I always wonder why a professional athlete isn’t fit for 90min by end of July. A few weeks break is worse than an injury…I know you loose fitness faster than you build it but if being fit is part of your highly paid job I do get a bit annoyed…

McCausland wasn’t the worst in the side last season by a long way, so I feel he’s been shat on a bit because he’s a young player. He’s vulnerable because he’s not go the experience to deal with working for three mangers in the space of a matter of months. We’ve seen young players being written off after a couple of appearances so it’s not unusual at Rangers. I just wish the support were more patient with young players, because it’s more difficult making it at Rangers. It wasn’t that long ago that Liverpool were hovering for McCausland’s. I just want a win tonight. It doesn’t matter how neat it is. This is a bout results right now and the manager shouldn’t be overly concerned about how it looks. We need substance over style tonight. I like what he has been doing bringing in former players because it’ll help the players understand the club better. Sir Alex and John Greig was a touch of class and would also have helped lift the place. pre-seasons can be monotonous and stressful, so lifting that will help the players mood before they play this game tonight. We do need to show patience with them, because he plays in a totally different way. My only concern is about the amount of time it takes for the players to learn how to play it. You just don’t get time here, as we’ve seen too often in recent years. Gerrard was different. He was an icon, and we were close to a basket case when he arrived. I just hope the players embrace what they’re being asked to do, because that will determine how fast the team adjusts. I’m nervous for tonight, but full of optimism for the season ahead.
