Hoggy is joined by James Forrest (no, not that one...... and NO, definitely not that one!).

Over to you guys out there, despite a tough watch at times this season. What are the thoughts, concerns, anger, angst?

And, to lighten the mood, Hoggy and James delve into the past to look at this week in history!

Excellent pod and a very balanced discussion on our current situation. I doubt that RM will drastically alter his approach. Maybe a tweak or two but not a noticeable change of strategy.

Why is the data driving our recruitment to predominantly English based players. Why have we produced an hour of watchable football in 8 games.Where is the high pressing high intensity dominating 90mins football we were promised. Why is Dipmande continually treating the ball like an unexploded bomb. Why is Aaron's playing instead of Tav. Why is Souttar continually passing the ball to the opposition. Why is the 3million centre back not playing and we play a bomb scare loanee instead. Why is Rothwell so unfit at this stage of the season. Why is Cameron not the first name on the team sheet. What in the name of the sweet baby Jesus has happened to Antman. Why is Igamane with half a leg not playing before Danilo. All of the above with question marks. Finally at what point does this board pull the trigger on Martin.

The decision to not take an incremental approach to implementing a new style is not RM's decision. He has been brought in to deliver a style, decided above him. As a modern coach he will not have the autonomy to make a unilateral decision to deviate from an agreed approach. Its not the 90s and some figure head is running the club from top to bottom based on his gut feeling.

Firstly congratulations James. We need to focus our recruitment more widely. To miss out on Bowie and Mulligan now both at Hibs being very near to home examples.

Listened on that same lounger I wrote my email from 😎 Now have a pass to go watch the St Mirren game in the Bar tomorrow afternoon as it suddenly sunk in with the Mrs that having me watching on my phone on the beach screaming blue murder probably won’t go down too well with all the Spanish families around us enjoying the sabbath. Interested to see what the result means for the points made in my email. James, congratulations and good luck 🎊

Thanks guys. But 60 mins vs Plzen is literally the only bit that looked good. The rest has been frighteningly bad. Somehow getting good results with bad performances (Pana) is fine but we are not getting good results. Already sick of his soundbites and how much pain we should expect.

James, wonderful choice of music to announce your marriage. Well done 🤵‍♂️ 👰🏼

Good to hear some intelligent discussion about our situation rather than the daily tabloidish anti-Martin content. We can't afford the players we would like to have. This is the reality of the situation we are in. We are not in the era that I grew up in and we have to be patient with the new ownership. 7/8/10/20 games is not enough to judge any manager on. We are not going to win the league this year and probably not next season either. This is going to be grim and we have to build slowly. The demands for instant gratification are beyond our current means.

Good show guys but sadly Russel Martin will never succeed at Rangers no matter what players he puts on the park.

I don’t see how the players being unable to play this “system” is a player problem. Russell Martin is a football manager, or “head coach”, and should be able to adapt to make the players he has, which are significantly better than 90% of his competitors, work. If they can’t play his system but he can’t replace a full squad of players in one window (which he can’t), then he needs to think of ways to work with the players he has. That’s down to management. And if it’s “not his style”, then why the hell was he hired

Congratulations James!!! Best from NZ. Hoggy - hope you’re all good.

Good show as always and good discussion on the state of the team. After what I've just watched, I don't expect Martin to last much longer, but James has been spot on over the last week that the attitude and performance level of the players is a massive part of the problem. It's the manager's responsibility to motivate and set expectations (or even just get them fit), but it's been an issue with successive managers and successive groups of players. The owners are going to have to face up to this, regardless of Martin's fate.
