Dave Velociraptor

This song will always remind me of the helicopter Sunday video.

Jock Paterson

I think proposed participation in the Rolf Harris Cup, despite it now being rolled back, warrants a sacrificial lamb.

Jay Osborne

Really hope Alfie’s injury isn’t a serious one and just misses the weekend

David Herd

We obviously should never have got into this situation in the first place, but at last sanity has prevailed. How we could ever agree to play a "friendly" against a club who hate us, won't say our name, and tried to destroy us when we were at our lowest is forever a stain on the Rangers board.

Stephen

Glad the board have sorted this out. Now they can concentrate on sending me my Dortmund programme that I ordered over 4 weeks ago! 😂

Andy McG

Good news on the day I can apparently apply for a bus pass.

Alan

The board don't get any credit from pulling out of a situation they should never ever have gone into.

TamGer4

Need to just forget this debacle now and concentrate on winning this league!

Paul

Yessss no friendly! If it's a genuine injury from Alfie. Gio's lack of mixing the team up, or making earlier subs could have played a part.

Doug Maclean

Fair enough that the Board have pulled us from the Auz tournament. Time to make up and both sides need to talk and act. Let’s hear no more crap songs at away matches and let’s look at what My Gers is supposed to get the ordinary supporter

Jim Milne

David, does the media access that H&H has with Rangers allow for personal player interviews? I feel that the days of players being interviewed for fans to view outside of game interviews seems to have gone completely. Would be great if we could hear more from players apart from who the club puts out weekly with Gio, or what you have to read on social media from player tweets.

Lynn Houston

NO SURREDNDER ♥️🤍💙

Heart and Hand

Yes there will be one at end of season. Long-term though I agree, it’s a dying art. Players just don’t want to do them any more.

Rona Bluebell

The club we LOVE was used as a front to provide cover for Celtic enabling a culture of paedophilia and avoiding legal responsibility. That was my number one issue. Not using terminology like Old Firm etc was irritating and juvenile but allowing us to be used as a shield of distraction for what they have done? No. Never. And never again. Lessons need to be learnt.

Ross Adair

That’ll be the battle fever on ✊ And I knew Martyn’s pod from Dubai was good but Rob already upping sticks to get there is impressive work 😅

KMS

first, discussed in 2019?.... Did Dave King not step down in March 2020?

Brian Rae

We simply aren't the same team without Morelos. Roofe started at their midden last time and was invisible throughout. Others really need to step up and I'll admit, for the first time in a few years, I'm worried.

Rob Shorthouse

Martyn's pod was the deciding factor! In all seriousness, it is amazing how present Rangers are around the world. Incredible, really.

Doug Young

I firmly believe my withholding of 5.99 for the RTV Legends game package has swung the balance. You're welcome. 😁

Martin Davies

Gio should play David's rousing speech to the players before they step into the tunnel on Sunday!

Ross

Looks to me that there is a dude pushing Alfredo’s trolley that has 3 cases and his wives jacket on it, perhaps this was on the way out to Colombia ?? I am grasping for positives here 🤣🤣….but why would he take 3 cases to London for a scan

Gordon Baird

I'm just glad the Sydney cup thing is over

Paul Kerr

Glad we've ditched the snydey cup, time to re-focus.

Graham Kelly

👏👏 What a closing speech David 👏👏

Paul Black

I was going to post how do you come up with the music choice but sack that after another Churchill-esque battle cry to close the show!!!

Chris Gibson

Jeezo David, you always know how to get the battle fever on!

Graham Jones

It should never have happened in the first place. The thing that gets me is that Rangers men on the board’s antenna should’ve been twitching immediately when they were presented with this offer. It was never, ever, going to ride with the support. When the announcements happened it wasn’t apparent this was a stitch up. Rangers need to own this narrative now, to prevent damage happening in Australia, because we know how they will try to spin it. The fact it was discussed when King was there is not really a point. It wasn’t called under his time. I have some issues with King on other things, but he didn’t call this under his watch. Maybe he was the one voice that was stopping it happening, but we’ll never know, because that is board business. I’m just glad they saw sense, but it was very, very late. The board are out of the dock here, but on probation because oof the way they handled things. Now they owe the fans, and this demands proper investment int he squad in the summer, because the last three windows have been poor. Bosmans get you so far, but real investment will be required if we get into the Champions League. We all know that’s another level.

Andy McNeill

Still don't trust Bisgrove an inch. The free for all cash grab is crazy.

Gary Brown

Great update, thanks guys! My views on the Sydney Cup. This Board have shown they have been / are trying to be progressive in sponsorship, marketing, branding, player trading etc All of this to gain finance and avoid any semblance of a 2012 situation happening ever again. So this AussieCup idea has been explored since 2019? So no Ange and no litigation deflection was part of their evaluation (+ probably decision / agreement in principal) at that time. Plus 'taking the club to other markets', as discussed by the guys is progressive and Aus is certainly a big fanbase, certain success market. But timing is tremendously significant in all of this - I can't believe they were asked in Feb 'Come be a bitpart of Ange's homecoming show and CFC can punt the details out to mask bad news when it suits them' and said Ok! Yes, they made a mis-judgement (likely a long time ago). Yes they have been exploited by 'that lot' and Aussie marketing. Yes there is work to do. However "we must reveal tolerance & sanity" towards our board. Like a manager signing a player - not all decisions pan out they way it was hoped. The Board pursued an opportunity for additional income, using the OF 'brand' recognised worldwide - and if successful, future perhaps more lucrative opportunities to do the same in other world areas would be possible. Additional income which could hasten development in areas we as fans want improved such ticketing, website, accessible access fan area. They simply made a business decision which has not panned out as expected. But they have listened to the reaction and made a judgement based on what has happened at this time, the exploitation, deflection and overall fan reaction. They can only have learned from this incident. Never forget who came before them and what was done, what they inherited and what they have achieved thus far. We are stronger standing together.

David Harrison

I guess I’m one of the few that didn’t care about us taking part in the Sydney Cup. The whole “Celtic don’t like us so we shouldn’t take part” thing seems a bit childish. Go over there, give them a pumping, and come home with a few million quid, also giving the Aussie supporters a chance to see the team. Oh well.

Douglas Innes

Have always been In the middle regarding the friendly but I feel if this is what the board had to do to get £3 million are our board of directors and fat East investors wallets closed ? We may get a friendly at Ibrox in November but not at that kinda money..

G Calder

Believe by Lenny Kravits - for me it's the anthem of helecopter Sunday from the best YouTube video ever made IMO.. Must have watched it 1000's of times .... So at last the friendly' is now cancelled - can we now go back to being normal with our songs ? No more excuses - that could have had a huge impact on us as fans & the club if it continued into the euro games - it was not a good look having stands shut by UEFA for what they called ' racism' thier words - not mine . Get it into the bin ...

Craig Watson

Hairs on the back of my neck standing on end at the end there!

Scott Watson

Recalling the wise words of Struth is always to be welcomed in times of turmoil Excellent points all round

John Walker

Play that ending to the players before they go on the pitch and we'll smash them. As a bear in Australia I'm so glad the friendly has been cancelled. Obviously want the chance to see the team again but not while playing patsie to the devil.

Gordon McCool

Agreed John, as an Aussie based bear I’m delighted it’s cancelled too. I also hope that we use this as the first step to distance ourselves from them. I only use the term old firm to annoy Celtic fans on twitter. No guilt by association.

John Walker

I'm in Adelaide but my mates in Brisbane had already got tickets for the tournament and had offered me one. Glad the decision has been made for me. Where are you Gordon

Gordon McCool

Adelaide too mate, McLaren Vale. Where are about are you? I had no intention of going. The longer it went the on the angrier I was getting about it. Glad commonsense has prevailed.

John Walker

Seaford Rise mate just up the road. Maybe catch up for a veer some time.

John Palmer

Yeah I'm not happy and the statement is a cover. The reason for the cancellation is purely down to Fan pressure. I'm filthy at both the Club in how they handled the whole situation and the fans who protested against it. This decision only benefits one side of the support and there has been no consideration for the fans who are now left angry at the cancellation and now left out of pocket in some situations. Trust and faith has been tested and I'm sad to say I don't trust the current board and have distain for those who cried so much about the game especially when they weren't even going. from here I hope there is no more coverage regarding it and we can concentrate on whats happening now, whats done is done. Move on.

Steff Clarke

Really relieved that the announcement wasn't an April Fools scam when it was released this morning! I'm relieved because I didn't want to be forced to choose between a once in a lifetime opportunity to see an OF game locally (I'm NZ based) or be viewed as a scab by the home-based bears. I'm also relieved was the reason I was wary about attending, even though I'd bought tickets, wasn't because of the furore but because of the inevitable mass violence that would have been capturing global news networks that weekend, and inevitably being drawn in/caught up in it. The lack of segregation in the city, the pubs, on the transport links and in and around the ground for a 7.30pm kick off on a Sunday night, and alcohol freely available in the stadium bars for 70,000 fans... write your own headlines. BTW the Rangers fans drank the stadium dry in the Sydney tournament last time by half time against AEK Athens, in 2010. That was daytime, only a few thousand fans, and there was a second match with an EPL club after ours!

Tommy

The right decision has been reached. However…. we’ll get hammered legally for this. TEG aren’t a two bob organisation and our excuses are flimsy at best. Another costly legal blunder. And from the perspective of a Rangers fan in Australia it’s disappointing. Our credibility is shot and the way we’ve handled this is amateurish. We’ve got enough pro-Celtic stuff here as it is right now, this doesn’t help. Although an OF game wasn’t the right approach, it would have been nice to see the bears here.

Rob Shorthouse

The Club should 💯 go to Oz, Tommy. We should go to NZ and we should go to Hong Kong, the Middle East and the Americas. But we should do it the right way, when it has maximum benefit for us. The overseas fans deserve an opportunity to see their team - but it cannot be done the way the Sydney Cup was arranged, in my opinion.

James Galbraith

That part at the end should be played in the dressing room cause that’s a team talk for you! Amazing David

Gordon McCool

My in-laws are all in Seaford Rise too. Beer sounds good. I’m away at work at the moment (Moomba).

John Walker

No bother Gordon. I'm on grand Boulevard. Give us a shout when your back and we could sort something out.
