Rangers. Please. I beg you. Go get a fuckin experienced football c.e.o. Its important. Its needed. Do it!

Stewart Robertson

Is it just me that's starting to get that 2010-2011 feeling again, that something ain't right ?

David Smart

We’ve been charitably donating wages to several players over the last few years that’s the only similarities I see

Heart and Hand

I don’t think so - with that, we knew something was wrong from 2004. Financially we’re skint but stable. Operationally we’re a mess.

David Campbell

I think there is a power struggle going on at the moment king/Bennett v the Parks. Until the nonsense is sorted out no CEO has a chance of success.

Brian Rae

We really do need to go and get the best CEO that's willing to come to us. I'd argue it's far more important as a new 1st team player. The vice chairman of St Mirren/ CEO of a smallish charity isn't what we need and reeked of penny pinching/old pals act.

David S.

The last two CEO's where poor hires. We need to get this one right.

John Cox

Can I get in touch re. the ticket for Sunday?

Vanb bryceter

We need a horrible ruthless barsteward to run the club. Its beyond embarrasing now the number of clusterfucks bennet has overseen in his tenure.

Russ

If the club appoint a beggar who went on GO (Celtic Sponsors) then they really were born yesterday. I liked the link to the woman who was senior at Nordsjaelland/Right to dream, she'd be able to implement the trading model at least. Fans would balk at the talent factory route but it's a viable (dare I say sensible?) option for us. Realistically. It COULD be successful in terms of trophies if done right too - think Salzburg, Benfica, Ajax. Give Henderby the AD role and all of a sudden you've got joined up thinking! Alas, that would be sensible.

Daniel Ward

A ruthless but street smart CEO will be needed for us

Graeme McLeod

I keep saying it, but we need the board to appoint a David Holmes figure and leave the running of the club to him. And it'd be part of that person's remit to put the business infrastructure in place, and the football infrastructure in place. I'd argue that since the day David Murray took control we've operated based on the cult of personality rather than being well run. And that only worked, on the football side, under Walter Smith. And even then that success only masked the shambles behind the scenes. Until we have proper infrastructure we'll just keep bouncing from one mess to the other, and even if we land on the right manager, we won't have the tools in place to support him. It can be done too. But it's difficult to trust this board to get it right.

Heart and Hand

You also need a CEO who isn’t afraid to upset support sometimes. Not treat us with contempt - but equally take unpopular decisions if they are the right ones long term.

Ryan Stewart

Zeb Jacobs left over 4 months ago, James Bisgrove left over 3 months ago, neither of these positions have been filled yet. Simply put, we are not a serious football club. Said on Twitter last night, we need to be hiring a consultancy firm to find people to fill these roles and restructure the whole club. I have absolutely zero confidence in the ability of the current board to select the right candidates.

Graeme McLeod

Definitely. Thing with that is if they need to have the conviction in their decision making and, assuming those decisions are right, in time we'll understand them. There's a certain ruthlessness that's required.

Russ

The club need to treat this next CEO search like they're looking for a transformative signing for the team. It's not very Rangers to say this but I'd rather spend the money we were supposedly going to splash on that young Centre Back on a brilliant CEO.

Bobby

Murphy or rangers or even Brighton have to name the club. Softness on and off the park is making us an easy target. Be aggressive , name them , shame them and tell the governing bodies that the club names should be disciplined for outside interference in another clubs matters - bringing the game into disrepute

Cameron Broadfoot

Rangers is owned by a very few block shares, like a family company they block shareholders won’t keep out of it as they have serious money interests

Tom

Bit of a bullet dodged on Gillespie I think, if he doesn't want to be at a club of our size he looks like he doesn't have the correct mentality for us and I wish I had a pound for every time I've thought "why do footballers bother signing for Turkish clubs in the first place?"

John leitch

We need a decent CEO and fast We have been winging it for too long

Barry

Surely trying to scupper a rival's transfers this way is against the rules or could have been reported to the CMA! Do you know if the club reported this to the authorities or anyone else?

Hendi

The fan's view of a prospective CEO should be utterly irrelevant. I'd guarantee 99% of us couldn't tell you a thing about what makes a good CEO.

Neil 55

Thanks for the musical education David .😁

Chris Scott

The next CEO needs to make it clear to the fans, unlike Bennett, that they are not scared of us and they are going to do A, B and C and, as a result, D, E and F will suffer but as a result these *things* will improve. We are a rudderless ship right now and Bennett is a well meaning but, ultimately, utterly hopeless, therefore we need a CEO to just take things out of his hands.

Graham Jones

It will embarrass them in the business community now, but at the time that could’ve become legal. We are on the stock market so it would’ve had implications at the time, and they would’ve been faced with charges if the allegations could’ve been made to stick. It’s probably better that other clubs know wheat they are dealing with now, as it will make people more wary of them. And yes, it was them who were doing it. We dodged a large bullet with Gillespie. He should never have been in the conversation. Bennett isn’t suited to run the club. He’s a fantastic hedge fund manager, but the last one that ran Rangers was Mather, so he’s not in great company there. They have a different skill set in business, and let’s leave it at that. That doesn’t mane we have a CEO and they will just be given a free rein, because the investors will never allow that. He should ask King to return to the board fort a period and let him take on some of the responsibilities. Not everyone would like it, but he would help steady the ship, and I’m pretty sure he would have a better idea of who to target as CEO. Bennett isn’t a bad person, he’s just got skills that are better suited to the square mile in London.

Damien Stubbs

Right David. You’re the chairman and the chief execs from in here are the chief execs. Let’s get it done. Could it be more of a shit show 👀😂 genuinely don’t think so

Heart and Hand

Well, if you want a Chairman who won't interfere, I'm your man. Frankly, the less work i get the better.

Jordan McKay

Open Goal has cut that specific claim about the SPFL club out of the show. Is it tinfoil hat territory to suggest that the club in question has told them to cut it? Thank goodness the internet forgets nothing.

Graeme McLeod

Could be that or they've taken it down to prevent any possible legal bother. Given those involved in Open Goal it wouldn't be surprising if a certain club asked them to edit it out and they obliged.

Derek Robertson

Putting the money and thats great ? If it wasn't for these investors we wouldn't be here. Not sure how people can't understand this. Problem is we have too many people that think they know what they are talking about when it comes to boardroom roles. Sorry to tell you, you dont. If we chase out these investors then let's see who we get in their place. Of course the fans did have an opportunity to have a much bigger say in the club with club1872, but the cool kids of the Rangers support didn't like who was running it and advised many to leave it .

Allan

I think we are way past perception David.

Stephen Gale

Well then I demand 5% back each week for Colin's choices on Friday's. 🤣🤣🤣

Heart and Hand

I don't think many on here want to chase them. They just want them to admit their limitations on the football side and place people who are good at it in those roles. Also with Club 1872, that excuses their own failings. If they'd run it well then what outsiders said wouldn't matter. This attitude of 'it's always someone else's fault' in modern society isn't helpful in problem-solving.

David Innes

Totally agree - if the current investors decide it’s not worth the hassle anymore the only other options are full fan ownership or taking our chances with venture capitalist - neither options will make us any better on the park. The current model with better decisions being made at the top is the only way out of this mess.

Jordan McKay

I would have thought the refusal to name the club involved would have gave them the legal cover required

Heart and Hand

I think most fans would love to salute them for their financial commitment. But the club is not in a place where anyone can look at the executive decisions taken over the last period and say ‘good job’.

Conor Brown

"Help me Martin Bain Kenobi, you're my only hope"

Iaian

If you’re not the CEO of H&H who is mate?? 👀

AndyK70

The non appointment of a CEO and Jamie Murphy story are completely interlinked. We need a CEO prepared to take on Celtic OFF the park, in this case publicly shame them and investigate if any SPFL or UEFA regulations were broken by their disgusting behaviour

jacqui

Is the ticket away?

Barry

The Scottish authorities and Celtic have left themselves wide open with their behaviour since 2012 and we still haven't been able to hold them to account. It shows how weak our boards have been since regime change!

Keith Murray

Probably around 1500 episodes in the bag today 👌, David, get yourself in for the CEO job, you'd command more respect than most!

Graeme McLeod

Yeah, you'd think so but if it's the club we all know it is, they'd still threaten them with lawyers anyway.

Steven L

We’ve allowed them to be like this.

chris smith

We are certainly ‘charitable’ in both boxes …

Neil Wilson

Random music question, thoughts on World Party? Currently, updating my music collection and they've been recommended.

Rona Bluebell

Celtic are scum. That’s the beginning, middle and end of it.

Falconhoof

If youve not heard Spiritualized ladies and gentlemen we are floating in space then give that a go. Great 90s album 🫡
