Feels like that Mick McCarty video of the journalist saying "this can't go on, can it?" And him saying "it can". It's dire stuff.

"hello, is that the Samaritans?" Tough gig guys, well done. As we sit crawling along the M77 on a bleak November Monday morning its hard to be optimistic about RFC. I could get this as a "transition season" if there were any signs of building blocks. Clement got extremely lucky that Barron has been so good, if he hasn't worked out we would be even worse than we are. I am too young to remember it but this is what it must have been like in the early 80s, with people just turning up every so often.

Steven Renton

Hi Fellas, can you please do something about the volume levels? It's not just your show but every show on H&H that has 2 or more voices on it. I listen to most shows at work driving a fairly noisy lorry with the volume on maximum and invariably one voice is blowing my eardrums out whille the other is inaudible. I get that you're not a billion dollar radio station, but surely it can't be that hard to get the voices somewhere near the same level. Thanks.

Alan Weir

Hopefully I’m wrong, but the narrative seems to be heading towards “we need a manager who knows the club” and the next thing we know the likes of McInnes is in charge. It’s lazy thinking and a strategy used by no successful club of any standing.

Simon H&H

All depends how you listen mate and via what means I find. I always try balance the sound up on the edit if I notice someone is quieter than the other etc. There genuinely will be no happy medium as it can come across find on some platforms and not others.

Kev Armstrong

I’m on the McInnes bandwagon. Knows the club and the league . Won’t take 6 months to settle. Has beaten Celtic on a third of the budget. I know he won’t be everyone’s cup of tea but we might even score from a corner again.

Chris Scott

Do you think its fair to say that in 5/10 years time we will look back at the Bennett regime as genuinely one of the most appalling efforts we have seen at the club?

Alan Weir

The transition season - which I agree would have been acceptable - was stopped in its tracks with the retention of Tavernier as club captain. It kept the personification of recent failure at the heart and soul of the club, and highlighted (before a ball was kicked this season) that our manager didn’t have the nous or bravery to try something new.

Alan Weir

Obviously I hope you’re right, Kev, but I just see McInnes as a further step on the Rangers journey to football oblivion and obscurity. A team full of competent Scots, safe and secure in second spot in the league, and like an old dinosaur in European football. We need someone overseeing recruitment who can find us an up and coming manager who is more than 30 minutes down the road, surely?

Steven Renton

Well I just listened to this one in the house on a desktop on Patreon with zero background noise and the voice levels are still wildly different.

Glyn Davies

Agreed Kev, after these horrendous displays & results i ask myslef what would Walter do? Mcciness may not be the sexiest name but I feel he'd be the closet to Walter in a sense that he would be pragmatic, could come in, settle us down, sort out the basics & make us hard to beat & build on that.....he would probably go & shop around Scotland for players who can give us a bit of identity again, & then after a few seasons & hopefuly we are back on track domestically we can look to bringing in a more imaginative manager to add some flair.....but we need to get back to basics & that starts with having people at the club who know what is needed, who know what it takes to win big & who know what it means to play for this club

Glyn Davies

Superb point Alan, I've been banging this drum since May! The rebuild should of started with Tav leaving......it may not be a great season but change was needed & for all the good Tav has done the scar tissue from all the times he's failed still remains

James McSween

Kev saying we’ve no hero’s in this squad unfortunately we haven’t even got a real captain in the squad. To many nice guys. If we want rid of Clement all us fans need to mobilise and show we want rid of him. Need to be more vocal about it before during and after games. Hopefully someone at the AGM nails it to the board and Clement.

Glyn Davies

Ok, this will be a wee bit armchair manager fantasist.......with the Jan transfer window fast approaching id start with telling the following to find new clubs, Dowel, Dessers, Propper, Matondo & Tav ASAP! all these players either offer nothing or are hindering the club for various reasons (past it, injury prone, on too high a wage). Get Shankland in immediately, Kent on a 18 month deal & use what transfer money we can muster to lure Lennon Miller.......we cam bolster the squad with youth players like Devine, Rice, Lowry & Lovelace & maybe a couple of loans from England.......will our fortunes immediately change? No, but it's a step in the right direction surely & I feel we would improve on what we sre having to endure currently

Gary Shaw

Got to laugh at the fans that call McInnes a shitebag….hes beat Celtic more times in 12 months than Gio,Beale and Clement have put together in their time as Rangers Manager…..Muscat would be my first choice but not against McInnes at all 👍

Glyn Davies

Further to my point.....removing Tav, Dowel, Matondo, Propper & Dessers would free up a hellish amount of wages & help bring the overall wage bill down a significant bit whilst also not weakining the overall playing squad if the right players where signed in January in the key areas I mentioned before

Kev Armstrong

I get the muscat shouts however my fear is it would cost too much to implement his style. Del might not play sexy football but he would get us winning again and restore a bond between the support and the club.

Steve Clark

Agreed with everything you said towards the end about where we go from here

Alan Weir

Absolutely not attempting to be smart, Kev, but what makes you think McInnes would “get us winning again”. As I stated earlier, he might secure second, but I’m not sure what makes you think he’ll get any closer to that mob or what suggests he’d be a success in Europe. I honestly picture a team of “Scottish triers”, but miles off what’s needed for real development or improvement.

David Innes

In my opinion for where we are as a club right now we need a manager who can bring stability and organisation , build a team around a core of young Scottish players and make us hard to play against. McInnes ticks all the boxes. As for challenging for the title again we need to be realistic and admit it’s now a longer term aim - the gulf in quality and resources between us and them is as big as it’s been since 2017

Kev Armstrong

That’s cool I get a lot of folk think he has a ceiling. It could turn out the he’s not THE guy but he might bring us some stability to allow us to get the ship in order. I’ve watched a good few interviews with him and listened to him talk about how he sets up his teams. Again just my opinion and everyone is entitled to have their say. I just wish there was another Gerrard appointment out there that everyone could get behind

Alan Weir

You’re talking me round!😁 I just keep remembering that two of our greatest - Greig and McCoist - who obviously knew the club and supporters well, couldn’t manage their way out of a paper bag. No argument though, what we’re doing at the moment has to be changed. Have a great day👍

Greg

If McInnes gets the job we might as well call it quits.

Jim Milne

Moyes I'm not sure of. I know he won a European trophy but his team's re dire to watch unless you go back to Everton. He's too old and not sure he has the drive. McInnes would give us Scottish identity but only because he's the best of a bad bunch. I'd be willing to go for Jesse Marsh. He plays fast attacking football and gives youth a chance. Not many options available. I'd go for Kevin Thompson & Steven Davis as interim until the summer.

Jamiedfa

Good pod as usual lads and the mood is what we all are experiencing

Jamiedfa

No chance its Moyes, it will be Mcinnes if he wants it that is

Spoon

The same snobbery that’s seen us waste millions on imported duds is what people use to ignore McInnes. With better assets decent managers produce better work, McInnes has been limited by budgets still shown he can set a team up but more importantly he can get them playing for the jersey, don’t think I can stomach another vision or project guy who doesn’t understand the Scottish game.

Bixby Snyder

I’m neither hugely for or against McInnes at the moment but do his supporters realize Killie are third bottom and just got beat by St. Johnstone? They’ve been horrendous outside of the OF games and surely that has to count when assessing him as a replacement.

Spoon

I want McInnes, my opinion is he simplifies things and get more from what we have. I see his unwillingness to come last time as quite shrewd given how Gio was utterly sold out in terms of board support and not being allowed to sign a player he wanted. I agree pretty much with everything Kev said in the pod but I would say that as a supporter who started following in the late 70s / early 80s no player since we have come back up would be someone I consider a ‘hero’. Never as impressed as others with Morelos and think Kent was a total fraud of a player so not convinced even the successful season we had produced real talent. This season I believe we have far better raw materials than we have had for some time. Jefte is promising; Dio has lost his way but showed talent, Barron and Raskin are doing fine for younger guys, where I get frustrated is with guys like Danilo, Matondo, Cortes etc millions of pounds of wage / fee generating the proverbial square root of… it has to stop. I don’t want any more settling in, I don’t want to take chances on guys who can’t stadia, I certainly don’t ever want to hear a guy can’t play as he is building furniture….i want the best local talent and team that battles. Buy local, build a solid core and add a bit of flair, stop swinging for the fence and let’s moneyball it a bit more, play the percentages. If we get another vision guy I’m done, I cannot be fed the same nonsense again after we saw it fail time after time. I’m not interested in a ‘name’ from outwith Scotland, I’m bored pretending we are buying from the taste the difference range when we are scouring the whoops shelf, let’s get a guy who coaches and develops and doesn’t have to buy a team and have all his own players. Muscat is a red herring, the top level elsewhere bears no resemblance to the Scottish league it’s all nonsense. This is an anomaly of a league and it’s time we stopped faffing about. A fancy name with those expectations will not succeed with the budget we would offer and we haven’t got another rebuild in us as a club or support. Back to basics time. A caretaker just delays the start of next season, after how often we have been told it takes time to get things changed getting someone competent asap is a priority or we write off the initial few months and are behind the 8 ball again.

Iain Shaw

If there's a reason I'd be tempted to try Muscat, it's because it might be a "now or never" roll of the dice with him, and if it pays off he could be great for us. Whereas I think McInnes may always be an option for us, now, a year from now or whenever. But the big doubt for me with Muscat is this: I wonder if we can afford the fallout if we hired Muscat and it went as spectacularly wrong the way Clement's tenure has. In the short-term, McInnes may be an uninspiring appointment, but as you say, he might just be a safer bet to bring us a reset, some stability and at the very least get us competing with Celtic again. And I do think he would rise to the challenge with bigger and better resources than he's had at Killie in particular.

Buff Richardson

John Greig won more Trophies than the last 5 mangers put together ..

Steven Harvey

Good pod lads - I honestly can’t believe how bad it’s got under this absolute clown shoe of a manager. It’s like an old game of football manager where you’d constantly be going back to your last save to try n get results! The sooner PC goes the better. Dreading our biggest ever defeat to Celtic being in the post 2 weeks on Sunday. 🤮

David Gilfillan

I really enjoyed the pod guys as always although volume levels around parts were very low and unclear .

David Kiltie

Me too, listening when out running on a noisy road and was struggling to hear Kev whilst Simon was clearly audible.
