We just don’t have any identity anymore, I cannot remember ever feeling this way towards Rangers in the past 25+ years. I can imagine what it was like when we were coming 4th but all the old yins ever tell you is “we fought like f*** for eachother, we were together, we knew it would turn around, this is different”. IMO we fired Gio & Beale for less, and Clement has been backed by enough money that it should be better than it is. I didn't expect a 100% win ratio this season, I expected transition but also expected effort and a manager who adapts and learns from experience. Clement needs to go, and go immediately.

I understand what you're saying mate, but would any other SPFL manager have dropped Jefte against Aberdeen because of "sports science"? I completely agree we've mismanaged injuries, signed injury prone players, burned players like Tav out before we should have. However I'd argue that the way Clement uses Sports Science borders on levels above apprehension. Just like his tactics, formations and ability to learn it's all way to safe and sees it different from the masses.

Saddest thing for me personally is I've already mentally checked out of this season a long time ago. We're a rudderless ship from top to bottom and I find it very difficult to be emotionally invested, not just in a team that isn't at the level required but in a club that isn't set up for success. Simply just sacking the manager won't fix this and that's what scares me the most. The people in charge of the club don't have the ability to run it. Koppen smacks of a guy that won't nor should be here long. Yet we've just given him a promotion 🙄 we're a shambles.

I don’t know if it’s sports science to blame, but getting Danilo and Igamane ready to start a game seems to be a task beyond Clement. It simply shouldn’t take this long to get players “match fit”, especially when the matches are against the dross that is the SPL .

I think Clement has been backed well enough now, there has been a lot of awful signings, but I think we should stop buying £4-5 million duds that nobody wants, not even the clubs who already have them!!. If you buy a player with that fee, he has to be a success, there's a huge down side. If you think about it some of our best signings have been for free or small transfer fees. With players at that level a player can fail and we can just move him on if it's 300-400K, but all you need is one of those players to pop big time, and we have a star on our hands, a career going upwards not stagnating or going backwards. Someone that bigger clubs than us want. This all comes down to recruitment now. Which is difficult given the market we are in Anyway, this is the first time I think Clement is not the answer, no idea who would be or would want to come. It's all a mess again

Clement is rightly taking a lot of criticism, but there are correct decisions for which managers receive no credit since the benefits are counterfactual. A player being substituted can frustrate supporters but you don’t know had he stayed on the pitch would he have broken down with injury or a tired tackle would have lead to a second yellow or a penalty. Remember Clement took flak for not hooking Jefte at half time against Dinamo Kyiv. Recall the binfire against Slavia Prague in March 2021 - Gerrard’s failure to substitute Balogun when he was on a yellow hit hard. If you remember our club’s horrendous record with injuries, going back decades, then if any club should be observant of sports science then it’s Rangers.

Rangers FC have become unrecognisable from the time I grew up our standards have fallen so far. That no team now come to Ibrox and fear us. Was never expecting us to win when I seen the starting XI today. That is where I am at the moment just past caring about this team. Matches against Spurs and that lot in the Cup Final I am not even going to watch. If the board, the management and the players don't seem to care why should I. All eyes will be on the manager, when they should be on our custodians who do not have a clue how to run a football club. A DOF with experience was needed who did we pick a head scout we aready have who has no experience as DOF, A new chairman reportedly coming in guess what he has no experience. Still no CEO after our previous CEO left in April/May. Since this board came to power and we came back to the top league we have won the total of 3 trophies. 1 league, 1 Scottish Cup and 1 League Cup. Is this the Rangers we grew up with no. Looking back at our previous history I have been looking at the excellent videos on youtube by Rangers Archives during the international break. Looking at the early 80s a board in disarray a team on the park that was not good enough. Does this sound familiar Then we were fortunate enough with David Holmes who with great leadership turned our fortunes around appointed a real leader in Graeme Souness. I may sound like l live in past glories but where we are right now as a club is right back where we were pre Holmes and Souness. How does this change for us we need a leader and visionary in the boardroom. We also need a manager who commands respect in the dressing room that won't execept second best or you won't be playing for us again. Is there a CEO with vision and leadership out there? Is there a manager out there that commands respect in the dressing room? I do not know the answer to this people like Holmes and Souness don't grow on trees. Our current custodians have the tenedency of getting the big appointments wrong. I urge the current custodians of the club to look back at history look at the appointment of Holmes find someone out there with the same attributes. Final message to the custodians of the club keep this failure going on and your going to end up with the exactly same legacy of the Whites and Desmonds across the road and we all know how despised they were by their own support.

Dessers we have talked to death about. I’m not sure Igamane will ever be anything for us I’m afraid. I was worried at the length of time it took to play him, I’m beginning to see why. I do agree that a change is needed but we need change at every level. Is Potter interested? A British manager might have a quick ramp up time.

In a rare glass half full post I think the team has to be substantially better than this. We are just dreadfully coached and structured combined with a manager who hasn’t understood the nuances of our league and talks increasingly like a mad man after matches. That said Dessers and Propper wouldn’t get a game for Johnstone Burgh!

Hes got to go but don't feel that changes anything really because our problems are systemic. True indication of how in the mud we are is seeing that 4th /5th placed Motherwell got beat and thinking thats a good result for us. Thats rank. Felt like an absolute mug at HT for going to watch that, felt like I was getting the piss ripped out of me and from folk around me + group chats etc that feeling was mutual. Its so so bad and like Andy said on Twitter its only going to get worse. 2nd half was better and we shoulda won it but those moments of "awh thats actually pretty decent" are so fleeting this season. Respect others may want to focus on individuals but the issues for me are managerial and system focused. This doesn’t work, we are slow and the manager seems to refuse to accept one man up front alone in Scotland does not work, defences are big and organised, crosses need to be pinpoint or delivered quickly or it’s ineffective. Go on about structure and set up all day which is definitely a major problem btw but we have too many players who just can’t do the simplest of things required to be even a half decent footballer….a shit midfielder or defender can just about get away with it with a better players beside them but we have a centre forward who literally has NO attributes at all….Hes not a willing runner,he can’t harass defenders,he can’t run,he can’t hold it up,he can’t lay it off,he’s not a good finisher,he complains whenever anyone has the audacity to be within a yard of him….Play him upfront himself or with 1,2 or 3 with him ,he’ll still be an awful footballer and a hider….I’ll reiterate,they’re all terrible but when the focal point of your team has a centre forward as bad as Dessers then you don’t have a chance in hell in games and the fact he’s been our “main man” for 2 seasons is absolute woeful management/recruitment…

Factor in the truly awful football we are subjected to, the same mistakes by the manager and players repeated over and over again, round pegs in square holes, no sign of improvement, absolutely shite in both boxes, totally clueless at set pieces, no youth being bloodied, etc. There are no excuses for Clement. My brother has been a huge fan of Clement but yesterday he said it looks like he's trying to get fired with his insistence on Dessers, the formation, etc.

I wondered if the Koppen promotion was a sign we had a CEO or chairman incoming, who had given the nod. I now wonder if the news coming last night was a necessary precursor to the inevitable sacking in the dugout. It's so inevitable I don't want to waste time explaining all the reasons why. My 17 year old son said during injury time 'I don't know if I want us to score. I'd rather get Clement out. I want to enjoy watching Rangers and I can't remember when I did that last'. I think that's all I need to say. I'd rather talk about who comes next. I get the caretaker argument, with caveats. 3 examples. Warnock at Aberdeen, Murty and McCall with us. Early days at Aberdeen, but all 3 got the required results next season - a new manager came in and with no baggage or emotional connection to existing players already there, radically changed the squad and mindset. But if those 3, only McCall saw the season out. And McCall almost delivered the jackpot, and the headache of 'do we keep this guy on?'. Are we willing to write the season off? And what do we do if our caretaker delivers 2 cups, takes 7 from 9 off Celtic in the league and we reach quarter finals of Europa league? Don't say it doesn't happen - look at what Clement did in his first 6 months? After we beat Hearts 5-0, I thought we were winning the league.

Another depressing day for us. A few comments about the team selection. Clement has been criticized for being slavishly loyal to Tav. He cannot then be criticized for leaving him out. It is well documented that he wanted Hagi gone in the summer, but surely letting him back into the fold is better than freezing a player out? Apropos players like Danilo who don’t have the full 90 minutes, I agree that it is better to start the and see what impact they can have. Yesterday followed a depressingly familiar pattern of a slow start giving our opponents something to cling onto. We need early goals to force a change of gameplan from our opponents.

Our hated rivals steamrolled Hearts yesterday, with only 2 Scots (both jump the dykes) and one home grown player in the lineup. Many players from outside Scotland have joined our club and bought into us heart and soul. With the Chair and CEO now seemingly sorted, the next major vacancy to fill is the Head of Academy. Clement is slated for fielding very similar line ups game after game but there isn’t much pressure on the regular starters due to the weakness of the squad - so few players outside the starting eleven who are making a forceful case to be selected. If you can improve the output of the academy then we can boost depth and competition for places.

I know the caveats re statistics, but in McCall’s time as caretaker he only picked up 1 more point than Ally did in the equivalent fixtures in the first half of the season. Also in the play off final we were well and truly dunted. Warnock’s stint at the Sheep last season, something we can view dispassionately, didn’t produce any significant uptick in their form. On the other hand, if we accept this season as a write off, then a caretaker till the end of the season would make sense, so the new manager starts with a clean slate in summer 2025.

You point out the need for an experienced DOF. I don’t think Koppen’s surprise promotion to Technical Director precludes such an appointment. If the club has made 3 wrong managerial appointments in as many years, then it needs to get the next one right - this demands that we have the necessary top level appointments in place.
