I never normally comment but listening to Ross has frustrated me. I totally get that Gerrard was the choice in a nostalgic and emotional sense - I feel that too. But based on previous I don’t think there’s much certainty that he would’ve been more than short term lifter of spirits and one that would improve us but not to the extend we all desire. What I don’t get is the need to categorise all managers as philosophy/project managers OR pragmatic/figure head managers and all the failures seem to be put in the former category. Beale and Martin were not project managers they were completely frauds who conned their way into the position. Gio and Clement were both pragmatists that failed. It seems as a support we hang on to Walter and Gerrard days and assume that’s the only type that can work at Rangers. I believe a forward thinking manager can still have standards and a personality and as we haven’t found one doesn’t mean they don’t exist. These standards and personality are absolutely needed by the way, I think that’s undeniable. If Rohl or whoever else comes we NEED to give him a chance, it’s unfair to label him another Martin - at this stage at least.

I think too many fans got over excited about Gerrard before it happened. Not entirely the boards fault. Cant the board come out and talk about candidates chances during the interview process to give fans a reality check that it might not work out? I don’t think any manager gets automatic buy in from the fans but a few good results early on will get people on board. The next manager probably has less expectation than normal as people will just be relieved it’s better than Martin even if it’s not perfect straight away
