As February begins it's a return to league business and a visit of Ross County to Ibrox.

Games vs County have been full of goals for us this season and we will be hoping the trend continues this weekend.

Good discussion, guys. Agree regards the number 10 position. Everyone we've played there has seemed quite passive particularly in defensive transition. Is it possible that the manager is coaching the number 10 to stay high and only engage when the ball is in front of them or directly in their area? For me, when we lose the ball the number 10 should be dropping into midfield making it a 3 which would stop is getting over run in there.

Steven Harrigan

Yes, I do feel we can be played though, or give opposition sides too much space in the midfield at times.

John leitch

Stick with CD9 we won’t get better for the money we have Continuaty at the moment Goalscorers are hard to come back Danilo has fitness issues

John leitch

Bajrami has been very disappointing

John leitch

A striker at the level we can pay at the moment will miss as many as they score

Bob MacCallum

Can't believe nonsense I've heard in various places since Thursday that Tav should play in central defence from now on. USG's disallowed goal came about when Tav missed the header and the striker behind him poked it in. Souttar and Nsialo should be our first choice pairing for the rest of the season.

Bob MacCallum

It's not about the millions of chances Dessers misses. It's all the other things he can't do that a proper striker has to be able to do. Compare with Igamane.

John leitch

There are a lot of things he does well He is a confidence player Look at his two recent goals His numbers are good You will struggle to get better for the money we have

John leitch

It seems this season it’s Let’s pick on Dessers time It was Tav for a while and Butland We ain’t gonna get the finished article for the market we are in

Chris Graham 🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Steven bringing up our passing is 100% correct For that’s such a coachable drilled component that is missing from our 11 our ball retention and use of the ball at times is diabolical it really hurts us as a side when we are up and winning in the game or trying to have cultured Controlled moments within the game, we are in such a rush to get the ball back to our opponents It needs addressed

Scott Stewart

Tavs best attribute ain’t defending or heading the ball both you need to play Cb for us! His deliveries and set pieces added to his drive forward are what tav is about! Never a Cb. Don’t care what’s written or said. He’s still our best Rb option even Although he’s over his peak.

Scott Stewart

I was hard on dessers but he is defo way better that I first thought he was…. Souness esk on super Ally! Having said that ,I’d still sell him. As he won’t be there next season anyways , it’s Best cashing in whenever we can. As for butland, he’s had a terrible 9-10 months. He had a few clangers with pass back last season , furthermore he’s been howling since the cup final last year. He Struggles with shots close to his body and looks vulnerable On occasion with pass backs and corners . It’s reaching the stage that Gers Could Honestly make a dvd with the sheer amount of howlers he’s had. He’s a Great pro, Talks the talk but he’s sometimes struggling to walk the walk! Particularly Since March last year , he the opposite to dessers for me. He’s not as good as I first thought !

Ryan McMillan

I don’t think he should really be playing CB, however, I would be more open to in games where there isn’t a lot of defending to do & we need good distribution from the back. As for the goal, he got pushed in the back, that’s why he missed it. I’ve seen Souttar, Balogun & Propper miss headers that have lead to goals, but alas only Tav’s mistakes seem to define him.

craig drummond

Great pod again lads. I think the new boy will play at centre half with propper. Perfect game to get him started. Orange anthem jackets are now on sale 👌🏻

Douglas Innes

Great pod as per .... on the Lyall Cameron signing/non signing , is it just me but why would Rangers sign Cameron for probably double what he'll cost in a development fee ?? If we are due Dundee £500,000 come 1st of June what would it take to get him in before Tuesday ? I'd think it would probably be closer to £ 1million as Dundee might see holding onto Cameron in the same way we hold onto Dessers , that extra £400,000 it might take is £23,500 per week it just doesn't seem good " value for money " in the short term ........ £50 grand players don't really exist , in a sense that it isn't the norm you pick them up every January window just because their contract expires in 4-5 months

Rickie Clark

If the board don't let Nils Koppen bring players in, there's absolutely no point in him being in his current role. Whether that's in January, it will be dependant on what's available.

Scott Watson

I've defended Dessers a lot because *some* of the criticism he's faced has been ridiculous and some has been downright shameful. Like any player (and certainly any player we're getting) he has strengths and limitations. We've played to his limitations and limited his strengths and his record is still very decent despite that Despite that, if we get a meaningful offer, we have to sell. Kev makes this point all the time - we have to get the idea in our head that selling when we don't want to is the right time. We've cost ourselves hugely with Morelos, Kent, Butland, Barisic in recent seasons and we need to stop thinking we can predict the future and get even more if we just wait a bit. We need to start getting into the mindset that waiting for more money/more success also means delaying getting the next recruits in and delays improvement on the pitch

Scott Stewart

Agree on all of the above. I never boo a player or manager no matter how bad it gets! The treatment of tav and dessers has been shocking. ! Tav has been loyal and true to rangers and likewise but the abuse he took pre Xmas was a disgrace. Ive never rated dessers but his goal return is exceptional. And it appears the managers defo been playing him incorrectly. He’s best played in a two . And igamane is best in the hole behind him with bajami out left. I will criticise but never boo or publicly confront. That for me is out of order !

Ryan McMillan

It won’t be as much. Size of club matters as well, the sheep are bigger than Dundee, that’s why Barron cost more. Also if they know the player is signing a bosman, it’s better to take the money now than pay a player whose head is gone.

Scott Watson

Thank you very much gentlemen, good discussion I get the nature of the question about whether we sign additional players whilst Clement's future still is still very much up for debate but I think we have to reverse our thinking as a club. Don't bring in players that suit the manager, bring in managers that suit the players (and over time, bring in players that are consistent to a way of playing) Koppen has to be trusted to do that job regardless of who the manager is (and replaced if he doesn't do it effectively) Stevie makes an interesting point on trying out the young(ish) prospects whilst we don't have much to play for and I think that makes sense to a point but if we spot another Igamane, we should go and get him. Koppen has spoken about the academy being important to our future strategy and Clement has talked about building depth with what we've got because we don't have a choice. Talk is cheap but we have seen signs of that over the last few weeks. Injuries have clearly been a factor in that so we'll find out over the next weeks and months if that's a blip or a sign of meaningful change I don't particularly think the boost of getting direct entry to the last 16 will move the dial much. Some of the players we've shipped out on loan are still on the books beyond the end of the season and probably need a more permanent exit before we've got headroom to bring in more

Mark Boyd

Goalie has never been what he was made out to be and for a guy of his age and wage that’s the issue. Bajrami hasn’t worked. Shame the club never sorted the Hagi contractual issue before we spunked a fee and salary on a lesser option we could have used elsewhere. Regards dessers, if you offer me him or Danilo I take the cash for Danilo. Great pod

Hendi

Cannae slaughter Dessers this week, so need to find a new whipping boy..... step forward Bajrami!

Douglas Innes

Unless Dundee see Cameron having a vital part in League placings and Scottish cup all bringing in money on the way we would with keeping Dessers in regards the Europa lge

Hendi

1. Because I don't want a journo using my social media to undertake an exercise in offence archaeology. 2. Because I don't sound like a ned in writing. 3. Because I wouldn't have enough to say to fill a pod.

Hendi

He's been OK, expected him to create more and score more. He's been more disciplined in big games than I expected. Don't think he played poorly on Thursday night either, thought he found himself in decent spaces and played some nice 1-2s at times. However, as per usual no middle ground is accepted. He's being annointed as the next scapegoat by a section of the support.

Ryan McMillan

Well I don’t partake in either the hyperbole, nor the whipping boy, mentality in our support. I take each player/situation as it comes & when you sign an internationalist at that money, you need better. His goal & assist return isn’t high enough for the lack of ground he covers. Cerny can be lazy, but he’s a gamechanger, so it levels out. I even tried to give him an out with Clement’s issues with playing a 10, but to say that anyone we criticise is a “whipping boy” is just nonsense.
