John Smith

It would be really appreciated if the team turned up tonight

james whyte

From what I can see it's similar year on year. The board keep investing to repair the issues created from their own decisions. And, until we buy better, develop our own and sell well I am unsure how it improves. Just win tonight and give us some enjoyment!

Jim Milne

After the lack of signings we all hoped for, settling court cases, no player sales of any decent size, lack of champions league money and how much the Hampden/Copland Stand costs are any of us really surprised? Ok the one hand I'm frustratedAF as the mismanagement of the board since 55 & Seville, and on the other hand in grateful for the money they invest. I think it's time for the investors to recognize that although they invest their money, and it is greatly appreciated, they are not the best at running the club. John Bennett being the example, the parks before that, etc. I've been giving Clement shit on here for the lack of quality we see on the park and I do think we can do better, but he's obviously storming numerous roles around the club. Once these roles are filled I think it's unfair and even wrong of myself to say he needs sacked. Until those roles are filled, additions made to the squad we need to give Clement the time to be a coach/manager without him essentially carrying the weight of the club in his shoulders. It's hard being patient, again.....but unfortunately it's what we have to do. No other choice it seems. Let's go tonight Rangers! WATP

James Curran

Hi Cammy, I don’t disagree with your opinion on where we are and what we need to do to go forward. But we can’t keep sacking managers, we’ll need to give the manager with these young players time to adapt to the league.

Spoon

Isn’t the accounting period last season ? The Hampden impact hits next year I thought ?

Craig Mitchell

There's a song. Fifteen Love, Cameron 👏

Stewart Robertson

Andy MacGowan’s like the Man from Del Monte. I just need him to give his nod of approval, and I’ll know it’s all good.

Keith Kettlewell

I agree with the pattern of sacking managers and it needing to stop. My big fear is PC is useless regardless of the time he’s given. Time will tell

Graham Roy

That’s what I thought they have squeezed a decent amount of money off field for the success we have had. We need to win on the park and gain with the riches we get from things like champions league etc.. The playing side has let us down and the mismanagement by the board is there for everyone to see. JG needs to get the chairman and CEO in quick to at least buy some respite from the support. I do wonder if this is getting the bad news out before announcement to almost drown it out rather than the other way round?!

Tom Martin

Great work Cammy. Loved the “hate them” comment. Be good to hear you and Andy review/reflect on the Financial situation, as it is the only assessment i trust.

James McSween

Player trading model is only going to function properly when we are winning leagues.

Mark Sheen

I think you can be grateful to the board but also say that a lot of the money that has had to be be stumped up has been to fix “self inflicted” issues. So yes I appreciate that they are funding the deficit but I then think would that deficit be there if we hadn’t appointed Beale & gave him all that money to spend on dross etc

KennyY

Finally someone with some common sense. It’s not financially sustainable to keep sacking managers and their teams. That being said though we deserve to see some progress on the park to keep us believing that we can mount a challenge on all fronts. Tonight will show us whether that’s blind faith or not. Cmon the famous

Tolmie

See when you financially struggling and your manager is having a mare do you then go and give that manager an extension, mental.

James McSween

Clement expects a battle tonight, so team should come out fired up and ready for it. No more excuses!

james whyte

No idea mate. I just wish whatever structure they want to have, was in place and functioning well. As you say, get CEO and Chairman in but they must be the correct appointments!

Graeme Guthrie

It's also not financially sustainable to keep a poor manager who is failing just because you don't want to "keep sacking managers"

William George Bell

The revenue given to the club by the support is phenomenal, if the team continue to perform badly this will fall significantly if Ibrox sees reduced attendance so the club is caught between a rock and a hard place if the manager and team are taking us nowhere.

Alexander Bruce Crombie

I’m worried for tonight, I think if we lose a quick goal we could get a shagging. Nothing in this teams history would suggest they can stand up for themselves in big domestic games. Really hope I’m wrong.

Jim McCutcheon

Tonight will be a big influence on future imo hopefully we can do the business and get a big win, thanks Cammy

Tom

Come on Rangers! Let's give these B@$√@®€s a good hard kick in the teeth.

Spoon

Respect your opinion Cammy but the year on year of mismanagement of on and off field affairs is catching us up. If the loss came against a back drop of success or was a blip in an otherwise relatively stable period I could buy into the optimism or calls for steadying the ship but this mythical rebuild, restructure or reprofiling stalled at Gerrard when his ambition wasn’t matched by the club. I’m not saying he should have been backed without limits but he should have been backed, GVB was then sold out by horrendous under investment and the wrong players being bought by Wilson, Beale was just a bizarre experiment rightly called out by many at the time who were shouted down and the cumulative effect is hitting us hard now. Clement has been asked to take on a lot but he has also had players he wanted brought in to play his system. It’s fine in principal to call for patience and a focus on youth but it’s hard to square that watching patched up Balogoun, Tav, Propper and even Dessers then played. Sadly I just don’t see this vision that Clement does. Worse I don’t believe he will a/ get the players to achieve the vision /b buy into the vision working is Scotland, there is growing evidence his ethos and our league don’t sync up. I’m not sure the best argument for perseverance with a plan that seems at best 50/50 to succeed is that we had to scrap the last few plans so this one has to go ahead at whatever cost or result. If there were consistent signs of progress and growth in the squad and our performances even if the results weren’t t great that’s one thing, if we saw guys developing slowly that might be ok but that isn’t happening at all. Some players are actually going backwards. I won’t even get into the loss of £17m being normalised. Any other business is looking for far more out its assets than what we are producing with eye watering losses. We have become a club of excuses and reasons for failure, the standards have slipped off the field to such levels the on field stuff is almost inevitably doomed. I’m bored of arguing around the edges about a player or a a signing as it’s papering over the cracks to me. We don’t coach, scout, buy, sell or set up as a big club near as well as we should. The commercial stuff is really positive but generating all that extra money and still squandering it to put a lesser team than we had last year on the field is brutal. We need proper management in and quickly, ironically something we seem unable to deliver! Fair play to you setting out the positives, yes Andy might have expected it but that doesn’t make it ok. It’s not a crisis, I don’t believe it ends us but we are regressing on and off field year on year and it needs go stop. There is not point either having huge revenue and minimal profits or huge profits and wasting them on bad buys. We seem somehow to get the worst of all worlds from our board and football currently and it’s soul destroying. At least it is to me, that’s purely my own take on it.

KennyY

I would agree with you Graeme but at what point do we decide that a manager is poor and it’s not the lack of finances and previous mismanagement that have got us to this stage. Is there any manager who could bring our demanding fans instant success with this group of players. Is a year sufficient for any Rangers manager. Some of our fans would have never chosen him and made their minds up at that stage until his initial success where eventually the players bottled it. Have we been unlucky, have all of our last 3 managers including Clement been poor or have we been so hamstrung by poor player recruitment, stupid wages and constant litigation that we are now in a position where Celtic have far more financial clout than us and seem to always sell their players for silly money. We should absolutely be on par with them and able to challenge but we are buying a very different type of player from them. I’m not disagreeing with you at all I just think a year is too quick to judge a manager who has had his hands tied.

Scott Hamilton

Going on a decade of hearing 'it's not as bad as it could be' takes it toll

Hendi

The benefits of the champions league can not be under stated...... apart from the one time we did actually qualify and the board did in fact understate the impact and told us all that it wasn't all that!

JimGLW

Good stuff Cammy. Accounts are rotten and a symbol of how badly run we are

Andrew Hillis

The complete lack of stability at Board level continues to kills us! As Kevin Keegan famously said - I would love it if we beat them tonight! Was feeling confident but heard on the grapevine that Cerny hasn’t travelled! Hope that isn’t true! Match their fight and intensity and we will be fine! 💙💙🇬🇧🇬🇧🤞🤞

Graeme McLeod

Hey, now. The board used that Champions League money to bring in Ben Davies and the Turkish midget full back rather than any player than GVB actually wanted. Fantastic use of the CL funds.

stephen

Whilst it's important to acknowledge the board for their financial support when needed I'd probably prefer a capable board who could run the club without it needing continually financially supported. I don't care how you dress up those results but a 17M loss is horrendous. Also a successful player trading model will only be successful with a successful team promoting successful players.

John Smith

My new tactic Rona is too expect the worst. So I’m not too devastated if it goes wrong and I’m even more ecstatic when it goes right

John Smith

Just hope it doesn’t go the way of what ended up happening to Keegan in that game

Simon Lewandowski

up at their place midweek under the light i should be buzzing for this tonight...but and i bet im not alone in this i cant bring myself to be excited or confident after the domestic dross we are being served up on a weekly basis we all know how we will set up and how we will play and it wont be exciting

William Cameron

Couldn’t disagree more. It absolutely is a crisis state. We are rudderless in every department on and off field. We have no sign of that changing, if anything it just seems to get worse. This is a crisis, quicker we accept that and pull ourselves out of it the better.

Graham Jones

I don’t think nit’s a crisis, but it’s damn close because of the list of bad decisions made by those in power. Let’s separate the management from the board, first of all. The board needs changing in some ways. We need new investment like asking has stated, but we also need to appoint the right people as chairman and CEO. I just fear we are going to get a fudge in this area because of some of the stakeholders wanting their yes men in place. That was why the Park’s wanted Gillespie, because he was their yes man. We don’t need that, and if they give us that it will infuriate the fans. Regarding the management, whether you support Clement or not, and this is very divisive, we need to simply get on with it and support the man. I don’t acre what you think about him because he’s been honest with us to a fault at times, and we need to get behind him. The mane was sold down the river in the summer because of what the board have done. He lost sixteen players int eh sumner, so he had to rebuild on a shoestring budget, and they made it stretch to breaking point from what I’ve seen. It’s the last thing a supporter wanted to hear, but he needs out support and also out patience, because he’s working with material he might not have chosen given more realistic circumstances. The books are what they are, but the biggest take away is that we should be looking for fresh investment because I’m not sure we can rely on current decision making.

Spoon

All fair points but at what stage does he take any responsibility for how he uses the assets he has, the manager isn’t judged on what revenue the club generates or the stadium he is judged on developing our players, putting out a team to compete and establishing a winning style, not over night as you rightly say but are you convinced that we are improving even if only incrementally ? For me it’s more that year on year we are conditioned to have lower and lower expectations and if you break ranks it’s seen as unfair or not staunch. Genuinely gave me the fear when he said in an interview from the weekend there’s not a lot he can do as the games come thick and fast so training time is limited. If we aren’t working on things bar video review and next game tactics how are we going to improve ? How does he get the message across, who is actually imprinting the building blocks of his vision ? Why are other teams far below our level able to identify talent, bring it in on limited budgets and get them drilled to compete ? Lots of managers in this league are working with a fraction of what we have but get the maximum from it to punch above their weight. Your can indeed point to managers in recent times (some anyway) not being given the tools to do their job but not all. My issue isn’t I expect us to be the Harlem globetrotters but I do expect us to be tuned into this league, show far more fire and be competitive. I have sympathy for Clement for some of the additional pressure he carries as we have an MIA senior management team but he is not helping himself or controlling controllables. We also can’t just give him a pass when what he should be doing is adapting to the squad he has not the one he aspires to. He needs to bring in players better suited to Scotland, he needs to demonstrate flexibility in tactics domestically and he has to stop making excuses, it’s all the club does these days. Let’s not pretend that bar one other team Clement doesn’t have more assets and access to a higher level of talent, quality and volume of players to use than every other team in this league. Are we really suggesting we should feel sorry for him or his hands are tied ? Not for me bud, respect your view and position but I think for too long we have have carried the scars and issues from 2012 allowing it to keep us in a state of gratitude to the board without also holding them to account. Doing one good thing in stabilising the club doesn’t mean we ignore all the bad things they have done. Perhaps I’m being unrealistic, but for me at least I’m sick of seeing what we do have being badly utilised while we bemoan what we don’t have and use it as an excuse not to be or at least be striving for better.

Spoon

Mate it’s gutting as none of us want to be chatting about this but I think for a while it’s been enough just to still have a club, it’s been enough to look like we were back but sadly for us all regardless of our views I think we need to face up to the fact we just aren’t in so many areas. I have no issue giving big Phil a chance but I need more realism and intent from him, he was my pick the last time and I think even he seems to have lost a bit of fire, the big mad eyes intense guy from the early weeks has been worn down, it’s what we do to decent guys in recent times. It’s just sad bud.

Gordon Watson

We need a professional board. A professional chair. A professional CEO. And new investment. Why? Because the analysis of the financials is a seperate matter. They can’t be viewed through the prism of the current set-up because it’s clearly dysfunctional. Debt into shares is fine to keep going but we keep resetting the club by years every time the button is pressed. Why is the button being pressed? Because we’re making poor decisions consistently.
