After a tough few weeks the fixture list looks to be a bit kinder for Rangers as they welcome Dundee to Ibrox.
WIth one draw in the last ten meetings between the teams this should be a straightforward home win.

Stop excusing cheats for goodness sakes …1/ just because refs are incompetent doesnt also meant they arent cheating 2/ the threshold for cheating is not being a Celtic supporter, its simply KNOWINGLY NOT implementing the laws of the game evenly which is precisely what happened last weekend

Gregg McKee

Ridvan had a very poor day on Sunday but for the third goal he jumps and is easily getting the ball but Raskin, who has jumped also, gets a nick on the ball and it deflects it past Ridvan and into Kuhn’s path. I was in the south upper looking right down the line and it was actually very unlucky from our perspective.

John Smith

To say no official ever cheats is a fundamental failure to understand human nature and that absolute power corrupts absolutely

Gregg McKee

The difference with the non penalty award on Sunday was this decision is completely black and white, right / wrong. There’s no element of subjectivity to this decision. The VAR team have failed to implement the rules of the game - for whatever reason they only know. I have my suspicions based on the history of one of that in particular…It probably cost us an 80% of winning that game - it’s completely unacceptable and the worst decision that’s impacted us in an Old Firm game in decades

chris smith

Come on Steven. Life is full of cheating. It happens all tge time in every walk of life and every corner of business. You set the threshold for cheating far too highly. Knowingly not implementing the laws (or in this case, VAR protocols) evenly IS cheating. We can then go on to talk above motives, but in the end, motives are irrelevant. The cheating occurred no matter what the motive.

Stegz

As a support we need to stop this attitude of “that didn’t cost us the game, we should have done this or that” type attitude. These fine margins make the difference. If you listen to the BBC et al that lot are continually praised for “finding a way”. Yes, by fucking cheating. Let’s put it another way, if we had been awarded the penalty and gone on to win the cup would you hand it back? That lot get the benefit of the doubt all the time and we don’t. It can be a subtle difference but it has a big effect because VAR only overturn clear and obvious errors. If the ref is not sure about a penalty for example they get it and we don’t. If it’s not clear and obviously an error then the on field decision stands. Which means that for an identical situation they get a penalty (or a player stays on the field or is sent off) and we dont. It’s happening all the time with all kinds of decisions and it’s how that lot have managed to turn VAR (which, remember, they did not want) to their advantage.

Dinnae half go on about the penalties 😂

scott skinner

Great analysis as always, but I'm pretty sure Frank "100%" Connor says "Outside the penalty area" not "Penalty!"

Allan Swan

The VAR error was a huge mistake. In any way of life they should be fired. Stop being so supportive of them guys. Awful Finally, we need a balance Alex was always a good counter of positivity v your pessimism. We need a balance on the preview please. Sorry, Tough listen tonight

John Myles

I’m sorry Steve but do you think if the non pen was them it still would not have been given absolutely it would have that’s the difference and at least four times it’s happened to us with var that’s a pattern that our board and Rangers media should be putting pressure on because they have mainstream mhedia all sown up. I love your analysis every week but I think you’ve been listening to Barry Ferguson too much.

Steven Harrigan

I'm just not on board with the whole "the world's against us angle". For example I think the Motherwell game last night showed again how bad the level of officiating is, over anything more sinister. Good teams overcome bad referees, our biggest issue is we haven't reached that level yet. VAR hasn't improved the game for me and we're not the only side to suffer bad decisions. Has the other side really won vs us more often most recently because of Celtic agendas and some wild mindsets in fractions of their support, or because they have better players? As much as that pains us all.

James McSween

Stevie and Kev spot on again with your analysis of the previous game.

Stephen

Not much analysis of why we didn’t save any in the 2 huge games though. Also didn’t agree with the comment on Dessers being visibly upset when he gets taken off as a sign of him having a high opinion of himself. No proof of that. That could down to any number of reasons.

David Speedie

Top stuff as always lads You think a deal could be done with Dundee utilising Leon King and Bailey Rice going the other way (even on loan) for Lyall Cameron? Both aren’t going to play for us and it could work for both clubs

Spoon

Great pod as always lads. Not having the Dessers penalty chat from some. in the pod you correctly highlight Morelos wasn’t great at penalties and Dessers isn’t any better a striker of the ball than him. There are two type of penalties , the good ones that go in and then the other ones. I still don’t get the underlying assumption Desser chooses who hits them or was ultimately able to demand a penalty, it could be the captain or manager who makes the call putting it on him is just coming from the wider dislike and bullying attitude to everything he does. I also don’t buy into the cheating stuff. Not interested in it, laughed at them when they banged on about it, mocked them with their film they made, biases I accept, organised cheating no not for me. Ultimately guys for me this leaves Clement in an untenable situation. He wins the cup he can start a turnaround, he lost again and now for me at least the next game is now more or less of limited value to us. It’s now a game in isolation, some distance from any other one that would allow us to build a run against them. It won’t change much in terms of the league so what does he get from a home win, a home win for each team is the minimum we should expect so not sure it’s the statement the cup win followed by this could have been. He absolutely has to win but he has done himself out of what could have been a trophy followed up by another to really show a real change in was incoming. Kind of meh about things again, a real chance missed against a version of them I that isn’t great. The most disappointing thing in recent years remains pretty ordinary rival teams racked up tons of trophies.

Kev Armstrong

Love your opinion as always. Stats - Alfie scored 4 missed 2 pens Dessers scored 13 missed 4 pens Interesting reading.

David Kiltie

Good pod, guys. Just to clarify that Clement was boss for both the semi and the final in last season’s league cup. Had Beale still been in place I would not have been confident of beating Hearts at Hampden.

Stegz

Hi Steven. Agree they have better players but when we match or outperform them the fine margins (and margin calls) make the difference.

Gregg McKee

When was the last time a subjective game changing decision went our way instead of theirs in an old firm game?

Gareth Williams

Excellent pod again guys, great listening, thanks. I’ve been going to Ibrox for as long as I can remember, I sit in the Main Stand Rear section C but use stair D as it’s easier. I’ve sat there since 91-92 with my Dad and for the last 15 or so years my brother. I’ve lots of memories of Ibrox, Last day win V Aberdeen 90-91, pitch invasion in 1987 after winning against St Mirren ( only time I’ve ever seen a pitch invasion at Ibrox) the week after winning the league at Pittodrie. My earliest memory of Ibrox is sitting in the main stand against Motherwell and hearing the beggars had pipped Heart to the league title. I didn’t understand it at the time but it always sticks in my memory. I used to sneak down into the east enclosure for a sing song much to the annoyance of my Dad who didn’t want me in there!🤣 My favourite memories will always be with my Dad or my pals, Leeds, Marseille, Bruges, Parma x 2, Porto (Morelos scored and then I knew that was us back in the big time), Leipzig to name but a few. My favourite ever goal was a strange one. A league cup tie against HIVs around 1990’s, 2-0 up I’m sure, they dragged it back to 2-2 then Super Ally scored a bullet of a free kick and we won 4-2 in the end. Not sure why that goal stick but I just loved the excitement of that game. I’m sure we all have great memories and I could write a book on mine, but the main thing I take away from Ibrox is time with family. I take my 2 kids along with me (boy 7, girl 10) and both love going and sitting with me and their Papa as long as they have some sweets. I hope that they will continue with the family tradition of going to Ibrox that my Papa instilled in my Dad, he instilled in me and I’m trying to instill in them. Ibrox’s and Rangers future is our children, we need to make sure they continue the legacy of the greatest support in world football. WATP!

Spoon

Kev my Dessers comments were on wider opinion absolutely agree with the comment from you and Stevie. I can absolutely take the point you would expect any striker to want a pen but I won’t go as far as saying they have to hit one. Purely a personal choice for the player, coach or team either pre-arranged or based on the moment. For some, not all, this is just another validation of their Dessers Derangement Syndrome where nothing he does is right, there’s very little balance to many comments but there are some who can praise and critique in equal measure. Great discussion and pod as always.

Alan Ryder

Still the best Rangers show on the network guys. Well done. Hope big Alex is ok. I really missed his positive opinions a month or so ago when we were dug meat.
