We shamelessly return after two wins in a row to chat about Danny Röhl's Rangers set up in the last two games.

Focusing on the defensive side and discussing the wins against Kilmarnock and Hibs, we mostly look at:

  • Theory behind the set up

  • Pros and cons of his back three

  • Approach to pressing

  • Flexibility to adapt the shape in game

  • How lopsided wingbacks can benefit

Totally agree on the point versus 2 strikers. 3 makes more sense, unless you have a bassey type physicality and recovery pace you can only work with the personnel you have. Also souttar as a middle of 3 is far better defending between the posts, getting blocks in. Thats his game. It’s all dependent on your options wide too and between our wingers and fullbacks we have loads. If we get chemistry in the forward area it could look good pretty quick because as you said, it’s simple

I never fancied the transfer of miovski. We buy guys on the down as opposed to on the up, thats the issue with miovski. If you buy him direct from Aberdeen when he’s flying he comes a confident player. We buy him after he’s struggled at girona for 2 seasons to afford him. It’s pure confidence and unfortunately for him we create hee haw good opportunities clear cut chances for our strikers. Ours strikers nearly always need to feed off half chances.
