We were lucky on Saturday Relying on Tav and Lawrence to pull rabbits out of the hat is not a tactical plan. We were a complete shambles.

George Harrison

I’m in early enough to watch the keepers in the warmup at every home game … Butland’s kicking is always excellent, so clearly it’s the pressure and lack of confidence that’s affecting him. I don’t remember his kicking being an issue at the start of his Rangers career, in fact everyone was of the opinion that his kicking was much better than McGregor.

George Harrison

We were a complete shambles, and Tav has to share the blame for that. Several times he was way out of position, for example when Tiffany missed the sitter from 6 yards Tav was 50 yards upfield. And as much as Tav’s goal was fantastic, he’s one of the reasons for us being 3-1 down in the first place. Look at his defending in the last few minutes when he allows the ball to go past him towards Butland, rather than clearing it … but for Butland’s block it would have been 4-4, and nobody would have been singing his praises. A typical Tav performance … moments of brilliance, combined with some dreadful defending.

John Palmer

Every player was a disgrace yesterday but none more so than Yilmaz, Diomande and Butland. They were just awful. Rangers only came into the game with 25 mins to go where they actually woke up to what was facing them at full time. I want to mention re the Muslim players stopping for a quick bite. This is part of our game and needs to be respected. This that were booing, need to give themselves a shake an don't represent me as a Rangers Supporter. As for Barry trying to utilise the players better, it's clear he doesn't have a choice

Scott Watson

Being 50 yards up the pitch isn't a defensive lapse - it's a tactical instruction and sometimes you pay the price for it but that's on the manager and not the player Letting a ball drop behind you and a striker in on goal definitely is a defensive lapse, honking

Scott Watson

What will we talk about when Dessers moves on? 😂 I think we're turning ourselves a bit neurotic about our expectations of how many chances a striker needs to score a goal. I'm not sure Morelos was any more clinical than Dessers - he was famously poor when through one on one, not a particularly clean striker of the ball and lacked composure when he had time to think about it (he obviously had other strengths Dessers doesn't have) The only really clinical strikers we've had in recent times were Colak, who we chased, and Defoe, who was always second choice. Beyond that, you're going back to maybe Jelavic? What do all three of those have in common? Dessers worst season is better than their best season in terms of goals Don't get me wrong, if we can move him on for a few million in the summer and get back most of our fee, I think there's no choice but to take it Something I thought was maybe overlooked among all the focused on missed chances was how well Igamane and Dessers were linking up - they must have combined for 4/5 chances in that game. I don't think we're getting the best out of Igamane by playing him there but it's encouraging to see that side of his game too

Scott Watson

I think we all need to call out this behaviour Booing players during a game is not for me at the best of times Booing players for stopping to take on energy and nutrients for the rest of the game is wild Booing players for honouring their beliefs in a low-key, unobtrusive way is despicable It doesn't particularly bode well for our chances of behaving when UEFA are watching

Kev Armstrong

In the interest of fairness. I have heard from a few folk at the game who said they didn’t know the reason for the stoppage. I had no idea what was happening till sky told us.

Johnnie Mitchell

Well said. I watched on tv so realised what the stoppage was for fairly quickly. I thought it was the Dundee fans doing all the booing tbh. Well played Iain for raising the subject and explaining your point very well.

Scott Watson

I'm not sure that seems especially likely. In the era of VAR, we get stoppages all the time, how often do they get bood? Just because you don't know why it's happening? Seems a stretch The benefit of the doubt is a well intentioned thing, but a lot of dark behaviour can hide under it. For a perfect example of this, look no further than the awkward wording of "the banner" - it's not coincidence that it was hard to understand. Confusion and ambiguity are used to provide a way to exploit that benefit of the doubt I certainly hope I am wrong

Roddy Wylie

Dessers, Dessers!!!! Sorry boys, I do laugh at the over analysis of Dessers and not of anyone else. The bad news for us all is that he creates probably 40% of his own chances and yep misses quite a few. Whoever our new striker will be, better have some return rate, I’ve a feeling we’re all going to be disappointed, hope I’m wrong

Tamus

Novo ffs - ten times the finisher dessers is.

Martin Sutherland

Unpopular opinion, I’d be getting Danilo more involved. He came on Saturday a d was involved in the 2nd and 3rd goal with his hold up. Won’t be able to move him without a sustained run in the side anyway.

Scott Watson

I think that's an excellent point We may well get in a new striker that misses fewer chances, but doesn't get as many chances - so the overall goal output may be much the same That might make us feel better (or less frustrated) because the chances/goals ratio is better even if it doesn't really impact the scoreline most of the time

Jamiedfa

Judith Chalmers😂, great pod!

Granters

I expected to have seen more of him in the starting 11 by now. He’s been ‘fit’ for a wee while now, or certainly fit enough to be on the bench. We need to be seeing him playing a lot more. He was brought in to be the main man up front but currently seems to be 3rd choice. Whatever he’s showing or not showing in training, we either need to see more of him or we need to cut our losses on him this summer. We won’t get our money back but he’s yet another player on too big a wage for the contribution he’s making.

Granters

The game summed up our season. We’re going to end up in the bizarre scenario where we’ll have taken at least 50% of the league points off Celtic in the Old Firms games but nowhere near a title challenge at any point this season. That’s just mental to think about. Winning 2 of the first 3 OFs should have you in a strong title winning position but it’s totally down to the fact we’ve too many players who just don’t bring their A-game to these games against the ‘jobbers’. For whatever reason that is - focus, application, whatever. This team likes being the underdog but doesn’t respond well at all to games they’re expected to win easily.

Simon Lewandowski

can I ask why you wouldn't want someone like Murray playing with us? you call him a jobber but he also scores lots of goals against all the other jobbers which if we are being honest is something many of our players struggle to do. I'm not shouting for us to sign him but maybe that's one of our many issues we always seen to talk down Premier league strikers

Roddy Wylie

Agreed and do we forget how many times Alfie let us down with his discipline?

Andy Forgrieve

Great point. Also if you ever watch the RTV videos from training they always show the keepers for a few minutes and his passing is prime Pirlo :)
