Very interesting update, it looks like Koppen will be a very busy man again this summer. January could well end up loan to buy window for us and teams like us from now on which is a sensible thing to do. Katic for the away games and Nsiala home games until the summer 😂

John Johnston

Katic would be a decent short term signing, he knows the club and should not have any probs settling in. Hagi is a strange one, no brainer if the money is right but the money could be used towards bringing in a couple of decent young players

James Anderson

Tierney £25m five years ago?? I think Jefty has huge potential... We must start to sell for the players true value...

Colin Wieland

We can't hang our hat on Souttar David. I always felt he was a bit of a bomb scare but fair play to him his form really picked up. And then what happened is what will always happen because it always has. He will break down and be out for weeks. If he still a Rangers player next season, he simply will not be available for the majority of it. We need two first choice CBs and Souttar is not reliable enough to be one of them.

Alan Weir

It would be a “no” from me regarding Hagi. In his game time with Rangers he has rarely imposed his personality on the SPL jobbers, never mind games against ‘that mob’. We need to use money on a dominating midfielder who can boss a game in a way that McGregor, O’Riley and even a diddy like Brown were able to, rather than a “moments player” who flits in and out of games. Can you really see a Rangers team with Hagi a permanent fixture winning the league?

Alan Weir

Immediate hee-bee-gee-bees when I hear Kent or Morelos mentioned for a return. Katic is in the same boat: wasn’t good enough then and I haven’t heard or seen any evidence to suggest he’s better now.

Graham Roy

Jefte going to Chelsea is decent for all parties…if we get a good sell on then we will get something back!

Alan Weir

Sounds good, Colin, but I’m not convinced we have the money for “two first choice CBs”. He’s not ideal - our very existence at the moment could be defined as “not ideal” - but Souttar, I think, is where we are as a club. He can do a job, when fit, in a team that needs improvement almost from 1-11. Maybe tough to face, but Souttar is 2025 Rangers class.

Doug

Yes. When we won the league in 2021 Hagi was second in the team for assists behind only Tavernier. Ahead of Kent, Barisic, Morelos and over double that of Aribo. He also contributed 8 Goals, the second most of any midfielder. Of the 9 League Assists, 7 were against the 'jobber' sides in the bottom half of the league. He is one of the few who's been able to unlock those tight defences as he's got a vision other players don't. It's no coincidence that our form improved upon him returning to the squad and that despite missing the first third of the season is already third best for assists. I don't disagree that our midfield could potentially use more experience and domination... but not at the expense of Hagi, whom I feel fills a different role. For me the only question is if the money is right.

Alan Weir

Excellent response, Doug. I hope you’re right and Hagi pulling the strings in a dominant win at Parkhead isn’t too far away👍

David Watson

No appeal result today re Diomande? Was expecting that to be the headline.

Ryan Stewart

Id be surprised if we went for another CB in this window. Watched the Rangers Review yesterday and apparently Souttar isn’t too far away. You’ve then got Propper, Balogun, Nsiala and then we’ve just brought in Fernandes. Would seem pretty pointless getting Fernandes in with a view to buying him and then immediately blocking any path he has to game time

Graham Jones

The manager played a pivotal role in the decision to identify younger players in the summer, so credit where it;’s due. He has a vision for the club, and the next part was the recent strategy change regarding the development pathway of B team players. He was instrumental in that decision, so it’s obvious that now he’s not dealing with that lot in the boardroom, he is being listened to, finally. He gets a lot of shit from some quarters, and I feel there are a lot of comments about him through ignorance. The working conditions he’s endured would’ve made any other tip class manager walk away from us. We were a basket case in the summer, but he stuck with the vision for the long term and it’s beginning to show why he took that decision. Koppen deserves credit, but those decisions were taken in tandem with the manager.

David Mackie

Re the CB position I think if we are Katic would be a short trm fix but can't be someone we are looking at long term. On that same subject neither is Souttar. Yes JS has shown a upturn in form this season BUT he is completely unreliable in terms of injury he has been out more than in during his time at Ibrox and was the exact same at Hearts. Therefore it is stupid to try and build a defence where he is a starter. If he was kept as a back up then fair enough but we have to be looking at recruiting two reliable CB who are both first choice in the summer

Darren Arrol

Need to take advantage of the opportunity to bleed youngsters into the side we know we’re we are finishing this season so play Fernandes and nsiala give them game time and see we’re both of them are going into the summer.

QB_72

I'd take N K back short term, maybe he has improved with age, like you say David he is not a long term solution but possibly could do us a turn for now to as defence is a tad injury prone and still rather heart in mouth. It's been that long since I watched him play, can be head a ball out? I know he can head one in so he should be able to head one out but doesn't always work like that tho funnily enough.
