Lord Bute had the happy knack of pleasing the King, but it was matched by the unhappy habit of annoying everyone else; George Grenville would never back down from his decision to introduce the Stamp Act in the American colonies; while the Marquess of Rockingham's love of the turf masked a better political skill set than he was given credit for.

Ross is back in the chair as he and David discuss the next three of the Prime Ministers to hold office.

Really enjoying this series lads. I think another reason why we in Britain aren’t as aware of prime ministerial history as the Americans are of presidential history is that in Britain the PM kind of plays second fiddle to the monarch in terms of being a figurehead for the country while in America the president is very much the sole figurehead. It’s a really interesting comparison between the two countries as the US system actually ends up being far more monarchical than the British one, although I’m sure they’d always deny it!
