Top tune - love the Sophe Ellis Bexter cover too

Heart and Hand

They released a promo video at the time which had musicians discussing their first time. Terry Hall had the best line: ‘she liked the Bay City Rollers, which put me off a bit…but not enough’ 😀

Appreciate the help David 💙❤️

Man what I’d give to be able to give my mum a Mother’s Day gift this year.

Graham Roy

I’d sell Nico in the summer would be looking for over £15 million plus sell on which might be high. We should try and start demanding decent fees and then bring in someone else. Bear in mind a decent season next year and Diomonde could be next to leave so personally would rather we move 1 on from middle each season.

BigFergie 058

i have rejoined the patreon pod..top class

Graham Roy

We need to start operating like proper football clubs and plan ahead. My fear if we hold onto Nico and he has a good season along with Dio and Barron we lose our midfield next year.

Stephen

Yeah. That sounds good. Sell him for £15million buy someone a couple of years younger for £4 million and start the process again. Having Diomande and Barron in midfield already means that area is still reasonably strong. Selling Igamane now would be harder to deal with as we can’t rely on Dessers and Danilo to step up and replace him. Good problem to have for once.

Jim McCutcheon

Thanks David & Adam, great pod as always 👍 👏

Graham Roy

100% for Ridvan I wouldn’t be against holding onto Jefte for 1 more year but if decent money wouldn’t be upset if he left. I would consider penrice for hearts as a possibility for left back.

Andy

I think it’s a bit of a catch 22 this player trading model for me in the sense of, it’s a necessity for us to sell in this day and age of football where we are in the pecking order. Yet on the other hand I don’t like the idea that we have to sell every single player that does well for us as they are in our prime. I don’t think that’s sustainable for success if we are selling 4/5 key players every summer because they are doing well and then hoping we get the recruitment bang on in replacing them. For building a winning culture I think it’s more about keeping a core of good players like Raskin and build around them. Certain players need to be the exception to the player trading model rule ! Great show as always !

Heart and Hand

In a couple of years you are right. But because we made such a howling arse of it and the model doesn’t exist yet, in the short-term we need to sell because we have so many positions that we need upgrades in. So if we can bring in 15-20m for a player and reinvest it, we have to just now. Once we get into a proper model we can sell one a year at our discretion.

Raskul

Have you been given the nod to butter us up with regards to losing Raskin in the summer? I wish so many of our fans weren't so gung ho on this trading model thing. I get the league we play in is utter garbage and it drives players away but it's heartbreaking to lose quality players at the peak, and continually replace them with dross. Scunnered by it, tbh.

Hendi

Have we lost any players at their peak? Our issue has been not moving them on at the right time.

Heart and Hand

No mate, club categorically do not discuss transfers in or out, ever. Also, the club don’t butter up fans. They do whatever they do and expect you to accept it 😀

Raskul

Of course, no, I mean the fans expectation of it. The ideology that we are expected to bring in prospects, fatten them up and punt them.

Heart and Hand

Hendi - only one I can think of is Bassey and maybe Patterson. Aribo wanted to go, as did Kamara. Everyone else ran down their contract I think?

Heart and Hand

You nailed the problem - bringing in dross. Selling players on for 15-20m and replacing them with guys costing 7/8m is what we should be doing. However, as we let everyone leave for sod all and spunked the cash on average players, that’s why it’s been bad.

Hendi

Aye Bassey and Paterson sold at the right time, based on potential, rather than peak. Missed the chance to punt Morelos, Kent, Borna even Butland if there was interest there in the summer.

Andrew Meldrum

The player I keep thinking about when it comes to Raskin leaving is the current manager. In Walters last season, Barry was 18, and couldn't get in the team ahead of Thern, McCall, Ian Ferguson etc etc. Dick came in and built his midfield around Gio and the untested 19 year old. Now, we keep being told Rice is the real deal. Is he going to get Raskin out of the team? No. Is Raskin currently at peak value? Unless he signs a new 4 year deal, yes he is. So if someone comes in offering £15m on the back of 6 good months, take it. It shows incoming players turn them into international players and get them to the Prem. It creates space in the team for Rice, if he is good enough. And it gives us the cash to sign another Diomande, Cortes, Raskin, Igamane and Ridvan (if I have my maths right, I think thats about £15m).

James Anderson

Hopefully the 49ers will establish a more professional approach to selling players.... No more selling players on the cheap The other lot seem to be able to sell average players for funny money

Christopher Ferguson

As much as I’d like to keep the likes of Raskin & Igamane, if we receive a decent offer for either I think we need to sell this summer. Maybe I’m thinking too much into it, but being able to show any potential incoming players that there is a pathway to an EPL team through us is huge in being able to attract the right calibre of player.

£25 in for Wee Walter 💙💙
