Was it the first McCoist video that ends with that penalty where you get the 'he's done it!' commentary before the video freeze frames?

Also agree fully on the Celtic weren't our rivals point - I'm slightly too young for remembering these seasons as they happened, being born in 1985, and it probably took me until Burns arrived to view them as rivals - when I was a kid Aberdeen was definitely the biggest game of the season.

Another great show guys, thanks to all involved 👍👏 A pleasant stroll down memory lane and it is interesting after the amount of time which has passed & how that future then panned out, with hindsight we can all ponder over & debate certain events that 'may' have triggered later events as well as ones we know that did. Anton's nearly greetin wee boy face!!😀😀😀still makes me laugh. At this point we were like a plane at cruising altitude or a car at cruising speed - progress appearing effortless with the machinery all working at optimum efficiency & output. Coupled with the more optimistic social mood & economics of the new decade it was definitely 'the future's bright.....' and no one could envisage any bumps in the road ahead on the park, off the park and in business & life. Tangible, progressive changes in music, fashion, media, lifestyle and sport - and in football Rangers were in the driving seat. This was another 'journey'! I remember thinking Souness would leave, 2 years was like a lifetime in football, it would be for the best, probably including for the team during matches too but also knowing there was NO way he'd tuck tail and run. Interesting times at the time, still interesting now. Thanks again for this series👍👏

“It hit ma fucken hand” 😫 what a legend Anton was!! Great memories conjured up once again. Gray obviously turned into a bit of a pariah these days, but I must admit to the introduction of Gray being the catalyst to me trying (and largely failing) to understand the wider aspects of the game. Still trying and failing to this day! We really were so far ahead this season and it was such a joy!

Managed to see some of those English matches at various friends houses in Ayr who had an “Ulster Aerial” which you could get with a really tall mast!

I’ve really enjoyed the pods on this largely forgotten season. It was the first where me & my mates went to games without an adult and by the end of it we were all turning 15 and felt like men who went to the football and had “done” a season. A few interesting fashion choices came our way in the Enclosure as well - Stone Roses-inspired sun hats & the classic Davy Crockett over the season! It was as solid a Rangers side as you’ll find - the Goals Against will tell you that. Could have offered more going forward, probably did the following year where there were more thumpings of teams, but this side went out and won points very efficiently; and against a decent general level of competition as you have discussed. I was slightly young to appreciate the political symbolism at the time, although aware of it. There was certainly a general dislike for this “Tory” Rangers outside of our support.. maybe the Unionist identity was tied up in that as the Nationalist movement began to gather some momentum? On the football side, we must have had 7 or 8 Rangers players from that side going to the 1990 World Cup as reasonably established Internationalists for Scotland & England, a couple on the fringes. This was a Rangers side that deserves a bit more adulation than it has had up until now. I’m away to look out my Davy Crockett hat for next week 🤣

Trevor Steven. One of only 4 world class players to play for Rangers 1986-date. Loved him.

Remember Ulster television and watching the big match live. Ayrshire based.

The TV debate heading into the 90’s is fascinating. NTL plumbed cable into multi-storey flats in Glasgow at this time. Schemes became the centre for a massive economy of scales exercise. Was as close to first exposure to digital as you’d see. No need for squareials. Went from having zero remote controls to 4 as a minimum. Not quite ‘on demand’ but seeds were sown.
