Cheers David! Incredibly disappointing to lose the young boy but at the money being spoken about it’s a no brainer for us as we look to lots of additional first team replacements! 👍

Cary Grayson

With all the commotion around the EGM, I fear I may have missed your classic ‘the nights are fair drawing in’ line, David. Doesn’t feel right kicking off H2 without it.

James McSween

Sell both this summer. Knowing our luck both would get injured or fall out of form. Can get better players in both positions.

Brian Fisher

If we punt Igamane , we should be gunning for Sima. He excelled at this level. 12 months left on his contract , just turned 24 last week. Knows the league and loves the club. If he wants to move, its a no brainer.

Doogz

Hopefully a few other clubs join Lille get bidding war going, Thelwell meant to be tough negotiator get a massive fee with good sell on, Hamza has what it takes to go to high level.

Vanb bryceter

Let the player trading begin. It's been a lifetime since season end. We need to reshape that squad top to bottom. Hopefully we won't be disappointed with the outcome 😉

Alistair Mitchell

A shame about Igamane if he goes. I wonder how high we could have got his value if we played him more often towards the end of last season

Craig

Have to assume Igamane's people are on maneuvers and he's made it clear he wants to leave this summer. Fair play I suppose, they probably feel like he's arrived in Europe too late to wait any longer for the big move.

David_Davy_Dave

£14m + 20% of profit would be bloody close to the point I do the deal

Gregor

He went right off the boil after the Jan window shut. If he wants to go we should take 15 million and get 2 or 3 in with that. Don't want left with a player in the huff.

Jim Milne

At the risk of being that old man who shouts at clouds. I absolutely hate the way football has gone that a club like Lille can pay €17m for Igamane, and we shop on the market with a max of around £7m. That being said now that clubs are seriously sniffing around for Igamane we have to sell. Young guy who came from nothing and his head could be turned if we didn't sell. It's a great deal all round and if and when he goes I'll look forward to watching his career progress from afar.

Miguel Sanchez

Igamane will be sorely missed I was really hoping he would get another year with us. First striker we've had in a long time that had "sauce" in terms of flicks and tricks I was always excited when he got on the ball. We must learn from mistakes of the past and take 15M for a guy we got for 10% of that a year ago. We'll always have the last minute screamer at parkhead!

David Campbell

Nico will have a fantastic season and will go on and play in the 2026 world cup. Will probably go after that for 25+million. Player trading model finally.

Ryan Stewart

Not relevant to today’s update, but I’ve finally managed to get myself a season ticket today after a few years on the waiting list. SW5, about midway in the section. It’s showing as restricted view, was wondering if anyone has sat in this area and could give me an idea of what the view was like? Hoping it’s not too bad, worst case scenario I just have to get through this year and try get a swap next season

Niall MacKay

Do you know if the Moroccan team have any terms in the contract regarding sell on % for Igamane?

Doogz

Thelwell just needs tell his agent that’s what we will accept and deal be done, Lille are loaded and Rangers should not entertain any lowball nonsense.

David Innes

Hamza has to go for that sort of money but the funds will need reinvested in the squad pronto. When the 49ers took over Leeds I seem to remember a lot of business was completed very late in the window - that’s my basis for not panicking because as things stand we’re heading into these CL qualifiers with a weaker squad that we ended last season with.

David Innes

Only if he signs a new contract. We should be asking for £25m if he goes this summer but I don’t think anyone is leaving a Scottish club for much more than that

Stephen

Lille has been successful in player trading over the years so have earned the right to spend that money. They have sold guys like Osimhen , Pepe , Leao etc in recent years. We should be looking to do the same. By the FFP rules, the more money you make the more money you can spend.

ali t

It appears that the player/agents are driving this then i take it.......if so he will go. Ideally the sell on his old club have (id assume) is hopefully not too high.

Stephen

Definitely be happy to get £17 million (not euros) He wants to go and we could use the money. Will probably lose him for a month for the African Nations and players don’t always come back after that and have a good second half of the season. Being honest, we ain’t qualifying through 3 rounds in the champions league either way.

Graham Jones

Koppen was unlucky, Igamane should be sold for £25m, Raskin will leave to a top 5 league, this loan deal is to help Leeds. They wanted him two years ago. We’re taking the risk for him this season, and will get a pat on the back if we prepare him for going there. This is not what I thought we were signing up for, to be honest. I don’t see anything to get excited about so far, but it’s a long window so maybe patience is in order. My instinct is these type of loan deals are a dead end for how we need to operate to improve. Mulligan will probably go to England for £8m in a couple of years time. We’ve missed a number of good players on our own doorstep. I think you’re right about the lack of effort in games. That ambition in the team left us when Gerrard went to Villa. What we saw with the European run that t year was their swan song. They had peaked and needed breaking up. The problem is we can’t do those sort of rebuilds where you need to turn over that many players at once. That requires a number of things and someone to handle it. We weren’t well placed in any regard to do that. Ross Wilson made a mess of things and the board messed up by throwing Beale in to deal with it. He’s a coach, not a DoF. We need to think smart more.

John leitch

Time for a measured approach for transfer policy No more losing players at end of contract

John leitch

Ideally we would have another season of Igamane but money talks Reinvest

William Hughes

Our buy/sell model. Punt on Igamane and Raskin. Use the £s + kitty and build a team. God knows we need a higher level of player in our beloved Royal Blue. Centre half × 2, a no.9 and a winger who has pace and can dig out a cross. Possibly a keeper?

Bryan Watson

Thoughts are with my fellow Hamza Igamaniacs at this difficult time. If we can get near the 20m mark it is absolutely the right decision to sell. Spent far too long talking about a "player trading model" now its time for us to walk the walk.

David

Any idea what he Moroccan club's sell on clause is?

Colin Mathie

Why tf are we selling Igamane, hes had half a season with us, utterly ridiculous if it happens.

Spoon

Good business, take the offer while it’s there. Normalising sales is essential to moving forward

William Noble

For me it’s a minimum of 25million otherwise I would prefer to keep him

William Noble

If Igamane was called messi. He would be going for 125 million

littleboyblu

If we sell Igamane for between £15-20m and go buy Turgeman and Frigan, or other players of that age, standard, experience & potential, then it’s been a great bit of business. Surely as Rangers fans that’s what we’ve been crying out for. A player trading model. And I 100% agree if we get to keep either Raskin or Igamane then I’d take Raskin all day long (as long as he signs a new deal).

William Noble

Great podcast David but I totally disagree with your valuation of Iganame and it has to be a minimum of 25m

James Anderson

The benefit of being within the 49ers group is we dont need to sell players at low prices as we have peeviously done.

Craig McWhinnie

I think the confusion regarding percentage of sell on fees has came from Football Manager 😂 pretty sure you can ask for percentage of the transfer fee rather than profit in that

William Noble

If Iganame had played as a straight forward no 9 he would have doubled his goal tally but he was too busy covering for all the other donkeys in our squad last season

Heart and Hand

Haha aye that makes sense! Yeah, it would be great of you could but it means that the club are risking a bigger loss than they would otherwise get.

Billy Forrester

Why, would changing his name make him a better player or add 100 million onto his fee? He would just be called Messi with the same ability he has now 🤷‍♂️

Scott Tolmie

17 squillion and not a penny less, would Def suit that League, I always said I didn't see him going to epl as it doesn't suit him, good luck to him if he gets the move, incredible life changing stuff for the boy in 2 years

chris smith

Surely it becomes ‘tapping up’ if the player - having agreed personal terms - refuses to go to the club that bids most and instead demands going to the club that pays him the most

Heart and Hand

Oh it’s blatantly tapping up. It just doesn’t get prosecuted by the authorities because everyone does it.

Alan Riddell

David, I won the NARSA signed jersey on the Saturday night. Was wondering if it could be raffled with money going to charity of H and H choosing ? If it’s of interest please let me know. Alan.
