I work in a collectibles business in the US, primarily distributing trading cards to mass retailers. The 49ers are widely regarded as one of the best-run clubs in the NFL.

Jamie Gilchrist

Kudos to the recent headline writers! 👏🏻

Scott Stewart

Not sure about losing our tradition with foreign owners. But it’s either that or the football abyss for decades, lesser of the two evils. And possibly a good thing given the bowling club mentality

Luke

Buy us!!

Jason Allan

If club1872 sell their share holding I hope the money is reimbursed to “contributors”, as I did pay in monthly until their lack of professionalism made me stop paying in. That’s members money not for them to pocket, again silence from them as ever.

Jamiedfa

Nice Arctic Monkeys song check👍

Haining84

How can they sell and how would they reimburse? It would be impossible to work out who was owed what.

Andrew Mathieson

Given the realities of ffp this will not be a rerun of the Souness revolution. King, Park, Bennett etc were able to restore us to relevance but not they lacked the wealth and influence to restore us at the institutional level to undo the damage done by Murray, Whyte and the spivs. The 49ers group have the influence, cash and clout to make us the most powerful sporting institution in Scotland. What we will have to make peace with is that the institution they build will not necessarily look and feel like the one we knew. This will not be pure restoration it will be adaptation.

Scott Watson

They exist to buy shares, I would have thought their constitution forbids selling them, certainly to private enterprise

chris smith

Perhaps the real game-changer in the 49ers deal (potentially) will be that Rangers will be run by serious financially-minded people who have made a significant investment in the business and will no longer take the crap and outright cheating from refs/SFA etc., ‘on the chin’. They would be competing for serious money with that other lot re: Champs League as the only realistic way to see a return on their investment. This shit just got serious.

Emma tait

The two davids next Springfield episode should be when the germans buy the nuclear plant 👀 wee bit of satire

David Innes

I think we need to be cautious talking about a massive cash injection at this stage. In the first instance their cash will only be going into the pockets of the shareholders that are selling up.

Scott Watson

There will never be a massive cash injection FFP means you couldn't spend it even if they felt like it The most there will be is clearing out debt to smooth out cash flow - this can still have a material impact in transfer/wage spend by making sure we actually have the money to hit our FFP cap, but it's going to be at the same level as recent seasons Vast infrastructure investment to increase future revenue is theoretically possible but I'll eat my hat if that comes to pass - there are simply better ways of making money when you are a profit seeking enterprise

David Innes

At the very least we can expect there to be a significant increase in sponsorship revenue (some of which will not be palatable to many fans) but it would help with FFP. I agree that major infrastructure investment is unlikely

Ronnie Gallacher

If this pans out, and it seems more likely every day that passes since the story broke, how long do you think it’ll take before the moronic and bipolar element of our support are complaining, not long I expect. For the rest of us we know this is not a quick fix, is a long term project however hoping it will provide an initial cash injection to allow us to improve the quality of the first 11 in the summer and make us more competitive next season and with a better than reasonable chance of winning the league. All in all, this has to be positive.

Rose Mcloughlin

Thanks guys this was a great report...I have been in that state of apathy you mentioned which is not like me..but my mood didnt change when this 49ers talk appeared...just thought with our luck it wont happen...but now I am feeling better about it..even if it falls through it shows the rest of the world investors we did look a interesting bet...will still be there on saturday as you said want to catch up with my friends around us..a big part of my Rangers family....and the euro games coming up...we go on again.

iain riach

If the SF49 is looking likely should we delay any immediate decision on a sporting director? I’m thinking we could have a bigger pool to choose from with the backing of a major investor/owner.
