Managing Sterling’s minutes makes sense if the 52nd minute sub on Thursday leads to another start today. Leaving him on the bench again today seems absolutely bonkers. If we drop points and Tav doesn’t play well then there’s your lightning rod.

Bit of a contradictory take from Ross re Tav. On the one hand you said the manager should be "phasing him out" then on the other you criticise the manager for doing that. Surely phasing a player out is going to mean a gradual reduction in playing time rather than just getting benched completely. I actually agree he shouldn't be playing and I don't think we have and time to waste phasing him out.
