A statement read:

RANGERS Football Club confirms that it has parted company with Head Coach, Russell Martin.

While all transition periods require some time, results have not met the club's expectations.

Assistant Head Coach, Matt Gill, and First-Team Coach, Mike Williamson, will also be departing.

Russell and his staff have worked exceptionally hard throughout their time at the club. We thank them for their efforts and wish them well for the future.

Further updates from the club will follow in due course.

Thank god he is gone but can’t help feel bad for him on a human level.

A terrible, awful and baffling appointment from the off. We could all see this coming but those above thought they knew better. At least we have finally got rid but those who made the appointment in the first place are still there, so I still have deep concerns. Here's hoping for better days though because what we've watched the past 2 1/2 months is probably the worst football I have ever watched a Rangers team play so consistently in all my 61 years.
