After a momentous week, Hoggy is back with Rob Shorthouse to reflect on Rob's life abroad watching Rangers, his time at the SFA, Braga and Celtic and everything that surrounds the final few weeks of the season.

Rob's sound is perfect, Hoggy sounds a little tinny (will check the mic) but hopefully all ok for everyone.

Awe a good old Saturday listening to the hamper

As always great content Hoggy and Rob. I think on the subject of striker injuries. I would play Aribo too. The flip side is that we have natural goalscorer’s in the B team. They would be playing beside better players , enthused by the chance of demanding a jersey, motivate the other first options to be ruthless or lose their place to a prospect player. I think opponents would find it unnerving to play against an explosive goal machine like Weston or Wilson. With VAR in Europa league , this could help propel these young stars. I have made a lot of assumptions about character , attitude etc . If would provide great experience for them too.

CRAIG CASSELLS

Great listen as always. Robert is a fantastic listen, comes across asvery articulate and knowlegable on all thing Rangers. Surely a place can be found for him as a new podder on H&H!!!

Pondo Sinatra

Top Hamper today Lads! 👏 Hugely enjoyable! 🇬🇧

Rob Shorthouse

If you can put yourself through it, Craig - I'm one of the team on the Ally show each Wednesday. Thanks!

Gregg

Brilliant listen - good to hear the views of Rob on various topics, very knowledgable. Surely a job at ibrox isn’t out of the question? Cheers lads

CRAIG CASSELLS

Yeah I suffer the agony of both listening to the Ally pods and the memories it brings back of all those dreadful home games I trudged to every other week. All the best.

Hoggy

Annoyed at the quality as using a quality mic and the nee recording software. I’ll switch laptops. Just in case!

Scotty Dog

Who was at the door?

Scotty Dog

Check the new software hasnt defaulted to the onboard mic rather than your external mic. Sounds like that and picking up the fan noise from laptop

Hoggy

I think you are bang on mate. It sounds like the laptop mic.

Andrew Lees

I really enjoyed this Hamper. It's brilliant to have it back and it was good to have Rob's insight from the SFA days. Thanks Hoggy and Rob

Bob MacCallum

Brilliant stuff, guys. Rob's experiences are fascinating. Must get my grand-daughter, Megan, who frequents Dubai Loyal, to introduce herself to him.

Paul Kerr

Thanks gents. Rob makes a great guest. His mix of work and personal experience is really interesting.

Alan Stewart

Brilliant pod lads, thank you. Was pissing myself when I heard we were guests of Saddam and took on Iraq in a friendly 😂 I wasn’t aware of that!

Gordon Millar

Totally agree with Rob, there needs to be a strategy with the obvious objective of developing players and selling on to bigger leagues..... For me the strategic objective must be to establish Rangers as a club, trusted to nurture talent and attract good foreign (and home) talent that see Rangers as a good grounding to to the bigger leagues(Ajax do this). Rob please consider (if the position comes up) becoming part of the Rangers Communications team, you have the experience and come across as a man who could balance the needs of fans with the responsibilities of the role. Great listening gents!

Really enjoyed the hamper with Rob. We are all the same, Rangers is one of the single most important aspects of my life as Rob stated is the case with him. WATP

Another cracking hamper and Rob is a very welcome addition to the pods, even if he was in part culpable for 2012. Interesting points regarding our media policy and the lack of ability to set the media narrative. Initially I was all in favour of the policy of the club, but with hindsight, think that having no relationship with large sections of the mainstream media is to our detriment. I think H&H has proven to be far superior to any of the papers in terms of Rangers coverage, but sadly, a lot of people will get their news from the traditional outlets. Is there anyway that the club could change the media policy and have a more cordial relationship going forward without it being seen as a climb down? Having said the above, I think we should be more selective with the “journalists” that we allow in our stadium. Guys like Stewart, Sutton, Spiers etc should never be welcomed into Ibrox.

I'm always very jealous of the guys that come up with the excellent questions for the Hamper. When I see the message come in my mind goes blank and I can never think of anything other than obvious questions. Anyway, I really enjoyed the show, Rob is always a good listen, and Hoggy, as ever, is a wonderful host.

I'm a bit late delving into the delights of Hoggy's well stocked hamper this week. Despite that a thoroughly enjoyable and very enlightening listen. Thanks very much Hoggy & Rob, a lot of really interesting discussion and information to digest & consider. Rob - I'd echo what a few others have said. Your viewpoints & understanding of SFA inner workings, media, liaison & comms strategy from your previous experiences is not only really interesting but would be invaluable for the club and its improvement & progression in those areas. Maybe you could offer your insight to the club? On a consultant basis?Perhaps in conjunction with former colleague Gordon Smith? Who I think was also very forward thinking & progressive in these matters. You know the problems, have analysed them and can offer viable solutions.

Rob Shorthouse

Thanks Gary - and to the others who have commented. I'm pretty happy with my lot out here, to be honest with you! Was a time when I would have jumped at the chance, but I'm too used to the sunshine now.

Gary Brown

You're welcome Rob. Good to be happy in work and a warm sunny climate helps 😎👍 TBH I think you have the answers to problems the club / board might not actually realise they have!! I believe "that's not the Rangers way" ethos weighs heavily in this issue. The 'influencing' to create the day/week/match/postmatch mhedia driven narrative (and league policy!!) simply appears to our club / board as dirty tactics & underhanded (it is!!) and they want no part of that. So its - Choice: Propaganda or Dignified Silence What you outlined is the proper way to engage with media / league - and its not simply the 'if you can't beat them, gotta join them'.

Craig Buchanan

BrillInt listen. Great to hear the chat and hope this makes it past pilot! For the record, it was a ‘barmaid’ in Lima.
