Fresh off a 4-0 tanking at Tynecastle the buddies aren’t in great form but still have full faith in their manager and rewarded him with a contract extension this week.

Weird they gave Robinson a new deal when he’s doing worse than Jim Goodwin when he left

James McSween

They’ve gave Robinson the new contract incase we poach him once Clement is sacked 🤣

Surely Strider would have to dress as... Strider

Goldson would be a good book, he was always honest, even if people didn't like what he had to say. Be good to hear inside story on recent managers and tales from the dressing room. Tav's would be very disappointing... Goram or Gough would be decent, for different reasons. Barry's would be written in crayon and he'd have nothing worth reading as he's leaked all his stories to his pals in the media anyway...

Walter smith does have a book. Silversmith it's called Barry Ferguson also has a book

Just wanted to say a wee thank you to all the preview pod lads, I’ve been listening to the pods since after the last Pedro game, and the level of detail you guys go into still surprises me years later, but to also get up and do this 3x a week (especially when more often than not it’s talking about downs rather than ups) is impressive. Cheers lads! 🍻

BlueJay

It's called 'Killieween'

Always a great listen. Thanks lads. On the Euro-domestic point… I agree part of it is mentality but it’s tough playing Thu-Sun and we lack the depth to swap certain players out. And we actually did remarkable well last winter, it crumbled in the Spring.

Interesting chat on stats You know I love a quote... "Most people use statistics like a drunk man uses a lamppost; more for support than illumination" It will surprise nobody that I love a stat even more, and I firmly agree with Stevie that data doesn't lie but you have to apply it correctly The classic snark against stats "The average person has one breast and one ball" does make a useful point - if you ask a a meaningless question, you'll get a meaningless answer. That doesn't mean stats are somehow flawed, but they are only tools and if you use them for the wrong job, you'll get bad results - again Stevie's example about wingers is a perfect example There might be a show in that for the more numerically inclined - Stevie talking through looking under the numbers and how to interpret them, what to ignore and what to focus on In further agreement with Stevie, I'd love to listen to Struth in his own words. Anyone who does have interest in Struth, make sure you listen to Stevie's chats with David Leggat, probably the best insight it's possible to get

Couldn't agree more, consistently outstanding discussions and meticulous preparation. Doesn't get nearly enough recognition or credit because we're all used to it

Great pod, gents. Apropos Arthur Numan’s shock at the minibus to the student playing field to train, our club’s set up in the 1990s was a disgrace - semi pro teams in Scandinavia and the Netherlands had better facilities. If you think our club is badly run now, at least we have a state of the art training complex, highly accredited youth academy, medical, sports science, analysis and scouting departments. Auchenhowie was the first of its kind in Scotland. The media who had slammed us in earlier years for not having a complex then started slating Auchenhowie as a white elephant. Other clubs in Scotland followed Rangers’ lead and built their own facilities- the media praised them for their progressive thinking! When the EPL started many of the facilities were pretty basic and England was behind many continental countries. The 1990s saw a vast increase in professionalism in English football with new facilities being built. In the new Millennium Scotland started to catch up. The initiative announced this past week in terms of data analysis - good to see the club seeking whatever marginal gains are possible.

Great listen again guys - thanks. I think more discussion on stats and analysis to inform recruitment would be really interesting. Heard a guy called Ian Graham on the radio who was one of the analysts at Liverpool talking about player recruitment- fascinating stuff. He’s also got a book out if anyone is interested

Thank you sir. We do it for everyone that listens good or bad and for me I get to work with a brilliant group that I think can tell enjoy each other's company (and moans at times).
