As frustrating as Dessers can be I still love the big guy, I don't think I've wanted a player to succeed more than I do with him. The lone striker role is not for him though.

Brett

Hope we see Cameron coming in now Dowell is away. Glad we are giving youngsters a chance but think we need more depth

Charlie Nicolson

Have you considered that your wife's elbowing might not be accidental?

Kenny Herdman

Never heard this version of Learning to Fly, lovely stuff 😀

Graeme Guthrie

Clement has been a bit clever bringing VAR into. The SFA will need to pick a side, Ref or VAR, and thus undermine the other side.

Vanb bryceter

Ah big Cyriel ya darling. I love his attitude. I'm not comparing him at all but some of us remember a young Mccoist getting it tight and then becoming the legend that he is. The treatment Dessers gets now after an atrocious start is frankly ridiculous. All his failings have been highlighted and naseum but he is worth keeping imo unless we get our money back on him

Alastair McGeoch

The sending off is inexplicable. It’s not even clear cut Diomande attempted to slap him for me as he was pushed in the chest (for the second time by the same player) when off balance. Rangers can and should drive a bus through any shenanigans with the appeal, Holt pushes Dio twice - could argue a yellow card for each so should have gone. Gallagher runs 20 yards to push Raskin twice for no reason so should have seen a second yellow. The question for me is, if it was purely incompetence, all teams would experience it every week. One team appears to never be impacted by it whilst we seem to be in almost every game we play….

David Baillie

Great comments with regard to the boo boys. I wish they would give it a bye. It’s embarrassing and can’t possibly help motivate any player. If you are going to boo Rangers players coming on to the field stay in the house.

Scott Watson

I thought the same - surely a natural motion to bring your arm forward when being pushed backward

Graham Roy

That is a point being missed Gallagher should have been booked! I’m glad we haven’t came out with same statement this morning but hopefully we mention at every press conference. Every player needs to mention it as well and keep a discussion in the media

Alastair McGeoch

One thing for sure, Willie Collums weekly X Files spin off “explaining the inexplicable” will be binned this summer just like the compliance officer was quietly binned when Morelos left Rangers (I jest…)

David Innes

I don’t think there’s any reason why Dessers and Igamane can’t both start most games, hope to see it again on Thursday

Graham Roy

I’m in agreement even against that lot it could work as igamane likes to come deep for the ball. It also forces defenders to keep the line or go with the man! Just not sure about bajrami though

WB Campbell

Glad to see the Dowell out the door..just another roadblock for younger players getting game time. We need to get something out the season..if it’s finding out whether our young players are capable of 1st levels and pushing on then at least that’s something. Lovelace Rice Nsiala Curtis Fernandez. These guys should be given game time over players who won’t be hear next season.. I know Lovelace out of contract but if given a chance and takes it could sign new deal.

Jim McCutcheon

Thanks David totally agree with your opinions great H&H pod as always 👍

Jordan McKay

Compare Dessers to Cantwell. One doesn’t have the talent to be consistently good but has an outstanding mentality, while one has buckets of talent but doesn’t have the mentality to be consistently good. If we absolutely had to have one of them around the club, I know who it would be.

Derek Robertson

The abuse Dessers get ls is a disgrace but unfortunately not surprising , you just need to look at the abuse Tav gets and Goldson got before him

Hendi

The way Dessers has been treated by our fanbase is embarassing. Those who have booed him are a disgrace. The podders that have repeatedly labelled him a "shitebag" and those who have justified the abuse are no better.

Hendi

Pity sportscene' very own biomechanics expert wasn't available last night to offer his insight on the natural motion of your arms when pushed back.

Billy Forrester

Some of our fans just love to have someone to vent, hate and repeatedly tell us all they are not good enough for Rangers. It’s been Goldson, Tav, Dessers for ever and Butland recently, it is annoying and boring. Players have bad spells and have limitations but they are Rangers players and we need to support them, the rest of Scotland hates us so we certainly don’t need our fans abusing our own too. We are so fucking entitled nowadays

stephen

I've watched the sending off again and I don't know if anyone else notices just how incensed Walsh seems to be?? We talk about players losing their heads and ultimately making bad decisions that lead to consequences for them and their team. The issue here is why has Walsh lost his cool, it's clearly affected his decision making to the point where he's watched back his error and he's still carried on in his fools errand. The SFA have to start introducing consequences to these appalling officiating standards or it will get even worse.

Robbie McCarroll

Still think it’s a pen although Ref watch panel was unanimous bar the host. I think it’s careless if the defender faces the ball he can avoid the handball so for me still a pen. Makes the next few handballs interesting as we have seen Raskin and Souttar get punished for less !

Derek Malaney

Dessers drives me mad, but booking out players is just not on.

G Calder

I was disgusted when I heard the booing by the dicks at the Aberdeen game .. I cheered a bit louder when he came on . BTW if Dessers scored every chance he got he would be worth 40 m not the 4 m we paid for him. A few players have mentioned it - they are obv scunnered by it / Leon said in an interview the players thought it was coming from the Union Bears - it 100% wasn’t. CD9 seems a lovely human being & a decent enough striker with a FANTASTIC attitude.

Simon Botterill

Dowell should be the lessons learnt case study. Talented enough football, complete wrong character to play in Scotland for Rangers. Could not be less suited and how he gets recruited shows a lot of people are just in the wrong job

Hendi

The UB have backed him how the rest of the stadium should have tbf to them.

8luenose1872

Walsh sent him off for having a go at him for not protecting him during the game plain and simple imo. He didnt like Dio pointing out his failings so was teaching him a lesson, thats why he should never be a ref on top of the fact he clearly doesn't like us and cant referee us fairly because of it.

Martin Boyd

Well said Billy. Entitled is the word for it which is surprising because many fans are not old enough to have been watching when we ruled the roost. Love big Cyriel great attitude and certainly not the worst striker I have seen at Ibrox .

James Anderson

Is this the referee who refused to give McGreagor a second yellow at the last old firm game?

Dougie Evans

Walsh also went sprinting over as if to book Middleton for shouting at the linesman only to realise he’d have to send him off so bottled it.

Gordon Millar

I understand the managers comments on the team growing together and finding solutions but as Martin has mentioned in the past, we badly need physicality in key positions, Centre Half and a central midfielder who is 6ft+ and can protect our defence.....until this happens we will be seen as soft by most of this league......who may not be wrong!

Graham Jones

It was Wilson as well. Michael Beale didn’t buy Rabbi Matondo. While you talk about him signing Dowell, he also signed Butland, who until recently was commanding a price of about £15m. He also signed Raskin as well, so we can;t throw everything at him. That was the clubs fault in asking him to take on the responsibility while they failed to find a replacement for Wilson for almost a year. That job is simply not a managers anymore, and the board hadn’t a clue because they didn’t know how to run a football club. Some would rogue they still don’t, so they brought in others who they hope do know how it operates. Certainly Koppen’s recruitment has been good, when you look at the budget given to work with, and the strategy is right, which was the doing of Clement and Koppen together.
