I can’t believe we would procrastinate further on Tav. We’re asked to understand a squad rebuild & wage cuts and yet would continue with the highest paid player contribute diminishing returns.

Lee Branki

Alright David will you guys be covering Clement’s q&a tonight. Appreciate it is for the charity but would be interesting to see what the manager will say tonight?

Robbie McCarroll

I do rate what Lawrence can do but seeing his lack of effort and tracking back against them has put me right off him, Hagi is a grafter and would be determined if given the chance

Heart and Hand

It’s not a media event mate. Obviously if anything interesting comes out of it we’ll discuss it but I don’t think there will be any major revelations.

Samuel Campbell

Seems to be a lot of players still out of contract, a direct replacement for Tav or a replacement midfielder for Sterling moving to right back must be out there

Tommy

It's one of those 'let's agree to disagree' moments; Tav has contributed greatly compared to our recent pool of players over the last 10 years. He is a bridge to our recent significant history which links to our present position in the most polarising way. He has lost ability in the last 2 seasons. He hasn't lost the effort and contribution though. Unfortunately, Tav has lost the little defensive skill he had and is being ask to play a system that asks him to defend more. Tav should have left in the summer. I think there were plenty opportunities to do so and I think we're seeing someone who probably thinks he should've now. It's a real shame we're having to confront players and the board, but I feel it is a necessary evil in order to evoke change. Tav would've smashed the Italian league btw.

John Breen

You forgot Broxi Bear that would be a better option for Tav. He needs to go

Derek MacMillan

Does the intro music fall under classic rock these days?

Rose Mcloughlin

As you said why not just let Hagi have a go..the fans loved him esp one famous euro night...but is it the manager doesnt like to back down after what he has said before...so stalemate.

John Palmer

What's being done to Hagi is just another example of how much of a Shit Show our Club is. I don't care of his attitude stinks or what he said or his Agent said a few months ago, just sit him down, tell you're not getting a pay bump unless you prove it. I'll give you 5 games to my mind. Earn the shirt or earn a move so Rangers can earn money or players worth something.
