Nice one Cyril nice one son

Jeb

I thought we were bogging tonight. Great result, but Barron aside I thought we struggled all over the park.

John Smith

A great point with a lot of improvement. But probably could’ve won tonight if we had better quality. Hopefully we build on this…..hopefully 😬

Greig Chambers

Dessers is poor, very poor, the odd great goal doesn't change that. Put it this way…..we have their striker we win that.

8luenose1872

Very good performance and result, the only time we looked in trouble was when Dio kept giving the ball away. He really needs to brush up on his ball retention in situations that are unbelievably sloppy. I think he needs a full season at our level with another preseason coz i dont think he looks physically ready for this level.

Jim McCutcheon

Excellent performance from the team 👏, can we use this as a jump up in our league performances hopefully we can 🤔, thanks again guys positives tonight 👍

Alan Weir

Absolutely spot on. I don’t know how the podders feel there is still a debate about his abilities. I know I’m being a miserable bastard, but the jokey “He’s an enigma” is depressing. Dessers is rubbish: he is the broken clock that is correct twice in every 24 hours.

David Gardner

Just some of my own thoughts on he game: 1) I was please with the starting line up - the manager hasn’t got it right most weeks but he did tonight. 2) Sterling was excellent - far better balenve to the team without Tav. DS athleticism worked really well and manager done the right thing in saving him for weekend. 3) Propper has been poor domestically but I he’s played well enough in Europe and he done well again tonight. 4) Dessers is very poor and I understand the manager starting him due to lack of options but he has to try maybe Lovelace at some point because he can’t do worse than Dessers. 4) Igamane looks raw but I think there’s a player there - maybe try him coming off the wing? Move Bajrami into the number 10

That UFO Podcast

Utter nonsense from the beginning about Dessers. He rescued a draw because he cost us 3 points not being able to finish basic chances or hold a ball up. He’s stinking. Even the goal he is lazy and his first touch is so odd the defender slides past him…

Billy Forrester

A pleasing away performance against a decent side, very solid in defence. Barron outstanding again Shoots of recovery and maybe just maybe the manager is getting somewhere. Onwards and upwards 👏💙

That UFO Podcast

See the move we have two on the overlap and Dessers hits a horrendous effort from outside the box? Bajrami goes mental

Jamiedfa

I thought Diomande was hopeless tonight

Alan Weir

And can we put to bed the myth that Dessers “lacks confidence”. Dessers’ body language suggests he thinks he’s playing well most of the time and really unlucky most times he trips over his own feet. Let’s not forget his petulant strop when substituted recently: he thought he was having a blinder! The important thing Dessers lacks is talent.

Alan Weir

Another player who promised much. Haven’t given up on him, but lack of strength and pace is concerning. Maybe with Raskin and Barron doing the heavy lifting, we might see a Dio resurgence?

Can I ask why you feel the need to continually post in a such an aggressive and hostile way? We’re all on the same side. You can disagree politely. ‘Here lads, don’t agree with that.’ I wouldn’t let any of the podders speak to you that way and I’d ask you to extend the same courtesy. I don’t want this place turning into Twitter. Thank you in advance.

Heart and Hand

We don’t feel there is a debate about his abilities. We literally said we need a striker as priority in January.

That UFO Podcast

Aye David. Or…like you yourself have said on many occasions, it stops movement, stops players overlapping, stops players passing and stifles our whole attempted style of play. He scores because we make so many chances, we draw and drop points because he converts such a small percentage of them. Like you said on recording we need better. But like others have said the whole Dessers enigma narrative isn’t funny anymore as it’s costing us those big shines things you want and I want waved at us.

Greig Chambers

I actually think 2 centre backs ideally and a decent striker, with the others that started to ight and its looking much improved. For me tonight the others around dessers were levels above and you could really see he’s a weak link.

Richard

Pretty harsh on the dessers chance on the pull back from Cerny. Thought he did well to actually make the space and get the shot on goal while his jersey was been dragged behind him. I actually thought it was a good save. But as you said, overall he’s not the answer, but we’ve had this issue for 2 years. It needs resolved

That UFO Podcast

It’s only being taken as aggressive and hostile, you are choosing to see context that may be missing in text and as you say often post match emotion. I’ll remember that in future. If you see “utter nonsense” tho as a bear of decades David I’m surprised. But, I’m not alone sir , read other comments, again, just following your path of “emotions in the moments after a match” of being frustrated at hearing for me obvious poor commentary. But that’s my opinion only, could be wrong. If I didn’t like listening I wouldn’t pay and support. I’ll remember to be more sensitive and not use comments like “utter nonsense”

Heart and Hand

Oh he needs to go. And we need a striker in January more than I need hair. But he is an enigma in that he clearly isn’t totally useless but at the same time isn’t any use.

Heart and Hand

Thank you bud, and I do take the point about postmatch emotions. You are a good contributor (and I enjoy your stuff on WTM). I thank you forctaking my point in the way I intended, not everyone would . It was a classy response and very much appreciated 💙

Heart and Hand

I’ve been after Nisbet since he was in Championship. Believe it or not, I recommended him to Rangers before he signed for Hibs! He’s a handful who is EXACTLY what we need domestically. I’d honestly rather see us sign someone like that. And while people are sick of the chat, and I get that, I won’t be convinced Shankland isn’t a big step up too.

SC81

One thing I will say for ANY modern day striker (Dessers included), it must be pish playing up front on your own all the time. Nobody to bounce passes off or have flick ons etc...

Rod

What a strange thread of negativity after a good result. I fear this weird mindset from twitter that angry = passionate is taking hold on H&H.

Greg Cameron

Credit where is due to the manager after getting it stinking and deservedly so. The shape was excellent tonight. We will tell if the penny has dropped come Sunday with regards to the line up

Heart and Hand

No, I don’t believe that. The constant falling, the hiding, these are signs. Despite his shortcomings as a player he’s a very good guy and honest. The strop a few weeks ago is so out of character and when we act like that it’s usually because pressure is getting to us.

Alan Weir

Fair enough, I just don’t think Cyriel is a goal or two away from regaining confidence and turning things round. I think the H&H assessment of Dessers is usually pretty fair and accurate, but when it drifts into “the sometimes great, sometimes terrible” enigma mode it portrays him as a better week in, week out player than he actually is or will ever be. Finally, I respect you treating the players as humans, but the fact that Cyriel may be a “very good guy” is largely irrelevant. I’m a lovely person, but I wouldn’t be any use in the Rangers team (possibly could do a job at right-back mind😁.) Keep up the great content -a godsend to those of us struggling at home with health issues as our bodies fall to pieces!👍

Alan Weir

I’m all for calling out shite performances, but tonight was a controlled, professional performance against a decent team. The lack of realism in some of our support is one of the things holding back progress.

SC81

That is not a tap in. He gets a connection on a cut back that is behind him. The keeper saves it. On another day, or another run of luck, it goes in. He deserves criticism but only when its just.

Hendi

That's a tune!

JimGLW

Oasis time! Very good result and performance. Dessers, jeez. He was appalling tonight but scored a cracker.

Kenny Park

I like to believe that Raskin and Barren have had a lot of chats behind the scenes and have decided to team up on the park. That’s how it looks. Excellent together.

Jamie Gilchrist

Is that a Supersonic remix?? Surely not lads??!! Are we on remix’s for draws?!!

Hendi

Barron and Raskin were superb, thought Souttar was solid. Cerny was always a good outball and Bajrami came on to a game. Dessers got a song from the fans after the game and a few of the team pushed him forward to encourage him to take the credit. Was good to see after the shit he's had recently.

Gary Morris

Professional performance tonight. Players stood up and were counted after copping deserved flak recently. Midfield shape was so much better and we had more dynamism and physicality about our play and we cut out some of the sterile passivity. One swallow doesn’t make a summer but the manager got it right tonight - and it was a very decent point at a difficult venue (that could easily have been three)

Jim Milne

I don't agree that the "very good guy" is irrelevant. If he was a jerk with an attitude the fans wouldn't stick with him even on nights like these where they sing his songs. We know he's limited, and if he could finish better he wouldn't be at Rangers. If we had another fit Striker to lessen the load he probably wouldn't have the weight of expectation on his shoulders that he does. In time I hope we remember him positively as a guy who frustrated us, but scored some absolutely class goals and deep down was a good human being...........who also paid for a couple wee guys to get haircuts! Ha Hope your health improves Alan. 👍

Heart and Hand

I think there’s lots of positivity. I do agree some supporters have just been disappointed too often and now can’t allow themselves to get their hopes up as they expect to be let down. Only a strong sustained run will change that.

Heart and Hand

I don’t think it’s irrelevant when speaking about his attitude which is a personal thing. It’s very relevant here as an honest, intelligent person is not likely to be deluded enough to think he’s playing well. I don’t think you can criticise him using body language/attitude then not consider personality. And I hear you on the falling apart brother, my body increasingly resembles his effort when he should have slipped in Bajrami 😂

Alan Weir

I think my harshness comes from the frustration created by the money spent, the expectation and the subsequent paucity of return in regard to Dessers. In terms of body comparisons, I am very much in Mladenovic territory …yep, that bad🤦‍♂️.

Jim Milne

Great away performance, and if this was an old Europa League format I'd expect to best them at home. I hope this is a turning point and not another false dawn. We usually don't perform well on Sundays after Europa Thursdays so I'll happily take 3 points with a Dessers tap in from 3 yards against Hearts. On a side note, Cyriel Dessers reminds me of Fashion Sakala. As a human being he's a very likeable humble person. Like Sakala he was mainly bought as the backup 2nd striker. It's not Dessers fault Danilo got injured, nor his fault Clement hasn't signed a proper striker to challenge in two windows. If Sakala was still here playing every game this is what we'd get. Lots of easy misses and goals from positions you didn't expect him to score. It's unfortunate for Dessers he's arrived in a poor squad and we've placed the entire forward line on his shoulders. Now there is the argument that for £4m we should have a better player, and that I agree on. If Danilo had been fit and scoring, then Dessers rotating or coming off the bench IMO we'd look at him differently. All of that said, if we can punt him in January for decent money and buy/loan someone who can hold the ball up and take more chances I'd do it in a heartbeat. Great pod fellas.

Jeb

Just finished my watch back, and maybe I was a little harsh. We did win some battles (Niko, Dujon & CB to name a few). I think I'm just really struggling with the 'long ball to no-one' tactic. It's aimless. And when you are sloppy middle to front, while also missing chances regularly that would give the team oxygen to grow confidence, it's regularly a difficult watch. Hats off to the lads for the result, always important to take points when playing poorly, especially in an environment like that. We need to get our game in order though.

Greg

Believe me it's more frustrating listening to 'dessers chat" than watching him. He has done more for padding rangers podcasts than any player I can remember. I thought it was a good result, surprising actually, improved performance but it's all a bit chaotic for me, Raskin and Barron are tenacious and do a power of work winning the ball back but neither of them are particularly good when they have it, our passing is sloppy across the team and needs improvement. You can see the way the manager wants to play but it's never going to work for Rangers in Scotland.

Tolmie

Exactly what I said but for some ever single chance he misses is a sitter, it’s tiresome

Martin Boyd

I will go with Mr McCoist rather than the podders , Dessers played well and kept their two center backs occupied all game. The chance the goalkeeper saved was a good first time shot it wasn’t an easy chance. Just much too much unnecessary criticism, if he had been crap then say it when he isn’t don’t say he has been crap. Is he the answer , hell no , does he deserve criticism, yes, but he isn’t as bad as some podders make out.

Martin Boyd

Nisbit and Shankland? Did you see the sitter the non scorer Shankland missed tonight 🤣. Both are awful.

Jamiedfa

I thought we lacked any cohesion from front to back in possession, Propper and Souttar playing hoof ball to Dessers with Raskin and Barron trying to win the ball back, then repeat.

Roddy Wylie

Enjoy the pods very much, but it’s way over the top on Dessers, it’s like he’s the only Rangers striker to miss chances. First one, he’s off btw, but getting closed down it’s not great strike and the keeper saves it, second one does well to peel off defender hits it first time on target keeper makes a good save. They are not sitters, biggest issue is we don’t create enough and there are not enough other players getting good numbers. Of course he frustrates but so did Morelos, Roofe, Itten, Miller, Boyd etc etc Ps he deserves credit for always being available unlike many others

Vanb bryceter

That's the kind of display we've been crying out for. Winning battles all over the park some nice interlinking strong running a good goal well taken and desire in spades. Dessers didn't dmuch wrong for me he did miss a couple but he scored on Sunday with that exact same chance he missed tonight. I'm putting that down to luck rather than him fluffing it. Credit where it's due he scored with a lovely finish. Propper was shite again tho
