I think it's fair to call Dowell over Rice as a conservative decision, but without Sterling it makes perfect sense to opt for a versatility player over a specialist 6 on the bench, especially when Barron is also there. It's one of those minor decisions that people only fixate on because the pressure is on.

It’s prob the fact the manager said he would be joining the first team after the Dundee game then isn’t in the squad for the next match.

Kyle Fitzpatrick

Joining the first team doesn't mean being in the match day squad every single week. Think fans being pedantic, we'll see him in the cup, and more this season but he won't be every match day squad.

Brian Fisher

Play Nsiala and again next week. There's absolutely no benefit to the club playing a soon to be out of contact unfit 36 year old over him. The league's done and the more minutes this boy gets, the more he improves.

Eddie McDonald

Kevin/Steven are you planning a Fraserburgh preview? Was on with David 6 years ago when the teams met, just curious thats all👍

Steven Harrigan

Yes, we plan to treat that game and give it our fullest attention as we would anyone else. They've earned the right to be at this stage.

Derek

Another excellent pod, thanks. Saying that the manager has to win the Europa league to keep his job is a OTT, in my opinion. You don't think they seriously bin him, if we have a strong end to the domestic season and gey through a couple of rounds in Europe? I am not suggesting that will happen, unfortunately.

Just seen Clement’s comments at the press conference- it’s getting really hard to watch him speak now.

BlueJay

Brilliant as always lads, cheers 👍 Im going for kevs 6 nil. 35/1 if anybody is interested

I’m amazed at the sense of entitlement among our ‘support’. Yes, we’re one of the top two clubs in the country, but that guarantees nothing. And if some fans do decide not to return, they’re clearly fair weather supporters, not true fans like the rest of us. Win, lose or draw, I’ll continue to support my club … I won’t be happy if we’re not performing to the expected levels, but Rangers will always be my club.

Chris McFadyen

Cant listen to that, sounds like someone has a bongo going in the background

David Clapperton

Completely agree Kev. We’ve signed far too many vanity projects. Loads of “wants” and not nearly enough “needs”. Because 1 may pay off in time doesn’t change that. The money spent on Ridvan,Dio, Lammers, Bajrami and more was nonsense when there’s been an urgent and obvious need for a quality centre half and a quality centre forward for years now. It’s like shitting your trousers and changing your hat. Yes it needs done but not straight away.

On rice it was said he’s getting promoted not that he was going to be in the 11 or 20 every week. How many have actually watched him other than the Nice game? He’s good on the ball but he’s got a lot to improve defensively and in a game you want to shut down, he’s not the type of guy you want on just yet. As Stevie pointed out the Nice game showed his flaws. Also with Clement being on a shaky peg, he won’t come out and say the protest as a reason as it’s blaming fans, but would you bring on a young guy with flaws when the fans are or about to walk out? Igamane wasn’t scouted off the back of scouting someone else. We used our database and found him then we scouted, Koppen has been open about this and said on the club website and an interview with the Rangers review. Unfortunately the squad and budget was shafted by allowing Beale to run wild and while we would have loved another experienced striker in, we tried to offload Dessers to do that and he refused to go but that doesn’t mean we don’t strike when we have a chance to get a guy like Igamane as if we waited someone else would have took him and we wouldn’t afford him. On Patrick Stewart’s comments, I think it’s very similar to the great Mr Holmes and his handling of the unrest with Jock Wallace. He’s seen the club is a shambles behind the scenes and Clement has had to plaster over the cracks and work with a hand tied behind his back. However he’s got him sacked in his head but won’t pull the trigger until the pieces are in place so a new manager to come in and doesn’t have to deal with it.

Stephen

Not sure I agree with the thought that we should have signed an experienced striker instead of Igamane to qualify for the champions league. We lost 2-0 at home to the team bottom of the Europa league. Dont even think Haaland would have got us through that one after that defensive performance! You are always going get project players if you are reduced the average age of the squad. No good ,young, experienced players are coming to play in Scotland. Guys like Dessers , Lammers and Danilo had all played at a high level before and look how that turned out.

John Palmer

I think this is the perfect time to bring in Shankland to replace Dessers and I'll tell you for why: Shankland is tried and tested in this League as we all know. His form might not be great this Season but that could be down to him currently playing in a poor Hearts Team and his thoughts have moved back onto a Move this Jan or July. He'd be a cheap option for us to get while Clements tenure is decided as his Jakette is defo hinging oan a Shoogley Peg. Shankland also fills the Scottish/Home grown player quota. He has International experience for Club and Country, and Scored for both. I think Rangers sign him on a 2yr contract now so that if the new Gaffer doesn't fancy him then we're not lumbered with an over paid Player from overseas who cost us Millions, only to end up sitting on the bench festering.
