I'll tell you one thing that does my fucking head in. Why is our right back showing up on the left wing to take a long throw in? We ain't forest green rovers ffs. Are we practicing long throws? If we are then why. I think it's time a word was given in his ear. We are Rangers, we need players contributing as equals, not some guy running about like he's six feet tall playing eight year olds.

Rona Bluebell

“auld habit of being pish” 🤣

Scott Macrae

All teams in our league are occasionally look class. The lack of consistency is unacceptable, we need a new transfer model/approach. I believe Barry though, the Dundee and Killie game we would have lost due to Clements style of play and reluctance to change. Barry is squeezing what he can out of the squad available. Another summer of big turnover required unfortunately.

james whyte

Been thinking about our squad. We have 'good' players. They have shown it in Euro games and OF's but the issue is they can only show it in the matches that suit them. They arent 'great' players that can put their stamp on the games which dont suit them so we are left with too many 50/50 games. We need better quality and its that simple for me.

Niall MacKay

Not sure if youre joking, but that's sort of my point Andy. Why the hell do we need someone with a 'best throw'? Why are we sending someone out of position to take a set piece that we last scored from in August 88? It's a waste of time and costs us shape.

Jim McCutcheon

Thanks guys great pod interesting as always 👍

Andy McGowan

Because I've been crying out for us to mix things up and use set pieces to our advantage, so personally I'm delighted we're trying stuff like this (I'm being serious). Take your point re shape but it's not PSG we're playing, we should be able to manage

Niall MacKay

I definitely want us to mix up our set plays, I want us to score more goals. Waiting twenty seconds to take a throw so that a guy fifty yards away can lob it towards a big guy wasn't the revolution I was hoping for. There are plenty of examples of us conceding goals from throw in positions. I'd say that 80-90% of them are the opposition grabbing the ball and immediately throwing it to a guy already in the move. Not everyone standing about waiting from the second furthest guy away to run over and chuck it in to a scrum of bodies. To me it's far more beneficial to the opposition than it'll ever be for us.

Last season, the general consensus was that we lost the league in last 10 games due to missed chances and poor strike force….and whilst we def needed to upgrade the forward line and our attacking options, I argued it was our defence that lost us the league. We scored >2 goals in 10 out of last 12 league games - that should be enough for Rangers in Scotland to pick up 33 or 34 points from 12 league games….but we conceded plenty meaning we dropped 9 points out of last 36. Consistency in results starts in defence - we all know that…

Celebration police are the worst what’s the point if you can’t enjoy watching your team. I seen even Newcastle were getting it for the open top bus party it’s only the carabao cup. My mate did take it too far tho on Saturday night in the pub, the Celtic fan of the group giving it big licks only for one of the boys to go full on Cerny with a bottle of corona on him at 4-3 😂 luckily he wasn’t wearing suede

Gavin Foster

I’ve enjoyed the last 2 weeks. I was so low when we scored in extra time I didn’t bother cheering.

Rose Mcloughlin

Thanks guys loved the pod....on saturday I had to go out so set sky to record...silenced my mobile so I would not see the score...tried to warn everybody not to call me...but it all failed so I knew we had won but nothing else...so started the game about 8ish...stunned with the 2 early goals but still ok cause I knew we had won but at 75 mins still 2 behind I thought what the hell is going on had I picked up wrongly the end result but all went well...next day all my rangers pals were frazzled...so for our sanity..lets wait to hear we have won then start watching it from the beginning..ofcourse that wont work at Ibrox....isnt it wonderful to be a gers fan..🤣

Elaine Campbell

There are NO circumstances under which an opposition team "wanted it more" than us. None.

Alex Reid

Although frustrating as always, I don’t think Saturday was a typical Dessers performance. Every chance he got, he got his strike away early, albeit too close to the keeper. His usual fault is to dally about and take too much time in getting his shot off (as he did at Parkhead). Just wonder if Barry and his team have been drilling him just to put his foot through the ball when he gets a chance.

Stephen

I agree. It leaves Tav miles out of position too when we lose the ball. Been doing it for years and it clearly does work. If Tav is the only one who can through the ball long we need to start throwing it short and quick. These shit teams we play against tend to have tall defenders whose main skill is heading the ball away. Moving the ball quickly in these situations should benefit us.

Tommy

Andy, when you say that you hope the players now know what is needed, I think you’re being somewhat optimistic The same thing is going to happen repeatedly between now and the end of the season. Nothing will change

Tommy

I remember us doing this pish under Beale, slowing games down so Tav can trot 60 yards to take a throw or a corner. The fact we’ve reverted back to it is a nonsense.

Graeme Robb

Well done to the team for putting Humpty Dumpty back together again. But just gonny no drop him in the first place?

Jamiedfa

Good pod and great to hear Adam back on the flagship, massively under utilised

Gary Shaw

We are genuinely the most lethargic team in the whole league and must be one of the easiest teams to play against.

Stace1ofthePeople

Hard to stay engaged when there is nothing to play for and our performances are so poor. I actually missed the first half but checked the score at 5.33 and I said it will be 1-0 to Dundee and i wasn't even shocked to see that it was. Its now the norm for this team. When was the last time we were this poor? Don't want to keep spewing negativity, I actually did enjoy the game, probably because I knew if we dropped points it wouldn't mean f all. Barry is doing what he can and at least trying to instill a bit grit and fight. Had we had this at the beginning of the season who knows where we would be .probably not 16 behind. Can't wait for the san fran 49rs please fix our great football club. 🙏

Graeme Glennie

Absolutely spot on adam. You cannot speak about that game (or any other of the countless games we have to drag ourselves back from) and lavish praise for showing character when it CONSISTENTLY happens. By that logic it's not character it's desperation. It's why I cannot take a single positive from it. We have a mountain of work to do next season.

jamey Carruthers

Adam is 100% spot on it’s a total coin flip. There will be games coming up if we go 2 nil down we won’t come back.

Pedro

The break that lead to the corner for the opening goal had a blatent foul on Raskin when Murray obstructed then held Raskin on the half way line. Missed by ref and the Sky pundits alike

Heart and Hand

Well we give teams at least 30 minutes and two goals of a start before we bother our arse so it’s at least half an hour less of a shift for opponents than it should be!

Gary Shaw

Do you not agree though that no matter who the opposition are ,whether that be Dundee,St Mirren or Ross County ,their front men always seem so energetic and willing runners?….I can’t honestly remember the last time I seen a consistent all action Rangers attack

Craig McWhinnie

If we had lost to Dundee would that lot be going “never mind lads, dead rubber anyway “ would they hell and if rolls reversed neither would be so nah the celebration police can do one in my opinion

Craig McWhinnie

Its as it the players have went “nothing to play to domestically, lets give teams a 2-0 lead and see if we can turn it around “

Gary Shaw

Has anyone ever noticed that Butland never dives at full stretch?…..It’s almost like he’s scared to land on his ribs and doesn’t fully extend his arm.

Bob MacCallum

Andy, Tav has taken every corner for years ( usually to little effect) and now he's taking every long throw. This only started a few weeks ago. I assume the new coaching staff instigated this as for years ( or forever) we have been the only team in the league that didn't try long throws. Did the coaches organise a competition and Tav won? Surely there must be more than one " athlete" at the club who can throw a ball into the 6 yard box? Hoping they are practising all aspects of this set play and not just the actual throwing bit!
