Think it’s unfair to continually refer to Jack and Lundstram as ‘2 sitters’ - over last month they’ve been played as box-to-box midfielders. Neither of them have played the sitting role that Gio used Kamara in for his first 5/6 games. Playing these 2 against anyone in the league shouldn’t be viewed as a negative. Lundstram has scored a couple of cracking goals from outside the box - goals from midfield are needed in our team. And Jack improved any team. If we play them in midfield that also allows our full backs to bomb forward with the protection they provide. Just because players have traditionally played in sitting roles doesn’t necessarily mean that’s the way they always play. I see them as 2 number 8s under Gio.

Jack certainly improves us, but the biggest improvement he provides for me is off the ball. When we play the so-called lesser sides I would prefer to have more natural goal scorers and players who provide a greater goal threat in our side.

Steven, you definitely sounded like you'd had a good night, and rightly so! I don't think I heard you take the credit for having predicted Lundstram could go into a back 3 but you are definitely due some, a great insight. Really enjoyed the discussion of being brave on the ball. I was watching the game with my brother in law and I turned to him at half time and said "There's goals in this for us, but we have be brave." Easier said than done when you're playing a team with the quality to punish you in an instant but I thought we really showed a belief in our ability, especially playing out down the wings. Some of the one touch interchange especially on the right side was sublime.

We very briefly tried an unusual approach to getting more attacking players on the park when we lined up with Tav at right centre back against Dundee United in December but abandoned it quickly because they kept two players up We saw something slightly similar at Tannadice last weekend when Helander came off and Lundstram went to centre back Do you think this sort of approach of having one "true" centre back and another player who can do a decent job of covering and sweeping up but is going to look to bring the ball out of defence and get into the midfield is something we might get some joy out of when playing the teams lower in the league, especially if they only keep one man up?

Will be an entirely different game against Red Star … will be more like playing Dundee Utd than Dortmund probably no more than 3 or 4 goals total in the two legs

Good observation Martyn. I think both Jack and Lundstram play very intelligently and not within defined roles.

Sounds right all the stats suggest a lower scoring tie but I’m less sure that it will look like a D.Utd game don’t see RSB playing that style nor that ruggedly
